We always read from you why the Leafs are a bunch of losers, and yadi yadi yada, but can you explain to us why the Wings are only 2 points ahead of them at this point of the season?

Sure: the leafs always collapse at the END of a season, which is why the Wings end up in the playoffs and the leafs don't. And naturally at the END of the season, the Wings - like so many other teams - are far more than a mere 2 points ahead of the hopeless 23rd place leafs.

Whats the standings say? I said, what do the standings say?

Glad you asked. Here's your answer:

The final standings say:

The leafs came 6th out of 8 teams in the Atlantic Division

The leafs came 12th out of 16 teams in the Eastern Conference

The leafs came 23rd out of 30 teams in the NHL

Bottom line: Whichever way you look at it the leafs sucked...again.

Great news!!!! What a way to end the year!!!! The Leafs will have their captain and best defenceman with them for many years to come!! Hip-hip hooray!!!! :thumb:

Yes indeed: a GREAT way to end the year. And as for their "captain" and "best defenceman" (?????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I say Hip-hip- hahahahahahahahahahaha..........

29 other teams are PRAYING that Dion is with the leafs for many years to come!

Why are there no Senaturd fans on here? Probably all hiding like cairo will be once the Dead Things fall out of a playoff spot.

Here's a post that would have been prophetic if the name "cairo" was changed to one of the leaflovers and if "Dead Things" was changed to "leafs".

BTW:

Cairo doesn't hide but leaflovers obviously do.

Wings don't miss the playoffs (at least for the past 23 seasons) but leafs almost always do.

a smallish team like Montreal tends to wear down as the season progresses. If the Leafs play continues as has been lately, they can easily catch the team in Quebec.

End of season comparison:

Montreal: 46-28-8, 100 points, plus 11
Toronto: 38-36-8, 84 points, MINUS 25

Not even close!

Say what you want about Carey (red light) Price, but one word that must be used about him is consistent, like tonight he was consistent once again for letting in his usual 4 goals (usually more so it was actually a good night for ole Red Light) per game in another scabs loss. He being the potential #1 goalie for Team Canada in Sochi gives new meaning to the words Oh Canada .... more like "Oh holy S**T! please Canada, Not Red Light"! :faint:

Well "red light" as you call him won the gold and was the goalie MVP.

Meanwhile in the NHL let's compare his season stats to Bernier's:

Price: 34-20-5, 2.32 goals against average, .927 save percentage, 6 shutouts, made playoffs
Bernier: 26-19-7, 2.68 goals against average, .923 save percentage, 1 shutout, FAILED TO MAKE PLAYOFFS

Price is superior in EVERY SINGLE STAT. (Not to knock Bernier, who was the ONLY reason the leafs finished 23rd and not 30th!)

Kessel will sign a MAX contract with the Leafs, he loves playing in the Centre of the Hockey Universe and the Leafs are glad they have him. Hope Seguin is happy in Big D!

Kessel: 82 games played, 37 goals, 43 assists, 80 points. MINUS 5. FAILED to make playoffs. 14.3% on faceoffs.

Seguin: 79 games played, 37 goals, 47 assists, 84 points. PLUS 17. MADE playoffs. 41.5% on faceoffs.

Seguin is younger, less expensive, and BETTER in every way. Yet ANOTHER botched move by leaf management (thank Burkie for this one).

BTW, Taylor Hall tied Phil in points (80) even though Taylor played 7 FEWER games. Oh yeah, he's ALSO younger, less expensive and BETTER than Phil.

And finally, if Phil REALLY loves it in the Center of Hockey Loserdom, it's only because he can have Tyler as his rent-free roommate.

baby steps bro, it takes time to recover from the mess JFJ brought to the Centre of the Hockey Universe and things have finally been turned around.

Really? Looks like the same old same old, with the leafs FAILING to make the playoffs as usual.

Ok, with the best enforcer in the entire NHL, Colton Orr, getting his first practice in today, it is only a matter of time until he is laying the beat down on the other 29 teams in the league.

Here are Orr's stats on the completed season:

Games played 54
Goals ZERO
Assists ZERO
Points ZERO
MINUS 3

Beatdowns? You HAVE to be kidding.

One more USELESS and WASTED roster spot on the 23rd place leafs.

Lupul is second to only SID THE KID! :) If he can stay healthy he will be a top 10 scorer in the NHL. bwhahahaahahaah

Lupul - by his very fragile standards - stayed fairly healthy, playing 69 games.

In 69 games he managed 22 goals and 22 assists - not bad but EXTREMELY far from being a top 10 or even top 30 (!) scorer EVEN if we pro-rated it to 82 games, it would be around 53 points. You lose...again.

Love RC and he is right that the Leafs have not put a complete game together yet this season but have won 6 of 7...good teams find a way to win and that is what is happening in TO. /QUOTE]

Glad you love Carlyle - too bad that he'll probably be ridden out of hogtown on a rail after yet ANOTHER disaster of a season.

And you were right about good teams finding a way to win...but since the execrable leafs only "found" a way to win 2 of their last 14 games (!!!!!!!!) I guess they are definitely NOT "a good team".

Well, with that kind of geriatric performance, I guess the Leafs don't have much to worry about when they'll play against the "Dead" Wings a couple of months from now! ;)

Wings beat leafs 3 of 4 times they played.

Wings made playoffs. Leafs FAILED.

Wings finished with 93 points, leafs with 84.

NO FREAKIN' CONTEST!

I agree with Reverdy. Mr. Alfredsson will regret leaving his beloved Senators for the declining Red Wings, who are the hockey personification of the Detroit economy. Sad.

Mr. Alfredsson MADE the playoffs. His former team, the "beloved Senators" did not...and (needless to say) the pitiful leafs FAILED...as usual... to come CLOSE to making the playoffs.

Simple, the Leafs are a young team on the rise and the dead things best years are long gone.

1. The leafs aren't that young.
2. The Wings aren't that old.
3. The Wings are out-and-out BETTER than the miserable leafs...as the FACTS have proven yet AGAIN this season.

Yes, the Leafs are now a young and hungry team, with depth. As for the Wings, what would happen if Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Howard went down? Can you imagine??

1. The leafs have "depth" all right - they ended up "deep" down in 23rd place, well OUT of playoff contention.
2. You don't have to imagine: The Wings were without those three for huge chunks of the season...and they still made the playoffs and finished 9 points ahead of the hopeless leafs.

Question: Should the Detroit Red Wings not make the playoffs this season, is it time to sell the house & start rebuilding from scratch?? Will Babcock survive the season should they fail to make the playoffs? Have the players tuned out to his nonsense?

Question: Since the toronto maple leafs again FAILED to make the playoffs this season, is it time to sell the house and start rebuilding from scratch? Will Carlyle survive the season since they FAILED to make the playoffs. Have the players tuned out to his nonsense?

Hello Real Hockey Fans,
Red Light Price was as usual, in fine form letting another 4 pucks pass by him. Man, is that Montreal defense horrible or what?

Final stats on season:

Montreal allowed 204 goals.
Toronto allowed...wait for it....256 GOALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Panthers played the leafs 4 times this season. The Panthers won 3. 'Nuff said, as the expression goes.

That pretty much sums up the Red Wings' record against the Panthers, who dominated the broken wings all season long.

Wings=some skill, some luck, no guts, no pride. ZERO!

'Crusty' barely made the playoffs with the broken wings. Barely. They snuck in through the back door and in the LAST playoff position. They'll quickly get booted out by the Boston Bruins, a team with skill, pride, guts & the will to win. I predict the Bruins in 5. You see, making the playoffs for a lousy team like the broken wings is a total waste of time. I'm also curious at how many empty seats we'll be seeing at the Detroit (a.k.a. America's favorite slum) games considering the cost of tickets will be higher than usual & the fact the Detroit economy is down the dumpster.
