Lights out for CC!

Another "LIGHTS OUT" performance by CC, 4 innings of shutout ball which dropped his ERA to a miniscule 1.29, pretty impressive, I think that it is safe to say that he is back, I'm sure that even rumples would agree.

Hey Joe...How's CC's and the Yanks ERA after his amazing start tonight? Hahaha. I'm sure Rumps would agree that it is fucken putrid!! Hahaha.

Ah yes Merlot, the disaster that was Bobby V. Speaking as a Blue jays fan and division competitor that guy was a just a gift that kept on giving lol. But yeah clearly that team chemistry and bonding was at a level where the guys wanted to play for each other. That improves all aspects of the game cause your happy to play, more motivated to rehab or come back from injury, embodied perfectly by all the beards the foil to their most hated rival Yankees. I feel like the team that wins each year has that spirit, but it could just be its fun to play while your winning.

Speaking of winning nice to see my Jays righting the ship, knock on wood but that line up has some pop and dangerous hitters, hope the AL east sleeps on the Jays but Bautista, Lind, Edwin, Melky and even Lawrie can definetly make some noise.

As a matter of interest Bobby V is now working on NY Mets telecasts with Bobby Ojeda. I saw the two covering the Mets-Nats postgame yesterday.

How about Drew Hutchison who was absolutely Lights Out tonight!!!!, looks like the Blue Jays(my second favorite team) have found a replacement for last years total bust Josh Johnson, also looks like Alex knew what he had all along and that's why he didn't make any foolish deals during the off season, I think that the Jays will surprise a lot of people this year.

A little bit of a suckfest by the Yankees tonight in Houston but give this rotation 3 turns and we will see how things look. CC had 17 straight scoreless coming into tonight which was not going to last, but his defense was crappy and then he made some poor pitches, but he was okay after the 1st inning. The second inning was mostly very bad defense. I think this team is going to be pretty good. I don't see too many better staffs out there.

Yup, I could see them competing with the Yanks for top spot in the AL East or at the worst, fighting for a WC spot with the Rays and Orioles. Tough night for Sabathia in the first 2 innings, then he settled down and looked pretty good. McCann will get him straightened out by getting CC to get the ball down.

I think that the Jays will surprise a lot of people this year.

A little bit of a suckfest by the Yankees tonight in Houston...

OMG,

"SUCKFEST" to say the least.

All the bragging, boasting, look at us we're awesome  and the trophy is ours baloney and the worst team in the MLB took a dump on "lights out" Sabathia and that vaunted powerhouse lineup like the Astros were just toying with the Yankees. HOUSTON of all teams.

Sabathia ERA 9.00

Wow,

Merlot

Wow,

Well, Merlot, your beloved Red Sox are 0-1 also after the season opener against the Baltimore Orioles. A bit more competitive game than the Yankees played, but a reminder the season has 161 games to go.

Anyhow, I am thinking the Baltimore Orioles are going to be a little better with Nelson Cruz in their lineup. He's 33, a 9 year veteran. I really see a lot of parity in the AL East. I also think that the Yankees will need to play their young players who did well in spring training to produce runs. The older players will become more productive with more hitting from the rest of the team.

And how about that standing ovation for Ryan Braun? Why did fans feel it necessary to reward him that way?

Daydreamer, I am with you on Ryan Braun. He is a piece of shit, and pieces of shit should be treated as such. What bothers me is that there are players who play by the rules and they have to watch that turd being cheered.

Beav, I don't think Braun is a piece of shit. I do think he is a shameless liar and he is a cheater. And I think he's part of the larger problem of how baseball condoned the use of PED's via turning a blind eye, i.e. Bonds, McGuire, Sosa. Now, baseball wants to be tough. Up until this year, even a good percentage of players in the minors used PED's. Baseball should have always been steadfast against PED's. The bad part of Braun is he appealed his original suspension claiming it to be an error. Obviously, it was not. And he never apologized. I agree with you the Brewer fans should never have cheered him. Hopefully, IF A-rod returns, and I hope he does not, the NY fans will boo him.

It will interesting to see how good Braun is. He won't hit 30 plus HR's. If he goes below 20 HR's, we will know how much PED's added to his success. From 2007 to 2012, he has hit between 25 and 41 HR. And he has a lifetime average of .312.

Braun is a total piece of shit for doing what he did. He should have taken his punishment like a man like Melky Cabrera did. He did not man up, instead he threw others under the bus. He should be shit on eternally. He also won an MVP award which probably should have gone to Matt Kemp. I don't see him giving it back. Why is he keeping it?

By the ways what do you guys think of YES clubhouse reporter Meredith Marakovits? I don't think she is as hot as the Red Sox clubhouse reporter that was fired for fucking Will Middlebrooks, but she is not bad (nicer hair than face, but I would not kick her out of bed and I doubt Special K would, even if she had a Yankees medallion hanging around her neck). She actually seems like a quality reporter a la Kim Jones who was an excellent reporter and legit Yankees fan.

Smuler, I agree Braun's behavior has been extremely poor to say the least. The article you linked did not say Braun outed any other players. It said his team (agent?) dug up dirt against the sample taker and Braun spread some malicious lies about the guy. Braun really got his suspension reversed on a technicality that sample taker did not mail the sample right away. The lab found that the sample was not compromised in any way. The most interesting sentence in that article was the last one:

Braun was sued this week by a former friend named Ralph Sasson, who alleges Braun's agent, Nez Balelo, paid him $5,000 to dig up information on Laurenzi. Sasson also said Braun used PEDs throughout his career at the University of Miami."

That means, if his ex-friend's claim is true, Braun has used PED's since college. It will be most interesting to see his stats at the end of the season.

daydreamer41,

That story has been out there for a long time, long before Sasson ever filed suit. He previously told assorted media that Braun used PEDs since his days at the U of Miami.

And Barry Bonds should relinquish his HR title back to Henry Aaron, don't you think? And the single season record back to Babe Ruth?

Sorry, Beav, but that's the first time I read it. I remember the original story of the sample, but not much of the details.
