The Leafs deserved a better fate, but lost because of very poor goaltending on the part of their backup goalie.

Bad news: Detroit lost to Columbus 4-2. Our good friend Jimmy Howard was in nets and had an .885 save percentage.

Good news: Both Red Wing goals were scored by Goose, assisted by Tatar - the Datsyuk and Zetterberg of the next decade or so. Goose has been the hottest goal scorer in the league in the last quarter of the season: 8 goals in his last 5 games, 20 in his last 24!!!! The kid has only played 47 games this season and he has 25 goals - the future's so bright he's gotta wear shades.

Meanwhile Bernier was back for Toronto's home game against the Blues but the Leafs lost anyway (sixth in a row). Can't blame Bernier for a 5-3 loss at home when his team was outshot 49-25!

I feel for leafs nation. This reminds me of something Burke once said " it is like watching a eighteen wheeler go off a cliff, never seen anything like it." I do not know what else to say, it is very sad what happening with that team.

I don't know if you guys realize this but there are 4 teams tied with 80 points, Columbus, Detroit, Washington, and Toronto, and these 4 teams are fighting for 2 available playoff spots. 2 of these teams will make it, and 2 will go home and watch the games on TV. But at the moment all 4 are all tied in points.

Which 2 will make the playoffs?

I've been following this site for about five years and they've been always right on the money.

As you can see, based on upcoming schedule and wins in regulation, the odds are now heavily in favour of Detroit and Columbus.

PS. Go Wings Go (in OT or SO) tonight. :D

An interesting site - thank you. In fact, the Leafs have the lowest odds of making it from among those four teams. :thumb:

Congrats to Doc and the Habs for their victory over the Wings.]JIMMY HOWARD and the Wings now have only one game in hand over the Leafs.

First star: Thomas Vanek with 6 shots, 3 hits, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points. Some people had previously questioned this acquisition - maybe they're no longer asking.

Second star: Tomas Tatar with 4 shots, 4 hits, 2 goals.

A poor night for Goose...by HIS standards. Hard to believe but he had no goals (!) and only 1 assist. It's been 7 games since Goose was last goal-less.

To be fair, the Red Wings deserved a better fate. But their fate was sealed by the ineptitude of goaltender Jimmy Howard, who has been terrible for most of the season. The habs could only get one line going (Vanek-Desharnais-Pacioretty), but it was enough since Howard was fighting the puck all night long and regularly giving huge rebounds to the opposing team.

P.K. Subban played absolutely terrible. He was on the ice for every single Detroit goal & was benched at one point by Mike Therrien. Everytime he'd be on the ice, Detroit would get one or more scoring chances due to his blatant giveaways or being out of position.

However, the best team did prevail at the end.

Great news today.......

Tim Bozon is out of the hospital & back home. They were fearing for his life just a few days ago.

And, Charles Wang has decided he had enough of losing millions with the crappy Islanders and he's put the team up for sale. Destination Quebec??

Last night the Boston Bruins honored the courage and sacrifice of two Boston fire fighters who died and others who were seriously injured as well as all those who put their lives on the line. The fire in the posh/pricey Back Bay area of the city was explosive. A short four doors down from the fire was the residence of Tom Brady who witnessed the episode and made a surprise emotional call to WEEI to show his gratitude and appreciation for the "real heros".

"On behalf of my entire family, I want to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to the Boston Fire Department and the families of our brave and selfless firefighters who gave their lives for our protection and safety today, and to the entire firefighting community who protect us each and every day. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers."

"We as athletes think that we’re heroes, but when you witness firsthand what I saw yesterday, you realize who the real heroes are in this world. It’s the people that work hard to protect our lives and protect our safety and our freedoms in America — certainly the firefighters and Boston Police and the state troopers. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart."

The Boston Bruins white-washed the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Cheers, :thumb:
