I noticed that you did NOT make a prediction on the leafs game. Wait - let me check and see how the LEAFS did. Golly gee, they LOST - AT HOME.

Funny stuff once again !

Notice how the bandwagons just shut up when their Maple Laugh lose now ?

Specially after 'trying' to make fun of the best Hockey team since 2 decades now ?

Can't wait to see the Wings in town on Jan 24th.
And I will be standing for them in respect during the anthem for giving us great hockey ever since with Bowman picking up where Habs left it.

Yup, if you look up the definition of "Bandwagon", his picture is right there next to the other 2 Scab Homers, Pee U

Meanwhile,

"Me Thinks" the dead things actually won a game tonight because we had a "mini 20/30" sighting from cairo tonight, haha.. And a big and hearty Congrats to ME on my winning pick! Mr.T, i owe it all to you bro, you taught me the finer points of all things "wagering 101" :thumb: You Da Man!

Funny seeing our little buddy Gentle showing up only when the Leafs lose or when his crappy team wins.

As we would all expect, NO RESPONSE to the HOCKEY facts from Thursday night from our Koolaid drinkers.

It's understandable though: they CANNOT deny that the Wings won; they CANNOT deny that the leafs lost...AT HOME; they CANNOT deny that "Tie Game" Bernier was "BAD GAME" Bernier with his wretched .857 against Nashville...AT HOME; they CANNOT deny that the Stick was a non-factor and had ZERO points (as he so often does); they CANNOT deny that Dion Phaneuf had ZERO hits; they CANNOT deny that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are both ahead of Kessel in the scoring race; they CANNOT deny that their "young". "good" (sic and ha ha) team is tied with the "old" (sic) "dead things" (sic); they CANNOT deny that the Wings have been in the playoffs for an amazing 23 consecutive seasons: they CANNOT deny that the Wings are the team with the most Cups in the past decade and a half; they CANNOT deny that the leafs have not even made it to the finals (!) in 46 YEARS; they CANNOT deny that the leafs made the playoffs only once in the past decade (and in a joke of a shortened season): they CANNOT deny that the leafs last had an individual trophy winner in 1993, TWENTY YEARS AGO, when Little Dougie Gilmour won the Selke; they CANNOT deny that the leafs blew it big time when they traded Tuukka Rask for (ha ha ha) Andrew Freakin' Raycroft (!!!!); they CANNOT deny that Dion Phaneuf was TWICE voted Most Overrated Player in the Entire League...by the players themselves (!!!); they CANNOT deny ANY of those HOCKEY FACTS....and so, boys and girls, they do what they ALWAYS do: they post juvenile, meaningless, incorrect, irrelevant crap as their hopeless attempt at a rebuttal.

Well, to be fair, at least iggy did something new in a hockey thread by praising his very good friend Joe T. to the skies. This is very creative of iggy, since he had to TRANSFER that thought process all the way from the football thread, which must have provided A LOT of deep thinking and mental fatigue for the poor little guy. Great work, ig!

Congratulations to the "worst city in the US" Red Wings on finally winning a game at home last night. As for the Leafs, a few posts prevented the game from being tighter than it was, and it was one of the rare games where JB wasn't on top of his game. But there were some positives, such as Peter Holland's first goal as a Leaf (plus a crossbar) and signs his acquisition might be a steal for the Leafs. Another positive is that the Leafs will use this game as a building block into making themselves a better team and not take any of the lesser teams lightly.

I was surprised to see JB back between the pipes, but no doubt James Reimer will be the starting goalie in their next game.

Back to the "worst city in the US" Red Wings, they won and will likely win 1 out of 3 games from now on. They might make the playoffs, but may not. My guess is that they'll be battling it out with Montreal for the final playoff spots. The Dead Things sure picked the right year to change conferences. If they were still in the west, they wouldn't have a chance at making the playoffs. Tough times are ahead for the once successful franchise. Anyone remember the Dead Things of the late 60's and entire 70's?? It wasn't pretty, folks!

Funny on how 'Rob'n Doug' here kept on saying (last year) how it would be harder for Detroit in the eastern this year and now turn their coat once again.

Really don't know sh!t about hockey !
Don't they ?

...Already we can see a glimpse of one of their next lame excuse (because top 8 is now in the western) to explain how sh!ty their pathetic team will finish this year's hockey season.

Where were the Wings' superstars two nights ago? Comatose? Getting ready for bed in their old-age home? LOL.

Or maybe they were looking WAY DOWN the scoring list trying to find Phil Kessel's name.

You know, it's funny: you Koolaid drinkers keep saying that Pav and Henk are old, yet they are both not only FAR BETTER, COMPLETE PLAYERS than Phil will ever be, but they are also both scoring more points than Poor Phil, who - given his age - SHOULD be in the prime of his career and totally kicking the ass of "old folks". The fact that even IN the supposed prime of his career he can't cut the mustard shows clearly that he's nothing special, just a HIGHLY overpaid, one-dimensional player not much better than any of the other journeymen in the league.

Typical leaf fan: whining, crying, complaining, searching...CONSTANTLY searching for excuses.

I guess the maple losers are the only team that hits posts?

Hard to blame you: 1. You've had 46 YEARS of nothing but complete and utter failure. It's almost BIBLICAL the suffering you poor stiffs have had to endure. 2. There is NO relief in sight, as your team of crybabies continues to suck and to show a complete lack of guts. (Look no further than Kessel and Phaneuf hiding in the shadows whenever John Scott is in the neighborhood. Or, look at that little weasel Kadri with his filthy, cowardly hits. Let's hope his next suspension is a nice LONG one.) 3. Fans usually resemble their teams, so Wing fans are intelligent and classy like Yzerman, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom; Boston fans are tough and determined like Chara, Neely and Espo; leaf fans are whiners in the grand tradition of Kessel, Domi (king of the sucker punch) and Tucker.

You DO realize, don't you, that the Wings and the leafs are tied?

You DO realize, don't you, that the leafs have ALWAYS been in the east and STILL made the playoffs only ONCE in the last decade?

You DO realize, don't you, that the Wings - in the WEST - made the playoffs for 23 consecutive seasons?

You DO realize, don't you, that if the Wings ever DID miss the playoffs they would have to do so for almost a decade until they matched the recent leaf record of NON-playoff appearances?

You DO realize, don't you, that the leafs will have to make the playoffs for the next 22 consecutive seasons to match what the Wings have ALREADY done going INTO this season?

You DO realize, don't you, that you and your little follower have been spouting the same cult-like crap for as long as you've been on MERB and that you have NEVER YET been right?

Maybe, just MAYBE, you might start re-thinking some of this. How about saving the bragging and the laughable, unsuccessful attempts at being macho until a time (if EVER!) when your stinking franchise actually DOES something?

Wow! Am i the only person here who's noticing that our buddy JC is having a major meltdown???

Relax, buddy. Hockey is just a game in which whatever we say has zero to do with the team's outcome.

Don't ruin your mental health just because of an internet board.

The good doctor recommends that you take some time off & relax. Sure, it won't be as fun without you for a while, but at least we'll know that your absence will be for a good cause & you'll come back sane again.

I mean it, bro. :thumb:

Glad to oblige: He said that you and ig don't know shit about hockey.

He made a clever analogy, comparing the two of you to the Ford brothers, those other hogtown "heroes".

His evidence was the TOTALLY ACCURATE FACT that little ig was braying for the past year about how tough it would be for the Wings when they came to the east, mainly because little ig - who proves over and over and over again that he knows SQUAT about hockey - was totally IGNorant of the FACT that the west has been far superior to the east for at least 7 or 8 years. Now that that FACT has been explained to the Koolaid drinkers, the Koolaid drinkers are shamefacedly and LIMPLY trying to save face by totally contradicting what they previously said.

NO meltdown Doctor. Just continuing on my selfless quest of exposing the rampant ignorance of leaf fans while at the same time entertaining the vast majority of MERB sports fans and even - admittedly only once in a blue moon, because it's just TOO difficult - educating ig about hockey.

Great article on Grabo by Stephen Whyno of The Canadian Press

Some quotes:

"Mikhail Grabovski will tell you that he's happy now. That wasn't the case late during his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs."

"Grabovski...considered the buyout a positive move for his career."

"Grabovski has 7 goals and 11 assists going into the Capitals game Friday night. He had 9 goals and 7 assists during last year's lockout-shortened 48 game season with the Leafs. His ice time isn't substantially different either..."

Grabo on the Caps style: " It's more offensive smart(er) hockey than we play(ed) in Toronto."

Not surprising, considering that the leafs - and especially their excuse for a coach - MISUSED and WASTED Grabo's talents and basically threw away a player who is far better than 95% of their anemic roster.

Quite possibly about as difficult as educating him about baseball.

Don't worry, you are the not the only one.

Of course not: birds of a feather flock together...and there are three birds here who like leaf-flavored Koolaid. The only one missing at the moment is your little buddy with the spelling problem.

And the Wings up until this year were one of the major contributors to this statistical fact. Now, with them in the Eastern Conference, we should be expecting somewhat of a shift in the balance of things, shouldn't we?

So you're saying that the Wings have been a great team for a long time and that they ALWAYS have great expectations? I agree completely. Well said.
