Three excellent posts in a row by Gentle: 397, 398, 399. You can call it a natural hat trick.

The appreciation of Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe is great, but the FUNNIEST one is the fact that the utterly hopeless toronto maple leafs are in Wikipedia for their historical game 7 CHOKE. Canada's National Embarrassment, the biggest laughingstock in all of professional sports, the shame of a nation...choose your favorite name for these EPIC LOSERS...or just sit back and enjoy the laughs that these perpetual doormats have provided every season since 1967. A truly sad sack franchise favored only by people who never knew any better than to drink Burke's koolaid.

Dion Phaneuf? Ha ha ha.

Also don't forget that even Wikipedia has updated it's section on choking in the NHL.

Here it is : " The term choking has also been used in the NHL to define a collapse when one team appears to have the game in hand. In the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs the Toronto Maple Leafs were up 4 goals to 1 against the Boston Bruins with 11 minutes left to play in Game 7. They gave up 3 goals, including two with Boston's net empty to send the game into overtime. The Boston Bruins completed the comeback when Patrice Bergeron scored at 6:05 to win the series, eliminating the Toronto Maple Leafs from post season play."

Yup ! it's under 'Choke Sport'.

Crying? why there aint no crying in a free for all, I have never laughed so hard in a sports thread as i have this one, and at the expense of the 3 amigos otherwise known as a manX7's, a gentle 1, and a "cairo" Bwahahahahahah..... Keep entertaining us boyzzzz, you have no idea just how much you all do, i guess it helps you forget just how bad the "scabs" were once they made the playoffs and were manhandled like little boys among men, oops! maybe you can trade Price for some toughness and a bag of used pucks. ha ha

I agree with everything Iggy said in this thread. However, they are not the 3 Amigos, Iggy. They are: The Three Stooges!!!!!

And indeed, i do agree that scabs fans are indeed a special, oversensitive bunch! But we still love them, right? Imagine how boring life would be without all these scabitants fanatics to entertain us! :D

I'm a Wings fan...but I have respect for Habs, Devils, Pens, Bruins, Hawks,....in fact I have respect for EVERY team except the stinkin', laughable, downright pathetic sad sack LOSER LEAFS.

Apart from their COMEDIC value, they are good for squat...but I guess every sport needs a DOORMAT for all the other teams to wipe their dirty boots on.

And the "Nuck's put another negative notch in the DEAD THINGS PLAYOFF CHANCES! Well Done Max Lapierre! :)

Iggy was having the time of his life a month ago, as this quote shows.

I guess he proved for about the billionth time that he can't predict the future.

What's happened in that month?

Well the Wings - of course - made the playoffs (for "only" - ha ha - the 22nd year in a row).

The "'Nuck's" (as our grammar critic - HA HA HA! - calls them) made the playoffs, as expected, but got blown out in a 4-0 asskicking, with the Sedin twins being as invisible as a pair of Phil Kessels. (What IS it about these invisible forwards that Burkie likes so much - or should I say liked, since Burkie was shown the door after his 4 seasons of complete and utter failure in hogtown?).

The classless and incompetent leafs - to EVERYONE'S surprise actually made the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade (mainly because the shortened season ended before they could stage their usual collapse) and were then humiliated in game 7 by staging the BIGGEST, MOST GUTLESS COLLAPSE in the history of the playoffs and returning to their USUAL post-season area: namely the golf course. (Losers!)

And the "Dead Things" (as our hockey-challenged grammar critic - HA HA HA! - calls them) are now up 3-1 after playing 4 games in the second round. Oh, by the way, they're up 3-1 against the BEST TEAM of the regular season.

It's positively amazing that our two leafloving buddies spend SO much time watching hockey, reading about hockey, writing about hockey, downright OBSESSING about hockey - and STILL know NOTHING about hockey! No wonder maple leaf ownership has put crap on the ice for 46 years : leaf fans can't even tell the difference between a good hockey team and an EMBARRASSMENT like the leafs, so toronto's ownership doesn't even bother.

Always having the time of my life, not just a month ago bro. :D Where were you again a month ago? Oh thats right, Scared that the dead things might not make the playoffs and banned again for like the 10th time because you take stuff too seriously and go over the edge. I just hope for your sake that when the dead things lose out and dont win the cup, you can handle it, i worry about you ... chin up little buddy :thumb:

Iggy was having the time of his life a month ago, as this quote shows.

Hey BOYZ,

It must be pretty obvious by now Iggy.t can't do an assessment of a hockey team to save his life. From all those years saying the Leafs would make the playoffs, calling the Red Wings the childish name 'dead things", and telling every hockey fan from GoHabsGo to JC they know nothing about hockey and only Iggy.t does , this Wings-Hawks series has proven Iggy just enjoys being contrary with anyone who isn't a Leafs fan...ie...a pest. He may know all about a hockey arena and all about the players right down to the cup size of all the Leafs...but he clearly has no idea how to put the information together to predict how a team will perform. The DETROIT RED WINGS and their manhandling of the best regular season team in all of professional hockey have made Iggy and his constant insults of the team look very foolish. It's bad enough Iggy.t doesn't respect the hockey fans here, but when he refuses to be honest about the teams it shows he doesn't respect the game.

Meanwhile the Wings have taken apart the best team in the NHL for three straight games and currently look like a top threat in the playoffs.

Good luck Wings,

Merlot

The key game will probably be the 6th at home for the RW.. They need this one... Chicago is @ 6/1 to win the series..

Stalking again merlie? LOL! I see your frustrations from not wanting to look like a hypocrite and S**T Disturb over there in the Baseball thread (yea right, you live for this stuff, lol) has spilt over here so you can have peace of mind and get your SD'ing fill for the day, haha...... i still say you should make a baseball free for all thread then you do not have to come here in a hockey thread to do it, a sport btw which even tho you are a good bandwagon fan, you still have a long ways to go to even be seen as a credible hockey fan.

As far as what i know or do not, you still dont get what this thread is all about do you? sadly.... Now back to you thinking the bRuins should be able to go further than the ISLANDERS! Bwhahahahahaahahaha................... oh you crack me up and are the gift that keeps on giving :thumb:

Not at all, i just pointed out the TRUTH, you cry and whine about it in baseball, yet come here to do the same things.... hypocrisy my friend... like i said, start a baseball FFA and have at it, then you look more legit, just trying to help you is all :eyebrows:

PS Trust me, i dont get angry because of stuff said on a internet board, and if you do then they are your issues, not mine. And yup, you can read, i started the thread for fun and for others to playfully have at it and thats what we do, all in good fun..... well, most of us look at it that way.... ;)

GO ISLANDERS! Bwhahahahahaahahahahaahahah..... (have you figured out yet that the bRuins are playing that other NY team?) hihi I say Isles in 7! (maybe next year tho)

Hook...Line...Sinker: and the same angry retort you give to me, GHG, JC and all who don't agree with you. The coward's excuseThe WINGS are making you look clueless.

As for being a CS, who started this thread? OMG. It's YOU!!! :lol;

Btw, why using a Pretorian as a symbol when your name is the Senators : The total opposite in the Roman society ?

Maybe should I ask to Chris Neal, he probably has a phylosophical and historical explanation...

Another beauty from Wikipedia on the Sens !

In 1992 the club floundered badly and would eventually tie with the San Jose Sharks for the worst record in the league, winning only 10 games with 70 losses and 4 ties for 24 points, three points better than the NHL record for futility. The Senators had aimed low and considered the 1992–93 season a small success, as Firestone had set a goal for the season of not setting a new NHL record for fewest points in a season.

Aimed low ? now where did I read that also ?
Oh yeah the other team in Ontario.

What an embarrassment to the city of Detroit have the Red Wings become!

How long will the overrated Mike Babcock be able to hang onto his job? Is GM Ken Holland's job in jeopardy? Will old man Illitch finally sell the team to an owner who will invest in it in order to bring success once again to this struggling franchise? Will this struggling franchise lead to Mr. Hockey finally kicking the bucket? I'm certain the state of this once-great franchise must be difficult on the old guy.....

You're entitled to your opinions, misguided though they may be.
To answer your questions: Babcock will "be able to hang on to his job" for as long as he wants. (His name isn't Ron Wilson!)
No, the job of Mr. Holland, the second greatest GM in the history of the sport, is not in jeopardy. (His name isn't Brian Burke.)
No, Mr. Illitch, the most respected owner in professional sports, does not plan to sell the franchise. (He is in it for success and love of the game, unlike the various uncaring owners the leafs have had for the last half century as they have laughed at their fans while counting the profits from their grossly overpriced tickets.)
Finally, your post is VERY disrespectful towards the great Gordie Howe - even a leaf fan should exhibit more class than that.

And yet if somehow he were to become a Mtl Canadian before the start of next season, all of the "entitled" habs fans (spot on SK, 100%) would love the guy, mainly because the addition of a Chara to your soft team makes you much better, without a doubt. It is not his fault he is a giant of a man and when he hits, 2 things are gonna happen, a) you get out of the way or b) dont complain about it if you dont, right Max P?

This feels weird agreeing with Boston fans, but hey, when your right........

PS, if that Doberman saw Chara coming at him he would turn and run as fast as he could and that tail would be between his legs, or his stub would be a twitching.
Chara's name has nothing to do in a hockey thread. If I put 4 skates on my Doberman's legs, he would do the same job..
