Man oh man are the wings in for "culture shock" in their new conference this season

Maybe Todd "coward" bertuzzi can still stick up for daty=suk before Orr pummels old man "todd"

Two observations:

1. In your world (and your world only!) Scott is an ogre but I suppose Orr and McLaren are fine, upstanding, super-skilled hockey players who have NOTHING to do with being "ogres" - HA HA HA HA HA!

2. You probably made a valid point by saying "Orr AND McLaren will take care of Scott". Yes, the AND is key because the gutless and honorless Leafs cannot fight fair. They need either weapons, sneak attacks from behind, or - as you have so CLEARLY pointed out - a TWO AGAINST ONE situation. Not only are the Leafs the worst franchise in the NHL but they are also the most gutless and unethical - totally lacking in sportsmanship.

And SURELY in YOUR world, Orr and McLaren will not be "ogres" when they DOUBLETEAM Scott.

So I guess if a no-talent goon like Colton Orr makes a move towards a non-fighter, then that non-fighter will be fully justified in using his stick as a weapon against Orr?

If you say "yes", then you are CONDONING the use of a hockey stick as a weapon ANY time a player makes an attacking move towards a less-tough player.

And if you say "no" - which I'm sure you will - then you are exposing yourself as a complete hypocrite who believes that stick use is only justified when it's committed by a Leaf!

Case closed: defendants Phil and Iggy both found guilty!

Strange! You often respond to posts, but it seems you ignored this one.

No answer, huh?

I think joel, you need a break , again... this is not the free for all and your late night drunken antics are really scary lately.... try posting in the free for all and i MIGHT engage you, but then again when you go nuts, it is not fun for any of us so likely you will be on your own, as usual....

Scary stuff and it is not even Oct 31 !

Funny, but it seems that YOU are the one hurling insults, purposely mis-writing the names of players and posters, and bringing in annoying, irrelevant, and incorrect nonsense like "mirror lover" because as usual you CANNOT come up with a legitimate answer to a legitimate HOCKEY question.

Typical playground stuff: If you can't win a debate through logic and intelligence, try resorting to insults and misdirection in the hope that no one will notice you are saying nothing of substance. Unfortunately for you, everyone here has seen your tactics so often that no one falls for them. Bottom line: You have NO GAME. It's very easy to see why you are a Leaf fan.

Incredible! You never learn. By the way, maybe you SHOULD buy a good mirror. Hold it up to your face, read your silly comments and accusations, and presto: you'll see that YOU are the one who is guilty of everything you accuse others of.

By the way, I'm STILL waiting for answers to HOCKEY questions in this thread AND in the free-for-all thread. You know the free-for-all thread, don't you? Hint: It's the one that YOU started.

Ummmmmm K, you have some brown stuff on the end of your nose, per usual

Hey Iggy, here is just one example of something that belongs in the fee-for-all thread that YOU started, NOT in this thread, and actually something as insulting and devoid of content shouldn't even be in the free-for-all thread. I could post many examples, but there's really no point:For some reason, you almost always get away with it with the Mods but the bottom line is that everyone who reads the sports threads knows that you have no game.

Your idea of intelligent discourse seems to be to ignore the subject matter and toss out insults or stupidities.

Sorry, but that doesn't fly.

I agree, so take it to the free for all thread and give M8 and Fred a break and play with yourself like usual. No need to troll here right? If you dont like my opinions, fine but try to be cordial about it....... Cheers and have a good night ;)

Suggestion: Try reading your own posts and see if they fit the definition of "cordial".

Oh, and by the way, you STILL haven't answered any of the HOCKEY questions I asked you. This IS a HOCKEY thread, is it not?

Where I belong.
You know, Cairo, I don't believe we've ever met and I have no idea what you look like, but considering all the times you've eaten iggy's lunch, I'd guess that a diet is probably in your future.

I'm very pleased to see that Clarkson's actions are costing him a little over a quarter of a million dollars (not that it will hurt him much thanks to that fat contract Nonis gave him) but it's too bad that Phil is basically getting off with the tiniest slap on the wrist imaginable.

The NHL protects it's top players for a reason, they are the faces of the NHL. If this had been Crosby he would of not even had a hearing with Shanny.

Clarkson's heart was in the right place and it is a stupid rule to begin with, especially for not even getting into a fight.

I have no problem with Kessel getting a hearing. I also have no problem with him getting suspended for 3 preseason games. I'd bet he welcomed it, since most of the regulars hate preseason games.

I also have no problem with Clarkson getting suspended. But 10 regular season games? I believe that 10 games is harsh, even though i'm quite aware it's an automatic suspension. It's harsh because the guy who deliberately broke Sam Gagner's jaw got less! And on top of that, Clarkson didn't even fight.....he simply jumped on the ice to come to the rescue of his teammate since he didn't want to see him get killed by a 7-foot tall goon, who has a total of 1 goal in 6 seasons!

The rule is the problem.....it needs to be looked at again. Shanahan likely understood Clarkson's intentions, but he had no choice but to suspend him since the rule is very clear. But it makes no sense considering players have seriously injured other players and got much less.

The last thing the league wants is 14 + 14 players jumping off the bench to get involved in a chaotic situation, that's the reason for the automatic 10 game suspension. It makes complete and total sense. Clarkson had no business coming off the bench and got what he deserved. By the time he got out there 3 other players had already jumped Scott. If anything, Clarkson gave the Leafs a huge advantage by giving them numbers on the ice and allowing 2 players to pummel 1 which was pretty pathetic in itself on the Leafs part while all the other's were tied up.

I do agree with your point about players getting much less for much more but them's the breaks. Keep your ass on the bench!

Detroit Red Wings 5 Toronto Maple Leafs 2

Hey, it was only a meaningless pre-season game...but the Wings demolished the Leafs, outshooting them by almost a 2-1 margin and of course outscoring them by MORE than a 2-1 margin.

Three stars: 1. Zetterberg (1G, 1A), 2. Alfredsson (1G, 1A), 3. Datsyuk (2 great assists). No surprises here: the three guys you'd most expect to be the stars in a Detroit-Toronto game.

Well, maybe the only surprise was Jimmy Howard letting in two goals. Maybe he fell asleep from seeing so few shots? Of course the opposite was true for poor Leaf newcomer Jonathan Bernier. You had to feel sorry for the guy getting bombarded all night. Save percentage for Howard .895 was only 30 points better than Bernier's .865, so there's room for improvement for Jimmy.

As most experts have predicted, the realignment will probably result in a lot of easy games like this for the Wings this season, which is very good since they'll have lots of energy left for their Cup run. You have to feel sorry for the Leafs, though, as the realignment will definitely make it harder for them to compete - especially in a full season of 82 games.

I was hoping for an intelligent response on the subject of hockey. I did not get one, as the quoted post proves.

Surely your response does not belong in a serious hockey thread.

PS: Too bad about the Leafs - looks like yet another long, sad season for them.
