...it really comes down to team chemistry and a great training staff.
Hello Kirkjonas,
CHEMISTRY should never be underestimated. In 2012 the Red Sox had maybe their worst manager ever who threw players under the bus like a scythe through wheat. Their were personal divisions between him and the team, between the players, between management, players, and the front office. Injuries took a big toll, but attitudes and the will to perform, partly due the absence of chemistry, helped create a disastrous season...the worse in nearly 50 years.
Then the team was revamped largely through the right role players who would build good chemistry. The result was one of the most miraculous gift of a season turnarounds in MLB history and a World Series Championship. Players bonded quickly, attitudes changed dramatically, there was much better leadership, everyone it seemed put out for the team. There were other key elements too like staying healthy, great comebacks, some players exceeding previous performance levels. But the right chemistry created a team that would always fight for each other and fight to win.
If any one element was more responsible for turning the Red Sox around from division worst in 2012 to 2013 champions...it was chemistry.
What ever happens this year will be appreciated, but still a bit anti-climatic. The Gift of 2013 was so PERFECT!
Good luck,
Merlot
