Damn, Chara once again partly responsible on the Hawk's equalization as he lost the puck...

And clearly responsible on the second Chi's goal !

On the ice for 10 of the 11 last goals conceded !!!

The Hawks are the 2013 Stanley Cup Champions...

Congratulation to both teams, very nice playoffs !!

Boston will not lose another game in the finals, it is basically, "ovah".

This has to go into the Hall of Fame as the worst prediction ever: After Iggy made his prediction, the HAWKS won THREE STRAIGHT and the Stanley Cup. BOSTON never won another game!

(Congrats however to both teams - yes, BOTH teams - on their great showings.)

I was a little shocked at the end of this game. Looked like it was a Boston win in the bag and then the Bruins were caught flat footed on 2 plays where it looks like they were flat outhustled on aggressive scoring chances.

Consider that the Toews-Kane duo, in a larger, more difficult league, has now won 1 more cup than the Bobby Hull-Stan Mikita duo did in the 1960s. Toews and Kane have bagged 2. Hull and Mikita only one 1.

The Bruins just performed THE BIGGEST CHOKE JOB IN STANLEY CUP FINALS HISTORY!!!!!!

I'm wondering if this isn't a bigger CHOKE JOB by Boston than the one by the Leafs in the first round..... i mean, to get two goals scored against in the final 2 minutes to lose the Stanley Cup???? BIGGEST CHOKE JOB IN NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS HISTORY!!!!!!!!! (almost as bad as the Red Sox two Septembers ago!) Imagine how depressed the Bruins players must feel right now!!! Wow!!!

On another note, CONGRATULATIONS TO PIERRE GAUTHIER ON HIS STANLEY CUP VICTORY!!!!! Well deserved, Monsieur Gauthier!! :D

Now Doc IF you're correct (and I'm not saying that you are) wouldn't that mean that the LEAFS choked against chokers?

Yes indeed, the Leafs choked against the biggest chokers!

(but i still think not winning a baseball championship in 86 years was the biggest choke job of them all).

Congrats to Chicago they deserved it. :D

Yes they did, although someone had predicted they would LOSE 3 in a row and they actually WON 3 in a row!

Nice to see an Original Six team win the Cup again!

Cups by Original Six since 1967 expansion:

Montreal 10
Detroit 4
Boston 3
Chicago 2
Rangers 1
Toronto zero

Congrats Hawks! Once you survived Detroit, the rest fell into place pretty easily in spite of a valiant effort by the Bruins.

Ouch, 17 seconds! IN THE FINALS! Choke in the season, first round or second, but not in 17 seconds in the FINALS! :thumb: Game "ovah" Season "ovah" and since no real Hawks fans here, onto the draft and then free agency!

What a great, evenly matched series!! If the B's had to lose to anyone I'm happy it was the Blackhawks. They're a classy, clean, no bullshit, hard playing team. Who knows what would have happened had it gone to OT or a Game 7.

As for the Conn Smythe, I would have given that to Duncan Keith, that guy is an absolute all around beast on skates!! Can't believe he wasn't in the Norris running.

Yea but by choking in the first round you had nothing to cheer about for the past month+!! Far worse what Toronto did in their very rare playoff appearance. As I said, it was Game 6, who knows what would have happened in OT or game 7.

Im a real Hawk fan... its not because your a fan of your hometown(or province) team first(thats normal) than you can't like another team. Love the Hawks since they got Toews and Kane.

I guess a team that NEVER makes it to the finals can NEVER choke in the finals.

 Agree...

In no way we can laugh at the bruins this year.

But we shouldnt be too tough with the Leafs. From my experience, talking about the Leafs anywhere in North America, is the best way to have a good laugh and make news friends...

im sorry but yeah i will laugh at Boston... im just so glad they lost :p

We where on xbox live me and my friends and i was checking the score on yahoo on "almost" real time(updated every 30 secs or so) and at 9 mins remaining our Gears of War game ended, and me and one of my buddy telled the other we where gonna check the game. Another friend was already doing it(you can watch it on xbox live and speak at the same time) and just as i go to my dashboard my friend says "shit your gonna be piss" Boston just scored... I was like "ok do i REALLY im curse..." cause everytime i tune it to watch a game, my team loose... but when i don't they win... so i decide to watch anyway... and then the big final wich was AWESOMETACULAR and BAM thats it, done , nananana hey hey good bye boston crap... Oh that was sweet....

That really made my night big time, so yeah, because of this choke at the end especially, i think we can laugh at them. Lets face it, its a miracle these clowns got in the final... they can thanks there goalie, the only one in the team i actually have respect for...

Hello Gentlemen,

CONGRATULATIONS: to the Toronto Maple Leafs on a very fine season, making the playoffs giving everything they had and taking a very tough opponent to 7 games.

CONGRATULATIONS: to the Montreal Canadiens on a magnificent reversal going from worse to first in just one year, holding the lead all year and taking the division title.

CONGRATULATIONS: to the Detroit Red Wings on going all the way to the third round of the playoffs and taking the best team in the NHL to the brink of elimination.

CONGRATULATIONS: to the Boston Bruins putting it all together against daunting opponents and taking a fantastic season all the way to the 6th game of the NHL Finals.

CONGRATULATIONS:
to the 2013 STANLEY CUP CHAMPION
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

on a magnificent dominating season run, the toughest and the best team in the NHL.

JEERS: to lockouts, free-for-alls, pissing, personal agendas, anger, bitterness, and bad excuses...and most of all a sadly shortened season.

bonne chance et bonheur à tous

Now Cam Neely finally has an excuse to fire Claude Julien, whom he's despised ever since he's been there. My sources have told me over the past few months that there is a lot of turmoil within the Boston Bruins organization at the upper management echelon. You have the Peter Chiarelli camp vs. the Cam Neely camp. If Julien gets (unfairly) fired, we'll get a hint at which camp prevailed of the other.

Heroes during these finals:

Bryan Bickell, Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Patrick Kane, Milan Lucic, Jonathan Toews, Tukka Rask, Duncan Keith, Corey Crawford, Claude Julien.

Zeroes:

Can't think of any.

Playoffs zeroes:

Pittsburgh Penguins. What a tremendous disappointment they were to all hockey fans. Tyler Seguin, who had an absolutely brutal playoffs. Had he been able to score just a few goals, the Bruins would likely be the Stanley Cup champions today.

p.s. Why did Vancouver jump the gun in hiring the despised (by all) John Tortorella? What was the hurry? No one else would have hired him anyway (other than possibly the Bruins had they fired Julien). If Claude Julien is fired in Boston, Vancouver will be kicking themselves for not being more patient. Julien would be perfect for Vancouver's team.

Flyers buy-out Ilya Bryzgalov & Daniel Briere

The Philadelphia Flyers are parting ways with goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov after just two seasons.

The club used the second of their two compliance buyout options on Tuesday to buy out the Russian netminder. On Monday, the Flyers announced they they will buy out the final two years of winger Daniel Briere's contract.

"I met with Ilya this morning and informed him that we are going to exercise a compliance buy out of his contract," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement. "This was a very difficult business decision to make for us and we want to thank Ilya for his time here and wish him all the best moving forward."

Bryzgalov was originally signed to a nine-year, $51 million contract prior to the start of the 2011-12 season. The Flyers will have to pay him two-thirds of the balance owed on his remaining term, or $23 million.

Combined with the Briere buyout, the Flyers have saved themselves just over $12 million against the cap in each of the next two seasons.

It looks like Paul Holmgrem has once again broken his word. Last week, he had promised Bryzgalov's agent that he wasn't going to buy him out. Two years ago, he had promised Jeff Carter's agent that he wouldn't trade him when he signed his big contract. Shortly after, Carter was shipped off to Columbus. The Flyers will now have to pay Bryzgalov for the next 14 years. Bryzgalov will have ended up getting $40 million for only 2 seasons in Philly. How can Paul Holmgren still have a job??
