There you go again Reverdy, confusing our friend in detroit with FACTS once more! Leave him alone will ya, dont you know they only work when he wants them to work?

Btw i was watching the excellent end to the Jets/things game so i did not click on your HEADLINE link to the game a cpl posts above, but went back and decided to, hahahaha great link to the LINK! :thumb:

And yes indeed, GLG!
Thanks for bringing this up: this means that Reimer is currently 3rd for % saved, Bernier is 10th, in comparison to Howard, who is 18th.

Go Leafs go!

Wow! I feel another cairo 20 post rant in 25 minutes a coming tonight! I thought Halloween was last week  SCARY!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGSu2E4LN-I

PS.... helpful hint to save you a lot of time..... when you write a half a page of nonsense that you have written 3000 times before, i seriously dont even read it lol....just trying to help ya fella.

Aww, I had such high hopes for you after you actually composed an ENTIRE POST ABOUT HOCKEY! You did GREAT...so I'm really sad to see that you've relapsed. Keep up your courage ig: maybe one day you'll be able to write MORE than one post about HOCKEY in a HOCKEY thread. Good luck to you on that!

By the way, I know you have difficulty reading more than a few words at a time so it's no problem if you ignore my posts. (In fact, I really, REALLY wish you'd ignore ALL my posts and stop obsessing about me.) The posts are really written more for my fans than for you - so many of the MERB members have complimented me on the way I school you each and every time that I'd feel guilty if I stopped amusing them. I'm sorry that YOU have to be my personal punching bag, but HEY - if you strated IGNORING my posts, I would no longer HAVE a punching bag. THAT'S how you can really teach me a lesson : ignore me! (PLEASE!)

And now, here's your latest HOCKEY lesson, combined with a free math lesson. You gleefully wrote; "Jimmy Howards Save % on the season Before tonights 4 goals was .915". Guess what, o math and hockey wizard: If Jimmy let in 4 goals on 47 shots, it means he stopped 43 shots...and 43 of 47 is......you guessed it (well, actually, YOU probably didn't, but please excuse the figure of speech)...drum roll.....915. If I were a really nice guy, I'd also correct your grammar for you (starting with the use of the apostrophe), but I'm not THAT nice, so you only get the hockey and math lessons. Sorry.

Awwwww shucks, Thanks, i guess :noidea: See, you are capable of a compliment, i appreciate it little buddy!

In other news, the Leafs lost Dave Bolland for some time after his surgery this past weekend and word is we are looking to try JVR at centre between Lupul and Kessel...that could be a great and dynamic line after playing together for awhile. JVR played some centre in his past, most recently in college.
you actually composed an ENTIRE POST ABOUT HOCKEY! You did GREAT.

I am at loss for words. How the mighty have fallen...

Looks like nobody did much tonight for the Wings:
They're playing next the Stars, then Tampa, then the Jets again: 2 out of these 3 games should easily be within their reach. In comparison, the Leafs are facing the Devils, Bruins, and the Wild: a somewhat tougher proposition these days.

As usual, an excellent post from you Reverdy. It's a pleasure to read HOCKEY talk from an INTELLIGENT Leaf fan. You have proven to me that, contrary to what the hockey threads here have previously indicated, there IS such a thing as an intelligent Leaf fan who can present sound HOCKEY arguments and solid facts in a literate format. You're helping to push aside the image of braindead, illiterate, childish Leaf fans with no game.

You are 100% correct in observing "how the mighty have fallen" (at least on Monday night), and you are also 100% correct in observing that the Wings rate to do much better than the Leafs in the next few games.

Nice doing business with you!

Unfortunately for the leafs, Lupul is about as durable as tissue paper, so your little dream probably wouldn't last long.

Actually the guy a cpl seasons ago was told he might likely never play hockey again, and is now a ppg player, not bad. Heart and soul type guy to, i will take that anyday and glad he plays in the centre of the hockey universe and not a dump like dead-troit city. :thumb:

If Toronto is indeed the centre of the hockey universe, is it not kind of strange that they made the playoffs only once in the last decade? Is it not kind of strange that they have not made it to the Finals in 46 YEARS? Is it not strange that they've only had about 5 good players since their Cup win WAY back in 67? I'm being generous by saying 5, but it's your reward for actually talking about HOCKEY in a few posts. The 5: Sittler, MacDonald, Sundin, uh oh, it's getting difficult now. Two more, two more...hmm...Okay, we'll give it a BIG stretch and add in the highly overrated Borje Salming...and there MUST have been a fifth somewhere. (I'm not counting people like Andreychuk, Gilmour, Murphy, or any of the others who stopped off in Hogtown for a cup of coffee or two between their stints with other teams.

Simple Reverdy, he cant get away with his "bring it to the gutter mentality" there so he does it here, pretty cut and dry. But thats ok, he is fun to humor back and forth with here, its all good and life goes by fast so it is what it is :)

PS He is a compliment machine tonight tho, much appreciated from myself as well JoeC :thumb:

Thanks for the compliments, and I reciprocate. But this leaves me puzzled: if this is the FREE FOR ALL thread, then what are we going to do when we eventually move the discussion back to the more "civilized" Official Thread?

Discuss over tea and crumpets?

You know, someone once wrote about a pot and a kettle.....

By the way, this free-for-all thread is YOUR creation. That's food for thought...at least for people who are CAPABLE of thought.

But don't take it too hard: You've shown A LOT of improvement, since a couple of your posts have actually - for the first time ever - been about HOCKEY. Then again, I guess this thread wouldn't be the place where you'd want to discuss how the Yankees and Red Sox did this season. Must be tough being a fan of losers in TWO sports.

Ya know cairo, i swear you spend more time talking about me than you do about hockey in this thread.....

Like i said before tho, it's all good and harmless in my view, you give, you take back and vice versa, tis the way it is and the way it is supposed to be.

Now give me ^5 and a GLG! brother C :thumb:

Osgood can't be called a backup: he played far too many games as a starter

I'm confused by this

Don't all goaltenders start and backup at some time in their careers

In baseball, Dennis Eckersley for example was a starter, before he became one of the greatest closers in history

Best Regards

Tukka Rask, another career backup who finally got his chance a year ago & nearly all by himself took the Bruins to the Stanley Cup final.

Just a few years ago, the Flyers came within a goal of winning the Stanley Cup. Their goalie: Michael Leighton.

In 1971, a kid by the name of Ken Dryden came out of nowhere to lead the Habs to the Stanley Cup.

My point is, a hot goalie is a hot goalie, backup or not. Rarely does a goalie not start his career as a backup. Even Bernie Parent & Patrick Roy were once backups. Heck, the great Jacques Plante & Terry Sawchuk were also backups several times in their magnificient careers.

The Leafs have a solid goaltending duo with Reimer & Bernier, and i hope they hold on to them.

The Ford brothers.

Doug is an alleged drug dealer and Rob is admitted crack head yet strangely they remain only the SECOND and THIRD biggest embarrassments to the city of Toronto.

Mayor Rob Ford made the customary unbelievable apology for his crack use. Instead, he should have said that the Leafs's epic collapse, after they finally, due to the shortened season, were able to sneak into the playoffs after ten years, drove him to drugs. All Torontonians would have understood.

GWG? Game winning goal?

Well, that is something the Dead Things Failed to do once again tonight in deadtroit. That goaltending duo you have just saw their GAA and Save% get worse tonight! Bernier/Reimer looks pretty good right about now to Things fans
I'll give you 5, but you made a spelling mistake. The CORRECT spelling is GWG.

Did you see that goal by Jamie Behn when he literally carried the puck from one end to the other & treated the entire Red Wings team like they were pile-ons??? Holy crap!!!!!!!!

What a comeback by the Stars!!

However, it was against the sinking Red Wings, not one of the league's strongest teams of course. But a win's a win.

p.s. Will the Red Wings make the playoffs???

Ya know, if Steve Why? picks carey pRice and not Jonathan Bernier, he deserves to lose the Gold medal and be fired from all of Hockey forever!.... Price is a great talent but it comes with a 10 cent head in big games aka pressure situations and Bernier is just raw pedigree/talent that you rarely see in Canadian born 'tenders these days. Bernier, Luongo (Price/Crawford) as injury backups only, for Team Canada in Sochi 2014.

GWG? Game winning goal?

Yes, that's one possible meaning.

As all knowledgeable hockey fans know, the great Gordie Howe holds the record for GWG's (although Jagr is now very close). As always, I'm happy to try to teach you about the sport.
