Toronto Maple Leafs: Disgrace to a Sport, and Shame of a Nation
Any hockey fan knows that the wretched toronto maple leafs have experienced nothing but abject failure for 46 YEARS and counting.
The team has been uncompetitive on the ice and a total humiliation in other areas (maple leaf gardens sex scandals, anyone?).
It is a GIVEN that the team has long lacked the skills to succeed - not only in hockey talent but also in ownership, management and coaching. It's all been a dire mess (EXCEPT for the bottom line, as the owners have always laughed at the gullible fans who continue to pay the highest prices in the league for this inferior display).
A third of the way into the current season, the leafs are as UNDERWHELMING as always but are also poster boys for cowardice, poor ethics, ridiculously unsportsmanlike behavior, and borderline criminal actions.
We won't even consider all the things they've gotten AWAY with; we'll just look at what they've been CAUGHT doing:
Phil Kessel: 3 game suspension (pre-season) for ILLEGALLY using his stick as a weapon (slashing, spearing)
David "Multi-year, Multimillion Dollar, Two Goal" Clarkson: 10 games for flagrantly violating a key NHL rule by leaving the bench to brawl
Carter Ashton: 2 games for a Phaneuf-like cheap shot attempt to injure
Nazem Kadri: 3 games for goalie interference and a vicious elbow to a defenceless, fallen Backstrom
Dion Phaneuf: 2 games for a gutless attempt to injure from behind
Note that ALL of these were dangerous, violent efforts to injure...but they were also ALL COWARDLY. None of this occurred in a fair one-on-one situation. They ALL involved either dangerous and illegal hits from behind on a defenceless player, or use of a weapon against a player using ONLY his fists, or joining a fray to OUTNUMBER the opponents.
Yet whenever a FAIR confrontation is offered, these same leafs cower in fear. Witness Phaneuf's terror of John Scott, Milan Lucic, Zdeno Chara, and even P.K. Subban. Witness Kessel's cringing at the sight of John Scott and his laughable losses even when a NON-fighter confronts him. Witness Kadri's demolition by a non-fighter any time he can't skate away fast enough or cry to the refs loudly enough.
Yes folks, it is VERY easy to see why the leafs are universally known as Canada's National Embarrassment. Bravo to Shanny for continuing to suspend these clowns - at least it's a beginning, and the less we see of losers like Dion Phaneuf the better it will be for the great sport of hockey.

Panthers beat Red Wings twice in a week!!!!
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Brad Boyes scored the winning goal in a shootout to lift the Florida Panthers over the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Aleksander Barkov also scored in the tiebreaker for Florida, which has won three of four overall and two in a row against the Red Wings.
Tomas Tatar scored for Detroit in the shootout but Tim Thomas stopped shots by Daniel Alfredsson and Gustav Nyquist.
Nick Bjugstad and Sean Bergenheim had goals in regulation for Florida. Thomas made 24 saves.
Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi scored for the Red Wings. Jimmy Howard made 25 saves and Johan Franzen had two assists.
Detroit lost for the sixth time this season when leading after two periods.
Florida scored twice in the third to tie the game.
Bjugstad evened it at 2 when he put the puck over Howard's shoulder with 5:22 left in the third. The Panthers cut it to 2-1 on a goal by Bergenheim exactly 5 minutes into the period. Dmitry Kulikov bounced a shot from the point that Bergenheim touched on the way to the net.

Well, JC, you can say what you want about the Leafs, but I think there are players on the Red Wings roster who, secretly, must be fans of the Leafs. Why else would they keep insisting on losing against sub-par teams like Florida, and keep our Leafs in the race, in the standings?!
For example, Jimmy Howard, who again tonight turned in another stellar performance! :thumb:
1. Yes, losing to a sub-par team like Florida is disappointing, even if the loss was partially due to a goal that was incorrectly disallowed.
2. At least we didn't lose 2 of 3 to the LAST PLACE TEAM in the entire league, however, and at least we didn't lose 6-0 like the leafs did to LAST PLACE BUFFALO.
3. Howard wasn't horrible in this loss but there's no denying that iggy's idol is not having a good year. It figures that someone iggy loves would be a weak point.
4. Wings are STILL 3 points ahead of the wretched leafs.
5. Even with 2 losses to Florida, Wings are 6-3-1 in the last 10, while the wretched leafs are a laughable 3-5-2.
6. Nice try Rev...but like ALL leaf fans you LOSE again.
Yes, it's hard to believe.
Unfortunately, for LEAF FANS - the most long-suffering Koolaid drinkers on the planet - it was not at all surprising when their gutless cowards dropped 2 of 3 against the last-place Sabres, including one in which they were HUMILIATED 6-0 against the team that is by far the worst in the league (at least standings-wise).
JC is NEVER in a sour mood. The only thing that would EVER put me in a sour mood is if the stinkin' leafs had a good season. As we all know, that has not happened in 46 YEARS and will probably never happen again - certainly not in your lifetime, my lifetime, or our children's lifetime. (It's sure as HELL not happening this year!)
My life is so great in every way that I am never unhappy...but if I ever DID feel unhappy I'd just start thinking about how much the leafs ROT and I'd immediately feel great again!
Tuesday, the Wings lost, but hey, no big deal. Why, you ask? Okay, I'll tell you just SOME of the reasons:
1. Without a referee's blown call, the Wings would have had another goal and would have won in regulation, so at least it's a moral victory.
2. We lost, but we still got a point.
3. Howard took the loss - AGAIN - and Howard is one of iggy's poster boys...so iggy is probably WAY more upset than any Wings fans!
4. Howard losing AGAIN is one more reason for Babcock to start playing the Monster (8-1-1 so far) more often, which can only HELP the Wings. (PS: THANK YOU, TORONTO).
5. The most skilled hockey player in the world returned and had a goal, an assist, and was the second star of the game.
6. Even with the 2 losses to the Panthers, the Wings are still 3 points ahead of the woeful, execrable maple losers.
7. Wings : 6-3-1 in last 10. leafs: 3-5-2 in last 10. (Pause for LONG burst of laughter!)
8. Zetterberg: 30 points in 28 games (for math-challenged iggy, that translates to more than a point a game). Datsyuk: 25 points in 25 games (for math-challenged iggy, that translates to a point a game). Kessel: 29 points in 31 games (for math-challenged iggy, that translates to LESS than a point a game).
9. Stevie Y announced that he will play in the upcoming alumni game (along with countless other former Detroit superstars).
10. I saved the BEST for last: That untalented , cowardly thug who plays PYLON for the maple losers was suspended for two games - LOVE IT!
So, even with the loss, Tuesday was a typically GREAT day in the charmed life of JC! Man, I am BLESSED! (And don't think for a minute that you poor souls who root for the leafs don't have my sympathy. You DO - I really feel sorry for you guys, who have nothing but FAILURE to show for your passionate feelings about the worst franchise in all of professional sports. No hard feelings: I sincerely PITY the three of you. Best wishes!)

By the way, you seem as confused about hockey as you are about your sexual identity, because if the "dead things" (not really witty, by the way, and not really accurate, and not really original - but hey, I know that's the BEST you can do) aren't good....DUH (as usual, I've included ONE word that you won't need explained to you)...they are clearly BETTER than your stinkin' leafs in every way. Then again, that's only if you consider the FACTS...and since you can't even tell men from women, I guess the FACTS are a little too difficult for you to comprehend.

Easy there Doc, our favorite little punching bag is likely having a good day today since Steve Why agreed in the last 24 hours to play in the Leafs and Dead Things Alumni Game at the Winter Classic in a few weeks. Any idea if Tie Domi will be playing? Would be great to see Tie go all out gangster mode on some of the "things" for old times sake :lol:
Iggy, i believe Tie Domi will indeed be playing in the alumni game. Once the lineup is official, it wouldn't surprise me to see a few 'things' drop out at the last minute for 'personal' reasons.
Well Doc, i do believe there will be 2 alum games because so many former Leafs and Dead Things want to be a part of this so the scared "things" will be able to play in the game that Tie is not in. How great would it be though if Tie just snapped and started a fight? haha .... or just laid a monster hit on Steve Why or any dead thing around his age? Yesterday i was at the game and i can see that the next Stanley cup in Mlt will be at least 10 years from now,we don't have a team to win the cup and we will to wait a very long time.
I see the 2 leaf lovebirds had a great time with their back-and-forth repartee, although as usual the illiterate one did nothing other than spout his repetitive , boring, juvenile BS and kiss the ass of the literate one. It's just like old times when they used to sit on the couch together and post back and forth all night long while they watched their Battle of the Blades tapes over and over and over. Now they're both older but certainly no wiser.
Meanwhile, I don't see either of them posting about the LA-toronto game, possibly because toronto lost AGAIN.

Joffrey Lupul might be the "glass man" of the NHL but at least he's honest. He said, "To put it bluntly, we're not playing very well." Yeah, he IS the master of the OBVIOUS, but at least it means he doesn't drink the same Koolaid as iggy and his favorite cowboy Doc Holliday.
