Not in self defense i sure do not mind it! Again if u would stand there and fight a guy twice your size who IS A FIGHTER and you are not, then like i said, you are either braindead of stupid! Or both!

So I guess if a no-talent goon like Colton Orr makes a move towards a non-fighter, then that non-fighter will be fully justified in using his stick as a weapon against Orr?

If you say "yes", then you are CONDONING the use of a hockey stick as a weapon ANY time a player makes an attacking move towards a less-tough player.

And if you say "no" - which I'm sure you will - then you are exposing yourself as a complete hypocrite who believes that stick use is only justified when it's committed by a Leaf!

Case closed: defendants Phil and Iggy both found guilty!

I agree but with exceptions like self defense, the second slash was uncalled for but in the heat of the moment we all react differently then when calm. Scott surprised me as well since even tho he is a enforcer, he usually would never go against the "code" of enforcers. Maybe he is on the juice and roid rage got the best of him.

I have been hearing from NHL ppl that He and also Buffalo's coach should both get a game or two but i seriously doubt it will happen.

Anyways it is over and done with and the Leafs will be better in the long run from all this as team bonding surely happens with events like last night so in a way, Merci Beaucoup John Scott!
I have no idea what that was about

But you can't use your stick like that..for any reason

Those days are over

I'm perplexed about John Scott

I never would have expected him to do that

Kaleta is a different story

100% bang on JC! You know had that been Colton Orr coming after Brad Marchand or someone else and if Marchand swung his stick at him...oh holy hell you would hear Iggy screaming from the rafters that Marchand should be banned for life but since it's his jerk off poster material Kessel well then it's justified as total self defense!! It's total hypocrisy with Iggy whenever it comes to anything Leaf related....

Ummmmmm K, you have some brown stuff on the end of your nose, per usual

The truth hurts bro...LOL.

The Lucic / Wreck fight was very good. I'd call it a draw, Lucic looked tired about 1/2 way through but landed the much cleaner shots. Not something I really want to see in the preseason though, no need to get hurt in a meaningless game but then again some here think the exhibition wins are very meaningful and all they have to look forward too ;)

Absolutely correct Grapes and a big :thumb:

I'd love to see SK and cairo (and heaven forbid, merlot lol) take on a guy twice their size who is a skilled fighter when assuming like Kessel, they (3 homer leaf blinder wearing haters) are not and also says "I am gonna jump you!" ... i bet their homer hating Leafs glasses would come off real quick and they would also need a trip to the john (not scott lol) to change their depends.

Don Cherry has Phil Kessel's back

Grapes has Phil's back

Good article & i totally agree with Grapes!

Joel was in the Islander organization for years

I do not think he will make the Caps though

He's a career minor leaguer

I think the post below from another hockey thread on the net sums it up best:

No surprise but league-sanctioned NHL culture has been thoroughly exposed by this incident. If Kessel's teammates had not quickly intervened what kind of beating would he have received? How seriously injured? Yet Scott's outright assault does not warrant a match penalty? Therefore the message is clear... unprovoked violence is ok, assault is ok, intentionally injuring your opponent is actually ok... as long as you do it with your fists aimed at your opponent's head and not a composite stick aimed at his well-padded shins. Yes, makes absolute sense. Player safety is obviously paramount. Right.

Hey BOYZ,

I'd love to see SK and cairo...and heaven forbid, merlot...3 homer leaf blinder wearing haters...

http://www.torontosun.com/2013/09/23/don-cherry-has-back-of-maple-leafs-phil-kessel

TORONTO - Sometimes you need to be a man and stand up for yourself when your manhood is challenged.

Phil Kessel didn’t do that.

Like a big baby, the Maple Leafs superstar went to the axe instead, swinging it as if Buffalo Sabres tough guy John Scott was a tree.

He looked gutless when he not only chickened out on a challenge to fight but then violently used his stick as a weapon.

Make that 4 leaf blinder wearing haters...this one named Joe Warrington who has been with the Toronto Sun for 20 years.

The trouble with you iggy is you don't have any balls to be honorable. Now you run to Cherry after knocking him forever. You make yourself look dumb by lying to cover a Leaf's ass for an absolute offense. Everyone in the hockey world knows your a coward to swing your stick...especially when you swing it at the back legs of someone who then is already defending himself against someone else.

However, there is one guaranteed excuse in this case that would have been accepted by all. A hockey fan in Ohio understood:

TMZ @Taschereau17

Only reason #Kessel was hacking at Scott is
because he forgot it was hockey season and not
golf season in Toronto.

1:55 PM - 23 Sep 2013 from Ohio, US, United States

Ohhhh, now we understand. It's not Kessel's fault, it's because he's in Toronto where you play a lot more golf than hockey, and the habit is very hard to break. Sorry Phil, we didn't get it. The rest of us are trained to think h-o-c-k-e-y when we see someone wearing skates on ice. Obviously Phil's head was still stuck thinking about his main sport...GOLF! It's also not easy for Phil when some man-crush fanboy has his head up Kessel's butt. :D

Cheers,

Merlot

Whats that? I think you forgot how NOBODY on the scabs stood up to Chara when Max Pac got ran head first into the boards 2 years ago, talk about a whole team of "Bitches" aka the Montreal Canadians. At least Kessel's teammate stood up for him and even one came of the bench to defend him. Thats something you would NEVER see in Montreal and for good reason, talk about cowards.

I don't know if my favourite Mod is still around but you should be careful. After all this is an "official" thread and those types of comments will surely get you suspended. :nono: Oh wait I just realized who I'm quoting................. never mind.

Lets get real here, any one of you who would stay there and take a beating from a guy twice your size instead of defending yourself by any means possibe are either braindead or just plain stupid, or both.

Actually if you have honor and testicles you do what non-fighter Josh Gorges did when career goon and twice his size Frazer McLaren attacked him last year. You defend yourself the best you can by either fighting back as Gorges did or at the very worst you grab onto the bigger guy and hold on until the refs or teammates come in. Only the biggest of cowards puts it in reverse and starts swinging his stick like a big sloppy pussy.

Kessel gets 3 Games, all preseason...habs fans were on their knees hoping and praying for at least 4 so they would not see him Oct 1 in the Bell Centre :D

The second slash is what got him the 3 games and deservedly so, i agree with the suspension, BUT, that Ogre John Scott deserves the same or more but oh well, Orr and McLaren witll take care of Scott in due time, no doubt.

Nice to see buffalo's new coach get fined at least. In other news David Clarkson may appeal his 10 game suspension.

Two observations:

1. In your world (and your world only!) Scott is an ogre but I suppose Orr and McLaren are fine, upstanding, super-skilled hockey players who have NOTHING to do with being "ogres" - HA HA HA HA HA!

2. You probably made a valid point by saying "Orr AND McLaren will take care of Scott". Yes, the AND is key because the gutless and honorless Leafs cannot fight fair. They need either weapons, sneak attacks from behind, or - as you have so CLEARLY pointed out - a TWO AGAINST ONE situation. Not only are the Leafs the worst franchise in the NHL but they are also the most gutless and unethical - totally lacking in sportsmanship.

And SURELY in YOUR world, Orr and McLaren will not be "ogres" when they DOUBLETEAM Scott.

In other news David Clarkson may appeal his 10 game suspension.

Nice to see that even though Clarkson only joined the Leafs recently, he has already perfectly adapted to the team's whining, crybaby, self-righteous philosophy. He'll fit in perfectly with the other babies in the organization.

One punch from a guy that much bigger and stronger could ruin a career or worse, it could of literally paralyzed or even killed the guy.

Exactly how many players in the history of the NHL have been "paralyzed" or "killed" as a result of a HOCKEY fight? Clue: The answer is somewhere between ZERO and NOTHING.

On the other hand, do the names Wayne Maki and Teddy Green ring a bell? Hint: stickswinging battle, ruined career, metal plate in head....

Do you HONESTLY think Scott would 1) want to and 2) attempt to "paralyze" or "kill" Phil? Come ON - he just wanted to teach the little shrimp a lesson about respect. Even if Phil's teammates or the linesmen did nothing (which WOULDN'T happen) Scott would not inflict any serious damage. He would do what Bob Probert did in such situations and hold back A LOT. Probie even held back on occasion when he faced OTHER enforcers. Then again, Probert was not a Colton Orr: first, Probie would have demolished Orr and second, Probie (unlike Colton Orr) actually knew how to play HOCKEY.

Marty St-Louis, who is a lot smaller than Kessel and who is also a FAR better player than Kessel, is a tough little cookie who would NEVER act like Phil did - but then again Marty has CLASS.

Your spelling and your grammatical skills leave a lot to be desired.

If you are saying that the Red Wings are crybabies, please back up your accusation by providing several examples. Okay, then, a COUPLE of examples. Okay, then, a SINGLE example.

Yeah, that's what I thought: you've got squat.
