Couldn't help but notice that iggy has changed his User Title to "It's Hockey Time," and I just want to offer him my sympathy. I know it's the hardest time of the year for him, the days grow short, the nights grower so very much longer.

As it's been said among fans of the Chicago Cubs, "Well, anybody can have a bad century."

We're with you, iggy, to support you through another season of pain and agony. Bro.

Luckily for ig, his pain almost always ends when the REGULAR season does - through their steadfast refusal to enter the playoffs (except about once per decade) his beloved leafs almost never extend ig's suffering. Sure they suck...but at least they're respectful of ig's feelings.

True, but with his Yankees' miserable season ending even early than usual, his hockey suffering will start earlier than usual.

In Praise of Phil Kessel

Good luck Phil! Only one more year in that hellhole of hockey and then free agency looms. Best wishes for a great career after the 2013-2014 season!

I wonder where Phil will end up next season? I suspect a U.S. based team - The NYR or Flyers will throw a lot of money at him. Can't blame Phil for wanting out of a loser hockey market - look at how Leaf fans treat him ...

GHG the BEST part of that poster is the reference to Wilson and Burke - who were both CANNED after years and years of nothing but pure, unadulterated failure. You'd think that dumping those two would have pumped up the hopeless leafs...but that pathetic franchise is STILL the laughingstock of all professional sports and sadly is STILL Canada's National Embarrassment.

Evidence: Even after tossing Wilson and Burke, the sad sack losers in Hogtown STILL brought shame to the NHL by perpetrating the most EPIC COLLAPSE in the entire history of Stanley Cup game sevens with their cowardly fold job against the Bruins.

46 YEARS is soon to become 47! But Phil will be smiling because his sentence will be over!

Hey Rumples, the leafs DO have something: the MEMORY of a Stanley Cup...46 YEARS AGO.

Since then, of course, it's been nothing but complete and utter failure for Canada's National Embarrassment, so the Koolaid drinkers have to get their thrills from an occasional victory in a meaningless pre-season game.

Meanwhile the owners of the leafs keep counting their money and thanking the Lord that leaf fans (the most gullible and ill-informed of all sports fans) are more than happy to pay the highest prices in the NHL to see the NHL's crappiest franchise.

No shit. It's actually a fabulous business model. Knowing that their fans will fill the joint no matter how lousy the product they put on the ice, they purposefully suck, knowing that their fans will drink liter after liter of overpriced beer in order to kill the pain which typically is too much to bear by the first half of the second period.

Maybe Burke was a genius, if not at developing a winning team, certainly at forging a bulging bottom line.

Ok, with the best enforcer in the entire NHL, Colton Orr, getting his first practice in today, it is only a matter of time until he is laying the beat down on the other 29 teams in the league (make that 28 as the detroit dead things dont have anyone with balls enuf to challenge the big O) and protecting his teammates. So just wondering whats the over/under that Colton Knocks Out George Parros on Oct 1 and the odds he wins the fight if not by tko? Anyone?

I wanted the Vegas odds! lol.........actually that was not Colton's best fight but he held his own... I am sure he remembers that one and will be more than ready for Parros Oct 1, that is if Parros is even playing yet, he could still be out of action until a week or 2 after the season starts.

Colton was a wonderful Ranger

I was sad to see him go
I was also sad to see Brandon prust go

But they got better deals elsewhere

Anyhow...

I know this is a Mtl vs Toronto thing

But George is a gamer

perhaps not what he used to be

But certainly a class act for sure

Best Regards

The season hasn't even started and the leafs are already showing their usual gutless fragility...and we're not even just talking about the usual suspects like the perennially injured Joffrey Lupul but also about the new goaltending savior (ha ha ha ha ha....) Jonathan Bernier who was put out of action by his equipment.

This team is such a joke that I'd almost feel sorry for leaf fans if they were not 1) the most gullible in all of sports, 2) totally in denial of facts and reality, 3) completely classless, and 4) remarkably ignorant about hockey. Since they ARE all of the above, however, it's a true pleasure to see them suffering through 46 YEARS (soon to be 47) of complete and utter failure.

bwhahahahaha......... thanks for playing! ;)

Once again, you have astonished the world with a brilliant response that shows your originality, creativity, knowledge of hockey, maturity, and excellent writing skills. NOT!!!!

In fairness, I strongly believe that this subliterate juvenilia is the best that a person of your obviously severely limited intellect can come up with, so - considering your gross limitations - your courage in constantly exposing your many flaws is to be admired. You exhibit this courage not only in the hockey threads but also in baseball and football (where Rumples regularly nails you to the wall, to the great amusement of all readers).

Just to keep this on a HOCKEY level: Please TRY to offer proof that your beloved Colton Orr is worthy of playing in the NHL for ANY reason apart from being a goon.
