ACC: 18,819
Bell Centre: 21,273

correct your are! someone didn't check their facts before claiming Montreal has a smaller arena

in fact, the Habs have led the league in attendance every year averaging 21,273 per game!

It's amazing how Habs fans are so obsessed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Shouldn't they instead be talking about their own team instead of worrying about other teams?

It's true that the Leafs are the greatest franchise in hockey history, and Canada's team. But still......

That's funny Doc - last year after you belatedly jumped off the Leafs bandwagon you claimed you were always a habs fan. By the way, if you were going to jump on a new bandwagon you should have picked the Red Wings, but then again I guess that nitrous oxide is damn powerful stuff (as your recent posts here confirm).

The Leafs picked up some good players in the off-season

like who? Jeff Finger! LMAO! :D

They hired a well-regarded coach who's been successful everywhere he's been.

A bad hire - Ron Wilson has been a playoff coaching bust. He’s had stacked teams in San Jose with players like Thornton and Marleau and the best goalie in the NHL last season only to choke in the playoffs again and again, clearly he is not a good motivator and comes to Toronto with a ton of baggage – why else would the Sharks let him go. With no talent in Toronto, look for the Laffs to be cellar dwellers indefinitely – or at least for another 42 years! :D

I predict that the Leafs will make the playoffs & surprise a lot of people this year

You’ll delete your post and be cheering for the Habs by December – Leaf fans are the worst band wagon jumpers in the league! :D

Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron.....

Bruins’ Patrice Bergeron wants to get right back to game action

WILMINGTON — One more doctor’s appointment, and Patrice Bergeron can finally start pestering head coach Claude Julien.

Bergeron, 23, the Bruins center who hasn’t played since sustaining a career-threatening concussion last Oct. 27, was cleared to play on Monday by his neurologist. All he has to do now is pass Friday’s standard annual physical, and he can bug Julien, instead of doctors, about playing.

Patrice Bergeron said:
"I want to get going right away,” Bergeron said Tuesday after an informal workout with teammates at Ristuccia Arena. “I want to get the first couple (exhibition games) out of the way.”........

"I want to get used to the game again, to the situations, to the speed,” he said. “It’s going to be up to Claude, but obviously I want to play.".....

Bergeron desperately wanted to return for last season’s playoffs, but only got as far as receiving permission to participate in full-contact practices. He came back to Ristuccia in July to take part in the Bruins’ prospect development camp, and reported Tuesday that he has felt “100 percent all summer.”

Habs team 'best' in a long time, Koivu says as camp opens

http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080919.w-habs20/GSStory/GlobeSportsHockey/home

A good start as Montreal enters its centennial season ...

Meanwhile, the pathetic Toronto Maple Turds enter their 43rd straight season of futility without a captain (or a real NHL team for that matter) and Laff fans are so embarrassed about their sad sack team, they’re trying to sell their “free” tickets” rather than show up and watch their shitty team play!

I predict the Leafs will be as good if not better than the last couple of years' teams, which missed the playoffs by only a point or two. The Leafs are on the right path! :D

And we should all believe this Doc...because your past predictions have been SO accurate. (Sorry - can't write any more - have fallen on floor laughing).

I predict the Leafs will be leaders in the John Tavares sweepstake until around January when they convince Sundin to come back to North America and finish the season.

As a result, the Leafs will still be shitty enough to finish out of the playoffs but just good enough to finish 24th overall and blow any chance of getting the number one pick in the draft lottery. :D

Hello Doc !

Doc Holliday said:
... Not necessarily referring to Sundin, but mostly by getting rid of McCabe, Tucker & Raycroft....no dumb comments by Paul Maurice like last year's "this is the best team i've ever coached."
Bye-bye, Swedish Meatball!! Good riddance!! I hope you sign with Montreal!!! :(

I agree on all comments Doc; however Meatball is a little harsh. Sundin will sign with the Rangers. In either late October or mid November. The Canadiens are done with him. And Friends, lookout for the Caps.
This Team will represent the Conference dark horse.

A little prediction.
The top 3 in each division. Montreal, Pittsburgh and Washington.

Kisses xxxXXXxxx

I agree that the Caps are a team on the way up. Very good coaching, speedy team & superstar scorer. There may be question marks in the net, though.

The exact opposite situation of the 2008/09 Leafs – Toronto has questionable coaching, lack of speed and no scoring, but have a legitimate goalie.

The Habs on the other hand have excellent coaching (and g.m.), plenty of speed, lots of scoring and the best young goalie in the league! :D

Hello. I am somewhat active on another board but joined this one basically because iwant some habs discussion which is next to nill except for a few die hards

The Habs can have 3 strong scoring lines. Here's how I think it will shake down. First line: Lang C, Tanguay LW, Kovalev RW Second line: Plekanec C, Andrei Kostitsyn, LW Sergei Kostisyn RW Third Line Koivu C, Higgins LW, and either Kostopolous or Latendresse RW. Fourth line Lapierre C, Begin LW and Laraque RW (which may be the best fourth line in the league). Also look for guys like Kyle Chipchura and Gregory Stewart to make pushes for starting jobs throughout the year and/or to fill in for injured players

The D has bright spots (Markov, Komisarek and an underated Bouillon) but lacks physicality (aside from O'Byrne and Komisarek). Briesbrois had a surprisingly good season but Gorges is the key to the core. He has to develop and be a top 3 defenceman, now that Streit is gone. They also have Matt Carle in their system, a throw in pick from the Rivet trade and a few other D Draft picks, many from the US under-18 program ,who it seems Gainey has an in with. (Probably from his days in Minnesota).

Now everybody seems to be in love with Carey Price but i'm still QUITE bitter about his breakdown against the Flyers. If he had even pklayed average, they would of won. His team FINALLY played in front of him and he fucked it up. I hope he works through it. If not, he has two guys behind him with NHL experience that can win games. The D has to help him out and not give up 30+ shots a game like last year. Far too many games they got bailed out by their goaltending. they need more balance. They should be outshooting teams 35-20 most night, not the other way around.

Either way, they should win their division. Boston is their only threat and they don't have the goaltending, although they are packed with young talent, especially a healthy Partrice Bergeron, But the hAbs will most likely be a top 3 team in the East and a final four team in the NHL. I think they need one more defenceman (possibly a Mattais Ohlund???) and they'll be playing in June.

Leafs don't want Yzerman

Idiotic Toronto Maple Laff management reject Steve Yzerman as possible G.M. !!

http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/Hockey/2008/09/26/6883326-sun.html

This goes to show you how inept and classless an organization Toronto is - Yzerman is a top hockey guy, very knowledgeable about the game and respected around the league.

For a team that has not had so much as a sniff of the Stanley Cup finals in over 42 years, Yzerman would seem to be a good candidate to help rebuild this pathetic franchise, but instead Maple Crap management dis him. Besides, Yzerman is too good for a joke organization like the Maple Turds! :D

Ohlund would look good in the Red, White & Blue - there was a report a little while ago that the Canucks are quietly shopping him around, but the asking price would be steep right now. I don't see Vancouver making the playoffs, so his price might go down around the trade deadline. Ohlund is making around $3.5M and is scheduled to become a UFA next season (can't see him re upping in Vancouver) so they will try and trade him in the hopes of getting something back rather than loose him for nothing - welcome to Montréal Matty!

No, his price will go up if anything. I'm not sure about the Habs cap situation but Ohlund will stand to make 5 million or more if the Habs decide they want to re-sign him (providing they get him of, course). But being in Vancouver, I can tell you, Ohlund is a ROCK. I have nothing but disdain for that franchise but Ohlund has been a credit and one of only a few first round picks that has worked out for them. Also, Montreal will have to probably give up a few prospects or a first or second rounder to get him. Higgins may be a player on the block or maybe Sergei Kostitsyn if they want to get Ohlund and I don't think either of those guys should go because they're young and have great upsides, especially Kostisyn.

Yzerman is top notch in every way. Of course he's too good for the Leafs - mind you, anyone with an IQ higher than 6 is too good for the Leafs!

Ottawa has no goaltending. Montreal and Buffalo are thoe only teams with legitimate netminders. Tim Thomas is too streaky. Although if you got Spezza, Heatley and Alfresson as your top line, you got a shot. Don't take Ottawa lightly but unless they get some goaltending it will be another first round exit at best.
