My Rangers had to start the season on the road since MSG was still being upgraded

In those first 9 road games, we went 3-6...:help:

Since then, we have been on fire on the road..

In the last 19 games, we are 15-4

If only we could win at home....:noidea:

Lundquist has got his game back. Rangers playing very well. Marc Staal solid on defence. But is Callaghan being shopped around at the wrong time? Will trading him kill momentum?

The Olympic break could not come at a worse time, Canada's team (Toronto) is playing their best hockey of the season. Oh well at least if gives most of the team time to rest and get ready for the march to the playoffs.

Does anyone know if Max Pac is ok?

Dare i say it is official, Phil Kessel is a star and on the verge of becoming a Superstar in the NHL. (tyvm Boston and Burke!) Cant wait to see him skate all over that bigger ice in Sochi for the next 2 weeks.

Many potential free agents are overpricing themselves because of the salary cap's increase, which is also expected to keep on increasing for the next few years. Which is why i wouldn't be surprised if the habs are unable to sign P.K. Subban, who likely wants 'Shea Webber' type of money to remain with the organization, which just happens to be located in the highest tax bracket in North America. This is why the habs often have to overpay players to make up the fiscal difference.

What i potentially see Subban doing is to hold out for a one-year contract, and then test the market, knowing full well a team such as the Flyers will give in to his contractual demands. Don't be surprised if the Flyers repeat history in signing RFA Subban to a ridiculous offer sheet, which they already did in the case of Shea Webber nearly 2 years ago. Subban is also willing to roll the dice & wait until August & go to arbitration. Sign a one-year deal and then go free less than a year later, unless the habs give him everything he wants and overpay him. I said last season that he winning the Norris would come back and haunt the team & now we see it.

The habs also have to make sure they have enough money left to sign & re-sign other players. Players expected to leave the habs (incl. buy-outs) are: Gionta, Markov, Parros, Bourque, Murray & Bouillion. Briere may also be a player who'll be bought out. Let's face it, Michel Therrien has no use for such a player. He loves 4th line-type players & Briere doesn't fit this mold. They'll need money to replace those players & re-sign potential RFA's. Will Subban force them to break the bank? Time will tell.

What the John Tavares injury means is that Islanders are done as far as the playoffs go and Garth Snow will look to trade Thomas Vanek and Andrew MacDonald if anyone wants them. Anyone want them?

Every single team in the league would want them for their playoffs run if the price is right. Evgeni Nabokov also will attract a lot of interest. All three players are unrestricted free agents after this season and that's why i wouldn't pay too much unless i'm 100% certain i can re-sign that player for next season or so. But considering the high price the Isles paid to get Vanek, i doubt they have much of a choice but to ask a high price in order to trade him. But i doubt the amount they'll get will be as high as the one they paid for.

Buffalo will also look at dealing many expiring contracts. I expect Ryan Miller to be traded. Same thing with Steve Ott, Matt Moulson and Henrik Tallinder. I'd take those players anytime!! As long as the price is reasonable, of course.

It also wouldn't surprise me to see Andre Markov & Brian Gionta get moved out of Montreal. Both are unrestricted free agents at the end of the season. The habs don't really want to bring back their captain (Gionta), and Markov is 35 years old and is rumoured to want a 4-year contract, which the habs don't want to do (can't blame them). The habs would agree to a 2-year deal, but Markov wants his next contract to be his last one, and expects to retire at age 40.

Their offense and defense sucks anyway, so the habs would be crazy not to trade those two players if a serious offer came forward.

p.s. Rangers captain Ryan Callaghan will also likely be dealt.

Carey Price out with lower body injury; to miss at least the next 2 games according to coach

MONTREAL - Add Canadiens goaltender Carey Price to the list of casualties from the Sochi Olympics.

Price, who was named the top goalie at the Olymics after shutting out the U.S. in the semifinals and Sweden in the final, returned to the ice with the Habs on Wednesday morning but went to the dressing room after facing one shot during a power play drill.

“Carey aggravated an injury during the Olympics but he played through it,” said coach Michel Therrien.

Price had been scheduled to back up Peter Budaj on Wednesday night against the Detroit Red Wings. Instead, the team has recalled Dustin Tokarski from the Hamilton Bulldogs to serve as backup.

Therrien said Price will remain in Montreal while the team travels to Pittsburgh to face the Penguins on Thursday night.

He said Price will be re-evaluated before Saturday’s home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

p.s. What i've been hearing is that the injury is more severe than they hint, mostly because they might want to trade for a goalie prior to next week's trade deadline & by implying that Price's injury isn't serious, the habs hope to keep the price of a goaltender down. It's strange that they claim he re-injured a knee or groin in Sochi, while letting him practice yesterday. Also ironic that Mike Babcock just said that it's news to him that Price got injured in Sochi.

VANCOUVER—The Vancouver Canucks have traded goaltender Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers, ending a roller-coaster saga that has gone on for almost three years.

I find it very amusing that the Nucks had the "problem" of having two pretty good goalies and that Mike Gillis ultimately "solved" the "problem" by getting rid of BOTH.

The Rangers sure paid the price for Marty St-Louis. They shipped captain Ryan Callaghan, a 1st round pick in 2015 and a 2nd round pick in 2014 which i'm told could be a 1st-rounder if Callaghan isn't re-signed by Tampa. The Rangers have stated that St-Louis will be in the lineup tonight against the Leafs.

In other news, Ales Hemsky was finally traded by the Oilers. He's headed to Ottawa.

And a shocking move: former Oilers #1 goaltender (and a former 1st-round pick) Devan Dubnyk was traded to the Habs for future considerations. Dubnyk, who is a giant at 6'6, will serve as insurance until Carey Price returns from his injury. Price was put on injured reserve a few days ago & his return is uncertain. Once he does return, there is no guarantee that Dubnyk will be sent to Hamilton. Many now believe that Petr Budaj might be left holding the shorter end of the stick.

In other news, Cory Conacher was picked up off waivers by Buffalo, and the Bruins picked up Corey Potter off waivers from Edmonton in order to add some help on their depleting defence.

Expected to be traded later today: Matt Moulson, Tomas Vanek, Jaroslav Halak, Tim Thomas, Nick Schultz, Ryan Kesler, Mike Cammalleri & even Martin Brodeur, who reportedly told GM Lou Lamoriello that he wants out of New Jersey. There is also word that the Flyers are trying to deal defenceman Andrei Mezzaroz.

News alert: Marian Gaborik was just traded to the Los Angeles Kings by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Heading the other way are Matt Frattin & two picks.

Tim Thomas was shipped off to Dallas for Dan Ellis. Many people were saying that there was no way for Thomas & Luongo to co-exist & I suppose FLA management was aware of this.

Marcel Goc was sent to Pittsburgh, and the Bruins just acquired Andrej Mezzaros from Philly for a third-rounder. Mezzaros is the final piece in solidifying that Boston defence. I like this trade for Boston on the short-term. Maybe a 3rd-rounder is too high of a price to pay for Mezzaros, but i would have made the same move if i were Peter Chiarelli. If Boston is able to sign Mezzaros (he's UFA after this season), then the deal might tip in Boston's favor.

Vanek, Cammalleri & Moulson still not traded. Heard Mtl is now one of Vanek's suitors. Also heard Lamoriello won't trade Brodeur, and that there are many suitors for Ryan Kesler.

Ten minutes to go.............

p.s. Wouldn't a Matt Moulson/Montreal Canadiens pairing be a natural?

Doc, you think Halak is going to move again after being traded to Buffalo a few days ago? The Tampa / NYR trade is grossly in favor of the Lightning. Way too much to give up for a 38 year old guy.

I don't think there are any more teams left to take on Halak. He was heavily rumoured to be heading to Minnesota, but i was told Buffalo's asking price was way too high so the Wild picked up Ilya Bryzgalov from Edmonton for much cheaper. With Dallas picking up Tim Thomas & Edmonton re-signing Ben Scrivens, which team is left who would want Halak?

I was surprised that Tampa managed to get that much out of the Rangers since New York was the only place St-Louis agreed to lift his no-trade clause for. In other words, the ball was supposed to be in the Rangers' corner. Now it almost looks like it was the other way around. But if you look at it from Tampa Bay's side, you needed to be blown away by an offer for St-Louis in order to part with him at this time. He had been carrying the team on his back all season long and had them among the top 2-3 teams in the east for most of the season. Losing St-Louis, the team captain, will hurt the team in the short run. But yes, he's 38 years old, so they'll win in the long run.

The deadline has passed..........

Just heard that Matt Moulson & Cody McCormick were traded to Minnesota for Torrey Mitchell and picks.

Raphael Diaz was traded to the Rangers by the Canucks.

Just heard that Tomas Vanek & David Legwand were traded. Not sure where Vanek was traded to, but word is that Detroit got Legwand.

And finally, heard that the habs have made a trade.....no word on details yet. Vanek maybe?

p.s. Ryan Kesler, Matt Cammalleri & Martin Brodeur will remain with their respective teams.
