Nadya, you are the Perfect combination of Beauty and Brains! .... hope all is well, and are you planning to get to any games at the Bell Centre this season?
Darling you're absolutly right on all points ! I did say it before the most
important franchise in Hockey is :

The Toronto Maple Leafs Organization !

Sweetie and correct me if I'm wrong but I think in Boston both NCAA
Basketball and Football are also bigger draw's then the Bruins.
Special K or Merlot could provide us with an answer to this one.

You are quite correct. Boston College's NCAA games are a bigger draw than the Bruins.

I personally thank you for your input.

(I've yet to check the attendance at Bruins games this season, but in the past few years, the arena appeared to be half-empty for most of the Bruins games i watched on tv. Very sad.)

Hello,

I would like to remind everyone that this thread is for the discussion of the Leafs and how their season is going. It is not for general sports related discussion or the place to discuss other teams. There are other threads for that purpose.

Please get back on topic. From this point on, any other off topic posts will be subject to a suspension.

I will clean this thread when time permits.

It was a tough way to lose the game tonight on a penalty in OT but the Leafs played great tonight, if not for Roloson, they win this game easily, and if not for that goal that was disallowed, (the first one) the Leafs also win but those are the breaks, what goes around eventually comes back around and we will get a call later in the season we dont probably deserve....... 5 games, 9 points, almost perfection from a team that started 0-7-1 last season, I WILL TAKE IT!!!!!!!

GO LEAFS GO!

I need to correct you my Leafs Nation colleague. The Leafs did not lost tonight's game. They got a tie, then lost the bonus point in overtime. I also was under the impression that it was a loss for our beloved team, but the sports announcers correctly called it a tie. I checked the current standings & indeed, it still shows a zero in the loss column.

Canada's team is still unbeaten & now alone in first place in the NHL's overall standings! :D

(and i do agree that they got robbed by the linesman on that no-goal by Versteeg)

4-0-1...... what was i thinking?!?!?! ... anyways it was a great effort by the Leafs. After watching every game so far, i can honestly say they have lost maybe a periods worth of hockey in 5 games, and as long as the max effort is put forth night in night out, they should make the playoffs. Great atmosphere at the ACC tonight as you could tell the crowd was loud and proud once again.

I agree. The Leafs once again showed that Maple Leaf pride & guts. They got robbed a couple of times, especially on that non-Versteeg goal in the second. Tavares might have covered up the puck in the crease on that near-Colby Armstrong goal (you were right about Colby, Nadya....he's soon becoming a favorite of mine!), and that interference penalty on Lebda in OT (which led to the Isles' goal) was marginal & embelished by Roloson. If that's a penalty, there's no reason why the mugging on Kulemin earlier into the OT shouldn't have been called.

But anyways, the Leafs will learn from this experience & bounce back. The Isles worked very hard for their 2 points & Roloson was unbelievable (and lucky!), so i don't feel as bad losing that bonus point last night. Our blond lady friend mentionned last night that this was one of the loudest crowds she'd ever heard at the ACC. Is the recent Leafs success catching on? You bet it is! :D

As someone who bravely (or some might say foolishly) picked the Leafs to finish in the top 25 this season, it looks like time to revive this thread. I guess no one has been posting in it lately because of recent results. To name a few:

1. No goals in their last two games.
2. Have dropped to 20th in the league.
3. After their amazing start of 4 wins in 4 games, they have only won one of their last 6!
4. No scorers in the top 30.
5. Only Jersey, with 20 goals, has fewer goals than the Leafs this season.

But!!! Keep the faith Leaf fans! I am still predicting - in spite of their recent horrendous slide - that they will make the top 25 by season's end.

Look on the bright side: even a great team like Detroit has only two scorers in the top 30. Furthermore TO is playing Ottawa tonight, so I repeat: keep the faith Leaf fans.

Hearts of Lions, best describes tonights game against one of the top 5 teams in the NHL, the Oveckin lead Caps. Down 3-1 the Leafs never say die attitude got them back to 3-3 and ended regulation and overtime at 4-4.

After getting the tough end of alot of well played games in this young season, i will take the one point and gladly walk away happy with this effort tonight as something to build on. Last year after 12 games i think the Leafs had 4 points, this year, 12. And out of 5 losses, 4 could of been won, but oh well, those are the breaks. Play hard and never say die, and with the talent Brian Burke has assembled and with only a few pieces of the puzzle left to come, this team will seriously contend for the Cup within 2 seasons, and will make the playoffs this season.

GO LEAFS GO!

Actually i know this is your attempt to not comply with the thread but i will bite, they have actually been playing pretty well all season so far, just not getting any breaks, but those are the "breaks" sometimes.

It is a long season, and there are 70 more games to go. But overall i am pleased compared to recent years. 12 points in 12 games compared to last years start of only 4 or 5 points in 12 games is light years better in a short time span. Brian Burkes vision is right there, the players just have to will their way to some difficult wins this season and they will make the playoffs if they can steal a game here or there that no one gives them a chance to win or get at least a point.

Last night was just that, they, and the Monster especially, stole a point against possibly the best team overall in the NHL, and on the road no less. Great game to watch last night and im proud of the way the Leafs fought and didnt give up. Ron Wilson has these guys playing hard night after night and the wins will come if they keep up that kind of intensity for 60 minutes every game. Pierre Mcguire gave high praise to this young Leafs team all night, and deservedly so. GO LEAFS GO!

I've been off the grid traveling the world recently but how have the Leaf's been doing since their blazing 4-0 start?

I'm not a hockey fan and don't know much about the way things work in the NHL. I do know that an ungodly number teams make the playoffs, but I'm not absolutely sure how many.

Does a 10th place team qualify?

No Rumples, the top 8 teams from each of the two conferences make the playoffs for a total of 16 out of 30.

Again correct me if I'm wrong here, but am I correct that the Leafs, then, despite their torrid start are not on a make-the-playoffs pace? And correct me if I'm wrong again, but wouldn't 10th place be considered a good season for the Leafs in view of their history?

At their current pace, Yes and Yes.

Thanks for the info. I'm not really much of a hockey fan. I know as much about hockey as iggy does about baseball. Maybe a little more.
