Merlot, every US channels talked about the fact Bruins disrespected Montreal during the serie.

Baloney. Everything I'm hearing by the commentators and the fans has been critical of how the Bruins played on the whole, without spirit, without drive, and with inadequate technical skills. Fans are looking to improvement not at the Canadiens respect crisis.

Look, if Marchand is a piece of crap, then he's a piece of crap...Canadian born and raised. I for one never let uniforms matter concerning character. But when some come here and infuse a hockey discussion, no matter how intense the rivalry, with allusions to racism and wholesale SICK labels like "white trash" then it's definite it's reached into a psychosis of insecurities and hate. What I've seen written by a few Canadiens fans is the text equivalent of those Montreal riots. I can't remember anyhting like that in years of angry Red Sox-Yankees posts ever going that far off the deep end. Some of you guys have lost all standing to criticize the Leafs fans again after your posts.

Rangers destroy Habs, 7-2, in Montreal

MONTREAL — A House of Horrors no longer. Instead, what went down on Saturday afternoon was a Bell Centre Beatdown.

The Rangers quieted a handful of demons along with the raucous home crowd in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, hammering the Canadiens in a 7-2 win that got this best-of-seven series off on an unexpected high note.

“The best part about playing on the road is making great plays and not letting them get into it, not letting them have something to cheer about,” Marc Staal said. “That’s a good feeling when you’re able to do that in a road rink — especially here.”

This creaking and wonderful building was one first-year Rangers coach Alain Vigneault had to make a joke about, explaining to his team throughout the season that “there are no ghosts here.” Before their 1-0 win on Nov. 16, the Rangers had lost eight in a row in Montreal. And goalie Henrik Lundqvist had failed to register a win here since March 17, 2009, sitting four straight in favor of a backup, his most recent start coming Jan. 15, 2012.

“You guys like to talk about it, you like to ask me about it, I haven’t played here in a while, but it’s still the same game,” said Lundqvist, who finished with 20 saves on 22 shots, none bigger than early in the second period when he made dazzling stops on P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty to keep the lead at 2-0.

“Last time we played here, we had a different team and I think I’ve grown as a goalie, as well. But every time you play a game, you have to show yourself and your teammates that you can play. So, yeah, we got a great start here.”

The Rangers scored seven goals from seven different players — including Rick Nash, his first of the playoffs — the first time the franchise has done that in the postseason since 1983. Eleven players had at least one point, and it was the most goals the Rangers have scored in the postseason since a 7-0 win over the Trashers in 2007.

“There is a lot of hockey left,” said defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who was an offensive powerhouse, going to the net to help produce Mats Zuccarello’s goal that made it 2-0 early in the first, and later scoring the fifth goal on a power play. “We can’t fall into the trap of just looking at the score.”

It looks like the Canadiens and their fans were too busy obsessing with Boston to get ready for the next game. Did the pure unsoiled Canadiens and their fans forget you get NOTHING ofr winning a second round series??? Apparently, because the result shows a total failure to mentally show up.

Hey, there's two more rounds of hockey to play...if you get by this one. Play like that again...and you'll get only 3 more games.

Price get replaced because he was hurt or because he just sucked today?

Price was 20-24 giving up 4 goals in 2 periods, BEFORE he got hurt...unless they're dumb enough to keep hurt goalies in.

I am on st Catherine street...and all red t-shirt are complaining loll

Be very careful. I was there in late April once during the first round and after just the first game the CAR-BE-QUES started. Yup just one game, not against Boston, and the insecurities BLAZED!!!

WOE CANADA!

Budaj has allowed 2 goals on 4 shots!!! A save % of .500!

None of the goals scored on Budaj were his fault. He was totally deserted by his team on those goals & even Ken Dryden would have been helpless on those goals.

The Rangers are a totally different team than the Bruins. The Rangers' style is a lot more similar to the Habs than the Bruins ever were. The Rangers are very quick, and as Iggy pointed out, have one of the best transition games in the entire league right now.

I really like the Rangers' defence. The threesome of Ryan McDonagh, Marc Staal & Dan Girardi is as good as any other top 3 in the league, minus Chicago.

I love the mix of veterans/young players they have. Martin St-Louis became one of the leaders on that team over the past two weeks & Brad Richards hasn't played better since he first joined the Rangers. Rick Nash is playing a great two-way game. Benoit Pouliot is having one of his best seasons ever playing on that very effective fourth line.

And best of all, they have King Henrik........one of the best goalies in the league over the past 10 seasons and on his way to a hall-of-fame career. After losing to Carey Price & Canada at the Olympics in the gold medal game, he's a man on a mission. The team also wants to win for future hall-of-famer Martin St-Louis and his mother's recent passing has given the team a much-needed jolt.

Alain Vigneault is showing why he's now recognized as one of the top coaches in hockey and he's been to the Stanley Cup finals just a few years ago. He's learned from his mistakes and will not allow himself to be outcoached by Michel Therrien. He's a class act & i'm very happy for his success.

Go Rangers!!! :thumb:

p.s. Anyone have any doubts that Brandon Prust won't be playing in the next game? Did you see the tongue-lashing he got from Gerard Gallant in the third period??

I am sure that Ryan Callahan isn't happy with his decision to pass on the contract offer

He's a free agent soon

Would he come back ?

Best Regards

I know it is a tough loss and expectations were high but get over it. From hating the Montreal Canadiens, their fans, and then the country, don't you

think, is excessive. I.E. WOE CANADA

The word 'respect' came from Subban. I wonder why ? .........and then it was blown out of proportion by many even the press.

Putting everyone in one basket is a very narrow minded.

Round 2 results:

Myself = 4 for 4
marc7, Joe.t, & Special K = 3 for 4
man77777 = 2 for 4
sharkman = 1 for 4

Conference finals:

East: MTL vs NYR - MTL in 7
West: CHI vs LA - LA in 7

Stanley Cup Finals:

My heart says MTL but my brain and wallet would say the Habs have a 30% chance versus Chicago and 5% chance versus Los Angeles. :(

Just a coincidence. The incident happened because he happened to get tripped up while going at full speed.

You are correct, he was involved in a similar play with Fleury. And that's exactly why i'm saying it wasn't intentional. I mean, why the hell would he want to get that lousy Fleury out of any game?? :rolleyes:

So now it looks like it's Petr Budaj's chance to shine. That's what happens when you have an average team who relies way too much on a great goalie to win. Lesson learned!!
