Mike Stanley sounds right.

My first guess was Johnny Damon, but guess what? Damon hit more than 70 HR's with the Yankees (77), but he didn't hit more than 70 with the Red Sox. Damon hit 53 HR with the Red Sox.

And as surprising, Damon played for the Yankees and Red Sox the same amount of years each - 4.

I bet since Damon was with the Red Sox in 2004, the first World Series win for Boston in 86 years, fans probably think Damon was with the Red Sox longer.

However, Damon is probably the only player living who has won World Series championships with both the Yankees (2009) and Red Sox. Babe Ruth won championships with both teams many years ago.

And Damon's baserunning was instrumental in winning the 2009 World Series for the Yankees, plus he had a key homer that enabled the Red Sox to squeak past the Yankees in 2004.

As a matter of interest Damon now lives in Tampa and shows up or is an invited guest at a lot of Rays social events although from what I heard, he does not work for the Rays. I saw some photos a friend took with Damon at one of these events and he looks like he is in better shape now than when he was playing.

Another trivia fact about Johnny Damon I did not know. He is actually bi-racial. His mother is Thai and his father, a career military Staff Sargent, is Croatian and Irish. He played for the Thailand National Baseball team in the World Baseball Classic.

Damon was a solidly good baseball player. I don't know if his numbers are good enough to make the Hall of Fame, but he was one of those type of players who made key plays in key situations as you pointed out.

Joe,

Just do as any sane person does and skim over them because whether it is a one footer, a m2f or a record breaking m3-footer like earlier, they all prove one thing anyways ;)

Good game tonight between the Yanks and rouge hose. Typical close game and one bad inning by CC was the difference. He looked great besides that and remember he is in a learning process of how to pitch differently than previous years because age has caught up with his velocity. If he can learn to pitch like Pettitte did in his last 5 years or so of his career then CC will be very good again. One inning per game in his 1st three starts are haunting him thus far but here's to him figuring it out soon. :thumb:

Merlot is on the warpath so I will do my part to try to prevent Merlot's ridiculously long replies

John Farrell said it was a non issue, Buchholz said it was a non issue, even Papi said it was a non issue, the only person this is a issue to is SK, on to the next story.

Joe...again, read Merlot's extremely informative and accurate post ;)

Baseball Fans,

HE'S A DIRTY ROTTEN CHEATER WHO SHOULD BE BANNED FROM BASEBALL PERMANENTLY!!! - Iggy and Joe.t

Of course this is what they said last year when Clay Buchholz was accused for the same unproven offense. They were all over this issue for a long time demanding a ban due to a video allegedly showing the presence of a banned substance even though the substance had not been identified and there was some question about it being a banned substance at all. Where is this call with the same 100% condemning certainty by these same BOYZ today. I don't even have to read any of their posts to know it doesn't exist because neither has any HONOR when the shoe is on the other foot for exactly the same circumstances where pinstripes are involved. No principles, no scruples, no honor.

Girardi didn't make Buchholz an issue last year yet you cried continuously about it. You want to dump the issue now because Joe.t is acting like the definition of hypocrite.

This is how I talk about a player regardless of the uniform. Honestly. I didn't downgrade him, knock him, or portray him in any other way than what he is...pinstripes or not.

This is how you talk about an issue, solely because of the uniform. You may not have gone as far as the no-honor twins, but you made the same basic claims. Now you talk about reactions based on retaliation. How revealing of your thought process: retaliation, blame, tit for tat, threats and cover-up are what you focus on.

The entire baseball world is talking today about how this kind of thing goes on everywhere and how at certain levels there's some kind of de facto gentlemen's agreement giving it a pass most of the time except when it gets so damn obvious it becomes an embarrassment to the game itself. Yet you've got to puff yourself up with total garbage about Farrell fearing what Girardi might do. Farrell would NOT give a damn how Girardi feels on any issue if he felt it was right to call it out. Both of them are simply treating both issues as they see it. I personally don't think any manager should let this go on. They should call it out no matter who the accused team is regarding the rules, which should not be a joke, regardless of gentlemen's agreements. If it's against the rules take care of it or change the rules. But these men choose to treat each other with the same criteria. Yet you Yankees fans can't ever own up to anything without this shady subverting of the issue.

So you approve of cheating through de facto blackmail. Really.

You sure cried for some time over a one-game incident. Talk about insecurity, you're all either defensive, attacking or ignoring the FACTS.

Thanks for pointing out the the Boston Red Sox aren't making the same cheating crisis out of this incident all three of you guys hammered at for days last year. I don't support cheating by anyone, but Girardi and Farrell are using the same standard of play and reaction to an ALLEGED cheating incident this year and last. But the facts are the photos show the very high probability this is an illegal substance.

Anyone calling this wet glistening black mass dirt based on the photo is a fanboy sellout. If it is sweat why is that black spot the only apparently sweating area on his hand or entire arm.

041114pineda.jpg

Oh right Beav, it only rained (didn't at all) on one small spot on his hand? Dirt only sticks on that spot? Dirt shines like that on a dry night while the rest of his sweaty arm stays perfectly dry?

Right Beav, Pineda is the perfect evolution of the pitcher. He only "SWEATS  on one tiny spot of his body, right under the baseball. :D

Like last year we can't be sure what it is. Like last year no one chose to look at it despite some information AT HAND for both managers. Like last year the photos implicate the pitcher. Unlike last year the same accusers that wanted Buchholz hung out to dry are giving their player a total pass... and a lot of very shady excuses.

The embarrassment has been the shady excuses and complete turnaround of principles ONLY due to the uniform by you three Yankees fans.

YOU GUYS MAKE ME LAUGH,

Joe doesn't have all weekend to read any of Merlot's posts, and neither do you, K.

How in the world would you know if it was accurate??#???$???@ I seriously doubt anything Merlot writes is accurate or informative, but I don't have enough time to read and determine, and neither do you K.

Light-hitting Yankees clobber lighter-hitting Red Sox

In this one, it's John Lackie that got shelacked!!!! Looks like all Brian McCann needed was to face John Lackie to get out of his slump! McCann had two homeruns today! Carlos Beltran also homered, along with Alfonso Soriano & Kelly Johnson hitting the long ball!!

p.s. Why wasn't the safe call on Farrell's replay challenge in the bottom of the 8th not reversed? It was obvious the baserunner was tagged out as he stepped off second base. Even the YES network announcers were baffled that the call was allowed to stand. This replay thing sucks!!

BOYZ!

After just 1 homerun in their first 6 games the Yanks have hit 11 in their last 6.. I think the make up of this new look Yankees team is gonna be just fine if they can remain relatively healthy all season.

On another note, what the hell is a Burke Badenhop

Doc,

Light hitting Yankees? Huh? As of this date they are 3rd in hitting in all of MLB. Meanwhile the Jays are 28th.

Hahahaha. Less than 2 weeks in and the Fanboy excitement is already overwhelming. Why don't we check back in 2 months and see where they're at?

Learn to read, my posts are not 3 footers so no excuses. :D I clearly said "as of this date" in response to Doc's assumption that the Yanks were a light hitting club "as of this date" Panties in a wad already after 12 games Sk? Must be the redsox lost a few games to the Empire this weekend or something

I think you may be surprised with where they are at.

John Lackie that got shelacked!!!!

Lackey's announced position in the lineup was not P (pitcher) but DB (designated bitch). He was the Yankees' designated bitch and he played that position quite well, yielding a career high 4 homers and propelling McCann out of a slump.

The Yankees offense is obviously better than last year and their pitching from top to bottom is also a lot better. Tonight it is Nova vs. Doubront. Doc if I put a revolver to your head and asked you to bet your next 2 week's salary on one guy or the other with Joe T's bookie, who is the money going down on? We all know the answer so you do not need to reply.

May a Supernova be seen above the skies of the Bronx tonight.

I chose to answer. I've never been very big on Doubront. On the other hand, i also have never been that big on Nova. If Doubront weren't pitching tonight, i would have picked the Red Sox. But since it's Doubront pitching, i have to go with the Yankees.

p.s. On another note, the new season of Mad Men starts tonight for those who didn't already know this. So with the Amazing Race & then Game of Thrones playing, i doubt i'll be able to watch the game. Good luck to both teams!

The day I'm taking educational tips from you is the day the world has ended Iggy. Lol. I was merely pointing out the usual, ridiculous, over inflation of NY Fanboy excitement after 12 games. Check back in 2 months and see where they are. I know it's been a tough few weeks since the demise of that shit bag team in Hogtown but grab a glove and get in this game, son.

As for the reigning World Series Champion Boston Red Sox losing in NY this weekend, it's the first series of a long season and the real fun will be watching the demise of the AAA lineup of NYY, this is going to be priceless this season.

OYZ,

It would be the same any year. But this year there is the added HUMILIATION that the Red Sox went from last to WORLD CHAMPS and so EB and his pals need to cover the harshness of their embarrassment by ever more desperately squeezing anything they can out of any game. Good for them...THEY NEED IT!

Learn to read, my posts are not 3 footers so no excuses.

It's  how two guys keep publishing their lack of education and attention span as if they are illiterate children. Oh no, I can't read 2fters. Their worst nightmare must be a a set of doors: "IN"..."OUT". BWAH!

But it did save them from these headlines:

red-sox.jpg

For me, I'm so satisfied with my team being WORLD CHAMPIONS that I'm just going to grab a truckload of popcorn and chuckle as Yankees fans try to cover their pain with their manically delusional boasting PUFFERY. We've got the trophy, they've got hot air. :thumb:

Cheers,

Merlot

My apologies, i forget speck knows more about baseball than the actual people who get paid to report on it day in day out 365 days a year, my bad

If a team with a lineup like the Yankees have on this date with the likes of Gardner, Jeter, Ellsbury (remember him, LOL) McCann, Soriano, Beltran and seasoned vets that are in the lineup more for defense than offense like Johnson and Roberts and a healthy Texiera due back next weekend and lets not forget a future HOF in Ichiro giving the older guys a rest and providing a bat that still has plenty of life left in it is considered AAA then me thinks you are even more delusional than you seem lately. Wanna get started on the pitching also? Ok we will save that for a rainy day since you can not win that argument either lol.

As far as your little "title" in 2013, remember who was the main reason you won? dave ortiz and WS Title = * as in 2004* 2007 * and 2013*

Now play nice and dont let the blood boil over, it is just a game my friend. I am off on this 80 degree goegeous day to wash the sportscar and go cruising until game time.

GO YANKEES!

BOYZ,

A cheap accusation by one who needs excuses and ignores all the tainted players the Yankees had in the 90s and since. Do you have enough attention to spell "A-Rod" or remember why he isn't playing for your team right now King Hypocritus. 1996*, 1998*, 1999*, 2000*, 2009*** and many more.

Besides, the Cardinals finally got wise and kept walking Ortiz genius, and anyone who was paying attention knows the Sox were not knocking the cover off the ball, except at very opportune times, which made UEHARA's ability to hold the lead the big reason why the Red Sox won the Series or even got there.

Cheers bud,

Jays bats come to life in 11-3 rout of Orioles

BALTIMORE -- Mark Buehrle allowed one run over seven innings to win his third straight start, and the Toronto Blue Jays hit three home runs and had a season-high 17 hits in an 11-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

Jose Bautista hit a three-run drive and Colby Rasmus and Brett Lawrie had solo shots to help Toronto win the decisive matchup of the three-game series.

Rasmus, Edwin Encarnacion and Adam Lind each collected three hits for the Blue Jays, who enjoyed their highest scoring game of the year at the expense of Ubaldo Jimenez (0-3) and three Baltimore relievers.

Buehrle (3-0) gave up five hits, walked none and struck out two. The left-hander has allowed only two runs in 21 innings, an 0.86 ERA.
