Updated NHL standings

Hey Doc, I see you're posting results again after several months of not doing so. Were the standings pretty much the same all season long, or were there lengthy periods when the results looked different from now?

Also, since you're back in posting mode - after your break of several months - could you please inform all of us how David Clarkson is doing? I know he made a big splash when he was signed to a huge 7 year, $35 million plus contract so I'm wondering if it was a good deal for the team that snatched him up.

Thanks in advance.

They have missed Bolland but not as much as at first thought. Getting even a 75% Dave Bolland back soon (he may be 100% but who knows yet) is like hitting the lottery for a young team like Toronto who can surely use his verteran leadership and winning pedigree.
I stand corrected, you are right it is Bolland that they miss.

The problem is that his "winning pedigree" was with a GOOD team - not a bunch of losers who could only make the playoffs once in the past decade.

BOYZ!!!

Hey Doc, thanks for advertising the Bruins incredible winning streak for everyone to see. It's a good thing the Leafs have also won a game or two or I would have to do it myself. That's right buddy, the BOSTON BRUINS are the hottest team in the NHL.

That's 8 in a row buddy. The last time the Leafs did anything 8 in a row it was missing the playoffs. :D

ON FIRE BABY!!!

They've even won a few Stanley Cups since 1967. :thumb: ;)

Cheers bud,

Price didn't even make the trip to Buffalo.

Regarding last night's game, this had to be the worst refereeing display that i've ever seen in the past 20 years. The referees literally robbed Ottawa of that victory on numerous times. That's what happens when you have a referree from Trois-Rivieres refereeing a game in Montreal. These two same referees were also in charge of the game the last time the habs made such a dramatic comeback, that time against the Rangers. ERIC FURLATT is despised all over the league (except in Montreal) from what i read. He should be kicked out of the NHL. the other guy, Dean Morton, isn't much better. Quite a team these two incompetents make!

Wow blowing a 4-1 lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the third. Why does that sound so familiar.

The longest road trip of the season for the young Leafs now heads back East for 2 winnable games in Washington and detroit.

Gee maybe the Washington game wasn't so "winnable" after all.

Congrats to the Caps on beating the Leafs but I guess it's not really that hard to beat a team that gets outshot 14-2 (!!!!) in the opening period. And a team that ALLOWS itself to get outshot 14-2 (!!!!) obviously has very little skill and even less pride. But then...we already knew that about the Leafs.

Nor was the game in Chicago tonight ;)

Quite true. The Wings - WITH JIMMY HOWARD IN NETS and most of the lineup comprised of the Griffins - lost to the DEFENDING STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS in a ROAD GAME. What a shock - not!

By the way, unlike fans of a certain OTHER team, I did not make the ridiculous error of bragging in advance that this game was "winnable".

And now that the Leafs are again BEHIND the Habs in the standings - as they have been for most of this season (and in fact for most of the past 97 years - that's right 97 - not just the usual 47 that we usually refer to) will you again treat us to some more bold-type, large-font headlines and updated standings?

BTW, there are at least 3 other teams in the conference nipping right at the heels of the leafs...and with games in hand.

I always look forward to Leafs/Habs matchups. Always a great atmosphere in whoever's building! :thumb:

p.s. However, the Leafs will beat Detroit tomorrow & once again reclaim 2nd spot in their division.

Not any more. Just a few days later and look what's happened: Habs are 3 points ahead of the Leafs, who have quickly plummeted to 5th in the Conference, with several teams right at their heels and with games in hand. Meanwhile the Griffins - oops sorry, the Wings - can still make a move.

I figured I'd provide this update since Doc might be going on hiatus again with his.
