Looks like Paul Ranger decided that "Delay of Game" Bernier has played enough hockey for THIS season.

At least the Leafs have a future. The Dead Things' only future is out of the playoffs for years to come.

Question: How did this prediction from a few months ago turn out?

Answer: The same way that the predictions from leaflovers ALWAYS turn out.

By the way, where ARE all the leaflovers? Seems like they've vanished. In hiding....AGAIN?

The Canadians WILL NOT make the playoffs this season unless some major changes come soon by that AHL gm named Bergervin.

Another typically inaccurate prediction - the hockey threads on MERB are filled with these classics of humor.

if things persist the way they've gone, it's going to be a dogfight between the Habs, the Leafs and your Wings, in the stretch leading to the end of the season.

Another prediction, this one from the third member of MERB's Team Leaf.

At least THIS particular leaflover was wise enough to TEMPER his prediction by beginning with the words "if things persist the way they've gone..."

Just wait til the meltdown when the Deadthings miss the playoffs and the Leafs make it! You aint seen nothing yet my friend lol.

Here's a post from a mere 2 and a half weeks ago. As usual it looks as if the prediction will be completely backwards. Of course when the leafs stage their epic collapse - as they INVARIABLY do - their fairweather fainthearted fans race AWAY from the hockey threads...just like "captain" dion races AWAY from any and all face-to-face physical altercations. (In fairness to "captain" dion, he is not at ALL afraid to dangerously hit opponents into the boards from BEHIND when they can't see him, can't defend themselves, and above all can't give him the beating of his life.)

Bad hit on Paul Ranger tonight, hope he is ok but when a stretcher is brought out it is never a good sign. Prayers for PR.

Happy to see that there was no real damage and Ranger returned :thumb: (Bernier however might be a little less happy.)

Another gutless and hopeless loss by the leafs. At home and supposedly in desperation mode to make the playoffs - against a team already eliminated from playoff contention, a team 22nd in the standings - the pathetic leafs were outplayed and outshot by their usual huge margin (41-25 tonight) to lose 4-2.

Leaf problems? Glad you asked: The GM, the coach, the "captain" (minus 2 tonight), the top scorer, the 7-year $36+ million man who used to play for Jersey, a lack of skill, a lack of pride, a lack of guts, a 47 YEAR tradition of NOTHING but absolute, dismal FAILURE, a burning desire to be the first hockey players on the GOLF COURSE as they are year after year after year, etc.

I think the Habs will do fine...but the Leafs will start at THEIR REGULAR time.

Golf course owners in Toronto were VERY surprised last year at their unexpected drop in income...although it DID rebound after a mere 7 playoff games.

THIS year, even though the end of the season is still months away, Toronto's golf course owners are ALREADY smiling and planning where to spend all that cash!

After last season's fluke post-season appearance , things are back to normal with golf season in Toronto starting the day after the regular season ends ...

I hadn't realized the Leafs had lost so many games due to suspension. Now it better explains their current slump. I totally agree.

That was back in December. No Leafs have been suspended during Toronto's current free fall - so what is your excuse now ?

Detroit is a very bad team....extremely over-achieving. The only guy with courage got knocked out for a couple of months last night. Abdelkader. His great-grandfather served under Hitler. Anyways, he'll be out for a while and that useless european team will miss his presence dearly!

That's not the only Detroit player: My sources tell me DeKeyser's great, great grandfather fought for Germany in WWI - apparently he was a fan of 'da Kaiser' !!!

JC always being his sarcastic, negative self again!

Crawford is injured, so he couldn't play. On top of that, he's not that highly regarded around the NHL. He's lucky to be on a packed team and would be a 2nd string goalie on most of the other teams around the league. Heck, he won't even get a sniff for Team Canada, who'll prefer the likes of Price, Luongo and Fleury ahead of this bum!

It's Chicago's fault for not upgrading their goaltending during the off-season, like many other teams did. Now their 2nd stringer will be some bum named Lebarbara, whom they acquired from the lowly Edmonton Oilers. He's also terrible!

That's what happens when you give all your cap money to superstars like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, Patrick Sharpe and Brent Seabrook. You have nothing left for goaltending!

p.s. Name the only team to lose twice to the Florida Panthers this season.

Yes, and the Leafs are such wise spenders when handing out long term contracts ...

Even though Kessel's numbers have been nothing short of great over the past few years (he's even got better numbers than Gino Malkin), he hasn't fit in well in Toronto & you can't give a one-dimensional player like him 'franchise-player' type money. He doesn't bring anything else to the table other than scoring goals: he's got zero presence in the dressing room, he can't check his own shadow, he's basically invisible among his teammates, he hates talking to the media (too shy), and ever since his arrival in Toronto, he's constantly been put under a microscope and it'll never stop as long as Tyler Seguin & Doug Hamilton continue starring for the Boston Bruins.

Maybe Nonis should have listened to you ...

Would Kessel agree to wave his NMC if traded to a U.S. based team ? He would probably want his buddy Bozak to be part of any deal. As for Clarkson and Phaneuf, their contracts are not movable.

The Leafs losing to boston was a learning experience for a very young team and they have come out strong this season and i think alot of that is because of that defeat. Good things come from bad things many times, and so be it. Nobody gave them a chance to even make a series out of it and they did. They are better because of that game 7 and that is how it should be.

Yep, the EPIC COLLAPSE against Boston in 2012-2013 REALLY helped the leafs in 2013-2014.
