Meanwhile the dead things are sporting out an iffy defense and a one punch in howard, not a 1-2 punch...who's that backup that now that he plays for detroit is so great? lol, homer.

The Red Wing D is just fine thanks - even though they recently lost the second greatest Dman of all time to retirement. But hey the leafs also lost a dman. Gee, I wonder which was the bigger loss: Lidstrom or Komi?

As for net, I've always said that it might have been a mistake to get the Monstrosity. But then again, even though I'm a hockey expert, I'll admit that I'm not as much of an expert as the great Kenny Holland, the second best GM of all time, so if Mr. Holland thought it was the right thing to do then it MUST have been the right thing to do. I've said it before: Toronto turned the Monster into the Monstrosity, just as it has ruined so many other players, but if anyone can turn him back into the Monster it's Mike Babcock. Meanwhile I'd rather have ONE Jimmy Howard than a dozen Reimers and Berniers put together.

Gotta feel sorry for the leafs. They once owned someone who WOULD have been good - a guy named Rask. How'd THAT move work out for you?

Look behind you.
I dont think the Oilers will make the playoffs this year, but within 2-3 season they should. They need defense and goaltending, it is not easy to make w/o those 2 things.

If I was the manager I would have traded one of my top picks ( and we have 5 ) for a goalie, Hall would have been bait for a good one. Without a goalie your team is crap no matter what.
Look what Kipper did for the Flames when he was hot and the Flames were a C grade team at best without him. We need a Messier type up front, 2 solid defense men and a top 7 goalie.

Exactly. Also look at Roy with the Habs in 86 and 93 and Quick with the Kings in 2012.

all you have is the same things to say over and over pretaining to Burkes so called failure... lol... he built this team that made the playoffs and is considered by many to be on the rise, and the farm that has some gems on the way soon.... if thats failure in your mind then clearly you should never be hired to run a company or manage others.

You DO realize (don't you?) that I am not the one who decided to fire Burke - it was leaf ownership...so according to you, leaf ownership "should never be hired to run a company or manage others" ?

Is this how the Joe Louis Arena looks today??

I heard it was a dump from someone who was there last year, but really??

On another note, just heard on a radio call-in show earlier that the Red Wings are rumoured to be for sale right now.

But really. Who in his right mind would want to buy that team?? The team itself ain't bad, but the city is a crime-infested dump!

The major problem would be that nobody could be the equal of Mike Illitch. It's an impossible challenge to fill the shoes of the best owner the NHL has ever seen.

Mike who? The "pizza pizza" guy? Good thing he has Little Caesars to grow his wealth because rumor has it the dead things dont even fill the building any longer every night. And from the way they are looking this season, likely the only time they will is when the Leafs are at that dump called Joey Louis Arena, and of course half will be in blue and white, just like in Montreal, Ottawa and most buildings around the NHL.

Is it Oct 1 yet? :D

ROFL!!!!!!! you are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy bub!

Who would dare to argue with such a truly insightful and creative riposte? Your logic is irrefutable and your word selection flawless.

Shakespeare lived from 1564 to 1616 but fortunately we have your remarkable eloquence to take the place of the long-departed literary genius. Although, as a community, we stand united in awe of the brilliance you regularly demonstrate on MERB, the post I have quoted here is surely your shining moment of triumph, and one that will live for as long as mankind treasures the written word.

As a bonus, your knowledge of hockey is on a par with your literary and philosophical skills, not to mention your excellent spelling and flawless grammar.

All that...and you are an expert on disco and cowboy culture as well. You, sir, are truly a Renaissance man! The fact that the team you cherish has done nothing for 46 YEARS is SURELY not your fault!

Who can think of hockey when they're so astounded by the remarkable wisdom and linguistic precision of each and every one of your 7000+ posts of unfettered eloquence?

If the rumors are true, the Calgary Flames are about to shoot themselves in the foot (as usual) but this time it's a BIGTIME wound.

Hi SK - Maybe the Bruins will just grab the next decade or so of Burkie's draft picks, as they've done in the past.

Congrats to BURKE! Glad to see him get another shot, it was only a matter of time and nice to see him back in a hockey mad market.

You are not serious SK, you still think the Leafs did not make out great in that deal? Kessel is a top 5 right winger, only getting better every season and a borderline superstar, meanwhile knight will at best be a third liner in the nhl if he ever makes it, hamilton has a ways to go to be a legitimate top 4 dman and Serguin is well, shipped off to Dallas, that tells you something right there about the superstar he was supposed to be and what boston thinks about that scenario.

The trade is more than fair for the Leafs with many in the know saying the Leafs actually came out on top now that Kessel has took his all around game to the next level under Carlyle.

Thank You Boston!

(ps, i would expect that from a fake dead things fan and a true scabs fan like cowboy J, but not you) :D:D:D

Do the Flames have anyone on their roster that Chiarelli and B's can rape Burkie for? Lol.

And I would expect nothing less than juvenile name-calling and repetitive plagiarized BS from a know-nothing "hockey fan" so desperately in denial that he continues to defend 46 YEARS of complete and utter failure by the wretched leafs and 4 years of total and abject failure (by his own admission!) by his beloved savior Brian Burke. It appears that constant exposure to disco music and cowboy photos severely damages the brain cells.

By the way, I'm no Jay Feaster fan, but POOR JAY FEASTER (and, needless to say, POOR FLAMES FANS).

Thank You Boston!

Yes, that's exactly what Bruin fans are saying in regards to the TWO CUP FINALS by their team. (I hope the Boston fans are also polite enough to thank the leafs for all their HELP in delivering the Stanley Cup - and I know that Rask gives thanks to Toronto every day for freeing him from that hockey hellhole and sending him to the comparative Paradise of Boston). Congrats to Tuuka, congrats to Boston, and THANK YOU leafs!
