I'd like to compliment man77777 and Gentle on the great restraint they have shown in response to the unacceptable insults they have received from some leaflovers.
I guess when you're a fan of the biggest laughingstock in professional sports the only way you can get pleasure is by demeaning teams and fans with greater class and success. Rooting for a team that has done nothing but fail for 46 years and that had the biggest and most gutless game 7 collapse in the history of the playoffs will always leave you searching for some way, no matter how illogical or antisocial, to vent your half-century of frustration.
And bravo to SK for pointing out the delicious irony of iggy - of all people - complaining about someone's grammar.
Then again, iggy - of all people - takes delight in referring to the great Detroit Red Wings as "dead things". Let's compare:
Detroit: 22 consecutive years in the playoffs, Toronto: ONE year in almost a decade in the playoffs.
Detroit: 4 Cups in the past decade and a half. Toronto: ZERO Cups in the last 46 years. In fact ZERO trips to the finals in the last 46 years.
Detroit Roster (Current): 4 Lady Byng winners (all by Datsyuk), 3 Selke winners (all by Datsyuk), 1 Conn Smythe winner (Zetterberg). (We won't even count recent, but not current, Detroit achievements such as the astounding SEVEN Norris wins by the recently retired Nick Lidstrom). Toronto Roster (current): No winners of anything. In fact, can anyone remember the last time a leaf won the Hart, Ross, Norris, Lady Byng, Selke, etc.? Apart from Doug Gilmour's lone Selke victory TWO DECADES AGO and Dave Keon's Conn Smythe win 46 years ago, any other major individual awards for a leaf player were long before most of us were born.
Current playoffs: Detroit: up 2 games to one in the second round, against the BEST TEAM in the NHL this past season. Toronto: KNOCKED OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND after a humiliating loss against the B's in game 7.
Detroit: Best GM in the NHL and Best coach in the NHL, as voted on NHL.COM. Toronto: Most overrated player in the NHL ("captain" Dion Phaneuf) as voted by the NHL players themselves.
Yet iggy takes delight in calling the Wings "dead things". ZERO logic, but LOTS of irony!
