I would like to take credit for this song but i can't. My good friend Doc pointed this song out to me a while back, so he should get all the credit for this. It is one of the greatest love songs of all time, I now often have this song playing when an escort shows up to my room.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvwpsXEYCXU

Is that while you still have your sandals and knee high socks on? lol Great song around the camp fire. I think Rod Stewart version is a little more appropriate, but each his own... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvwpsXEYCXU

Here is my top 3..

1) METALLICA

Best band ever, period, no matter what people will say. This is the kind of band where finding a track i don't like on a CD is rare...

2) Kiss

For all they bough to the scene, even tough there a rock band they help promote the metal "style" in a way, and i really think there true icons.

3) Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath)

The Prince of Darkness himself, if Kiss help ignitiate the trend to metal, Ozzy surely perfected it and again he is one of the pioneer of metal.

Of course there is a bunch of other bands i like, but putting my personal taste and the impact they had on music, i think those 3 are the most importants.

HM,

What do you think of the musical skills of my favorite artist, Tiny Tim. I am very surprised that he did not make your top 3.

Look behind you.
I was never a " Metal head " but did ( do ) listen to it, I was more a Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Iggy Pop or Stones type fan. Enjoyed the Tragically Hip ( Early years ). Now a blues / Southern Rock fan but still listen to all.

That is why I put I was never a metal fan but listened to ___,________--&___ type of music ( I do not like to call it classic rock as then it gets put into the same category as Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen etc which I do not enjoy ). Old Metallica was great, Ozzy is superb along with likeables Iron Maiden, Slayer etc.... I will listen to anything except hip/hop, rap, Zamfir ( my outlaws here listen to that ) or old country ( George Jones type) Yes I like Johnny Cash who doesn't.
Taste in music is the same as taste in females/males, everyone has their own likes. My son listens to some weird shit right now and do not know how to classify it.

As for JJ's mention of Tiny Tim he was a joke on the Ed Sullivan show decades ago that for some reason got his 15 min of fame.

HM,

I am a little surprised and a bit taken back that you don't know who the late great Tiny Tim is. He electrified audiences all thru the 60's and 70's. No one and i mean no one could hit the high notes like this man. Here he is making an appearance on the Johnny Carson show performing one of his many smash hits, enjoy.

Tiny Tim was actually made famous by his appearance on Laugh-In which was the top rated comedy show of the late 1960s on American TV.

That's it....... Thanks for the correction... Knew it was something from the distant past.

Steb22, you have great taste. You have that song playing when an escort walks into the room and i can almost guarantee you, that she is going to fall in love with you. By making musical choices such as that song i have quite often had sp's get so into me, that they would forget to take the envelope at the end of the date but being the gentleman that i am known to be, i would always call them back and give it to them. I have gotten hundreds and hundreds of private phone no's because of my great taste in music.

My tastes in music are very broad...however, old rock is my favorite...And to answer the question...Led Zeppelin!

They are definitely in the conversation, if you are talking classic old school rock bands. It is a shame that both Led Zeppelin and the Who lost their legendary drummers while they were still in their primes. It sort of fucked up the legacy of each of those classic bands.

I would add to the conversation the Doors which were a bit different. Doors are at the top as far as American bands in my opinion.

But if you took a poll of oeople in the music business the Beatles would win by a significant landslide. They would also win in a poll of people in the 40-70 age group.

LOL i was born 85 man... i mean i grew up as a teen with bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and more. The 99 movie Detroit Rock City got me into Kiss and as for Ozzy, the man is still rocking the world today, so again its only normal to interest myself to his roots. But a random dude from the 70s... lol
