You don't remember Fred Taylor from the Pats and Jags? LOL....Yes, I had THAT Taylor on my mind and confused with Jackson, LOL.

I still think LeSean's best days are behind him but we'll see.

Oh, okay. Yeah, i now realize why Fred Jackson could have been mistaken for Fred Taylor. I made a similar mistake also. But Jackson was the oldest running back in the league last season and my guess is that he's got at most one more good season in him and i figure he'll likely retire once the next season is over and done with. He's become somewhat injury prone over the past couple of seasons and i suppose that's to be expected for a man his age in the type of sport he plays.

I'm also under the impression that McCoy's best seasons are behind him. But it doesn't mean he cannot still be very productive. He's had great seasons in the past & i'd be surprised if he could repeat them considering he'll be 27 come next season. But Kiko Alonzo may never again play to the level he once did in his only season of pro football. He did undergo major knee surgery which caused him to miss the entire season and the future is unknown. I suppose that it may have been worth the gamble as much as any under those circumstances.

Buffalo needed a reliable quality running back due to the upcoming changes to its offence and trading for one of the top running backs in the game was too good to resist.

Ndamukong Suh to sign with Miami Dolphins

He's expected to sign a $114 million contract, with $60 million being in guaranteed money. It's estimated that he'll be paid in the area of $17 million per season.

BOYZZZ!

...I think that this move makes the Bills the prohibitive favorites to win the AFC East next year, I love this move.

This is a perfect demonstration of why your name is THE CURSE OF. Hey Joe, loved your prediction the Patriots would not make the playoffs in 2014. BWAHAHA! :D

The Ndamukong Suh signing for $114 million and $60 million guaranteed SMELLS instantly of the Albert Haynesworth disaster. A self-absorbed egocentrist with an impulsive nose for senseless trouble...ie...bad attitude combined with too much money. I predict Suh will look at the money feel free to put himself above the team eventually becoming uncontrollable.

Suh's deal reminds me so much of these failed contracts:

http://www.complex.com/sports/2013/09/worst-nfl-contracts-all-time/michael-vick

What do teams get out of these contracts most times anyway? Not Super Bowls. The Patriots tried it twice recently. One (Gronkowski) a huge success. One (Hernandez) a total disaster. The Patriots have gone to 6 Super Bowls and won 4 largely by identifying value players, NOT groveling for overrated high risk flavor of the season players.

Vince Wilfork, well, the Patriots have a habit of moving on once they feel the time has come. Fans love Vince. He's a gentleman, he's a team guy, he gives his best. We're happy to have had him for 11 seasons, and very happy he was in New England to be part of 5 Super Bowls, winning 3 of them. He could go to the Hall of Fame if his contributions are properly recognized, though what he was so good at doesn't bring glorious stats. Not to forget, the $8 million+ cap saving could be very useful for signing McCourty and Revis.

Cheers,

Merlot

The Eagles raped the Bills on this deal. A declining RB when they already have Spiller & Taylor for an up and coming game changing linebacker. Lol. Nice job Chip Kelly!

HAHA!!, good one K, a rb that finished third in the NFL in rushing is hardly declining and now with the news that Suh is signing with Miami me thinks that the K man is worried, the Bills just signed McCoy to a big dollar 5 year contract yesterday and with the way Rex runs the ball I'm expecting a minimum of 1,500 yds, 10 tds from McCoy, keep in mind one year he lead the league with 20 TD's, all of a sudden the future does not look bright for New England.

Did it ever? We will never know because of all the cheating, and that is the stuff we know about, imagine all the rest that never got leaked out.
all of a sudden the future does not look bright for New England.

JETS GO GET REVIS!

http://nypost.com/2015/03/09/the-waiting-is-over-jets-go-get-darrelle-revis/

Deceptive Title. The Post and Jets fans are pining like cry babies for his return.

PATRIOTS SIGN MCCOURTY

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-...houldnt-restrict-patriots-with-darrelle-revis

Things move fast in the National Football League. So fast, in fact, that the news of safety Devin McCourty's five-year contract with the New England Patriots was still just minutes old when questions started coming rapid fire about its potential trickle-down effect on another possible deal.

The question: How might McCourty's extension affect the team's ability to strike a deal with cornerback Darrelle Revis?

Our answer: It shouldn't affect it much, if at all.

Without knowing the specifics of McCourty's five-year, $47.5 million contract that includes $28.5 million in total guarantees, a reasonable assumption is that it includes lower salary-cap charges in the initial years of the pact. That's the way long-term contracts usually work.

The same would likely be true of any multi-year deal that Revis signs.

So cap space shouldn't be a factor, nor should the "ready cash" required to close a deal, in part because of quarterback Tom Brady's contract restructure from December.

Thus, the Patriots shouldn't be restricted in their ability to re-sign Revis, assuming the financial numbers don't explode to levels that would cripple them in other areas.

McCourty, in an interview on Comcast SportsNet on Sunday night, said he hopes that Revis returns to New England this season.

"I told him the same thing I feel like he would tell me: 'I want him back here, I want to play with him, he's a great teammate and the best corner in the game.' But I also know it's a business and I would never hit him up and try to pressure him into doing something," McCourty said on the program. "After going through this the last two months, to say it's a business is kind of the easiest thing. This is crazy. He understands even more than me. I already know he's going to do what's best for him."

If the Patriots are willing to pay McCourty with a large deal it could mean something about how far they might go for Revis. McCourty is good, but of course having Revis and Browner there makes everyone better.

Moving on,

Hello jsn

No, it was a misread due to a deceptive title by the New York Post. Check the link I added. If it does happen Joe.t will wet his pants with joy. What else can a Raiders fan live for. ;)

DE Jerry Hughes signs 5-year deal to remain in Buffalo

Great news for the Bills! One of their best players last season just re-signed with the team & hopefully will once again be a fixture on the team's defence this upcoming season!

In other news, rumours are circulating that the Niners are shopping QB Colin Kapernick. Of course, they've denied the rumours, but in the NFL, most of the rumours nearly always wind up being true.

I'm still not happy at the Bills' QB situation. I'd be ecstatic if Kapernick somehow wound up with the Bills!

It's shaping out to be a pretty good off season for the Bills, first Ryan then McCoy and now Hughes, the only missing piece in the puzzle is Manual, if he comes into his own next year watch out, no doubt the Patriots have added a few pages to their cheat sheets to counter attack if you get my drift.

BOYZZZ!!!

REVIS TO SIGN WITH JETS.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...k-darrelle-revis-new-england-patriots-release

Two years after an ugly divorce, the New York Jets and Darrelle Revis are together again with a deal that will include guaranteed money in excess of $40 million, league sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter, and will make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.

The Jets pulled off one of the biggest moves of the still-young offseason, stealing the All-Pro corner away from the New England Patriots on Tuesday night, his agents announced.

The blockbuster deal came five hours after Revis became a free agent. The Patriots declined to exercise a $20 million option for 2015, but they had retained exclusive negotiating rights until 4 p.m. ET.

It was a stunning blow to the Patriots, who lost their most accomplished defensive player -- a vital cog in their Super Bowl championship.

The choice does return the Patriots to being a questionable Super Bowl contender rather than a favorite but there's was no way to pay Revis now that he has shown more money means more to him instead of more Super Bowls. As I said yesterday about Suh, it's insane to give that much money out to a single defensive player at any position. Defense was the Jets strength anyway so it doesn't make a lot of sense to make a cornerback your highest paid player no matter how much cap space you have, cap space that will disappear fast and become a big problem with the need to fill so many holes on their offense. The Patriots knew you can't over-value any player and decided to let him walk if he would rather go for the money with a bad organization instead of taking good money with a proven winner. Overall the Jets remain HALF a good team with the loss of a ton of money better spent elsewhere.

As one Jets fans tweeted to WEEI today: "if we get Revis this will be the biggest highlight for Jets fans in many years, that's how pathetic we are."

Merlot,

...and now Joe will...see earlier comment. ;)

The Dolphins just continue to work on their soft spots: http://miami.cbslocal.com/2015/03/12/report-dolphins-working-on-trade-for-pro-bowler-evan-mathis/

Would be interesting to see Wilfork on the line with Suh, Wake & Vernon. Vernon is quite underrated. Dollar considerations aside, Miami's Defensive line is starting to look like the Vikings back in the 70's, absolutely brutal.

Time to send Wallace packing. Still not sold on Tannehill, but if Evan Mathis shores up the line we'll soon know the truth.

Let's be clear that the real weak spot on the Dolphins is at head coach, but I'm convinced the front office has their shit together now.

Dallas easily has the best O-line in their division and in the top 3 of all of the NFL, maybe #1 and with that said there is a history with Adrian P and J Jones and he would easily make the Cowboys running game as close to last year. The truth is, with that vaunted O-line in tact it made business sense to let Murray walk, as good of a Cowboy as he was. His age may be younger than Peterson's (if he signs in Big D) but those legs of Murray's were used and abused last year. The overall intent was to ride Murray last season as much as they could and if he demanded to much $ then bye bye. BYE BYE came today and the 'Boys let him go more so than the Eagle stealing him away. Like i said he was a GREAT Cowboy while he was in Big D but this is a business decision and a good one by Jerry and Company.

High probability this will happen...However, not sure if it's a good thing for the Cowboys  if their (or Jerry Jones sticking his nose where it doesn't belong) intent was indeed to swap running backs...but with Jerry Jones anything is possible!

For one thing Peterson is from Texas and both Peterson and Murray played at Oklahoma...which should make Jerry Jones happy ...however if those are his criteria they are definitely the wrong ones...+ Peterson is 3 years older with some major knee injuries on his resume...

Yea, it wouldn't surprise me either Sharkman because their criteria is that apparently beating a child with a switch is allowed in Texas! Hahahahaha.

Cowboys Sign Darren McFadden, actually i like it and ALOT as do many and here are some great reasons why:

We can't believe we're about to say this, but the Cowboys did exactly the right thing by letting DeMarco Murray go to the Eagles, where he signed a five-year, $42 million deal (with $21 million guaranteed) on Thursday, and instead settling on Darren McFadden, who they inked to a two-year deal, worth up to a reported $5.85 million.

Whether Jerry Jones has evolved as a general manager (seems unlikely given that he was this close to drafting Johnny Manziel last year) or the praise should be reserved for Stephen Jones (an eminently more likely scenario), the bottom line remains: The Cowboys were smart to save their money.

For starters, running back is the most fungible position in football. Teams can find comparable production for much less than what the Eagles paid for Murray, or the Bills are now paying for LeSean McCoy. Also: Murray is 27, was overworked a season ago, and has an injury history. (Yes, we know, the same can be said of McFadden, except that he just didn't sign a $42 million deal.)

Which brings us to this sobering table, courtesy of CBSSports.com's Will Brinson:

390 CARRIES OR MORE
PLAYER YEAR CARRIES GAMES NEXT YEAR RUSH YARDS NEXT YEAR

DeMarco Murray 2014 392 ??? ???
Larry Johnson 2006 416 7 559
Ricky Williams 2003 392 0 (retired) 0 (retired)
Eddie George 2000 403 16 939
Jamal Anderson 1998 410 2 59
Terrell Davis 1998 392 4 211
Barry Foster 1992 390 9 711
Eric Dickerson 1986 404 12 1288
Gerald Riggs 1985 397 16 1327
James Wilder 1984 407 16 1300
Eric Dickerson 1983 390 16 2105
Good luck with that, Philly.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys get McFadden, a chronic underachiever during his seven years in Oakland. Some of that is a function of playing for some terrible teams, but some of that is on McFadden, who has averaged 3.3 yards per carry the last three seasons, and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards just once since coming into the league in 2008.

The good news is that in Dallas, McFadden will play behind the league's best offensive line (the Raiders' line ranked 28th last year), according to Football Outsiders. He also won't be expected to carry this offense; that burden falls to Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Jason Witten and the aforementioned offensive line.

Instead, McFadden will join Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar, Ryan Williams -- and anyone else the Cowboys sign or draft -- for a backs-by-committee approach to running the ball. The strategy not only shares the workload, but lessens like likelihood McFadden gets hurt, a reality that has plagued him throughout his career (only once has he played in all 16 games in a season).

But as CBSSports.com's Jared Dubin wrote on Thursday, shortly after Murray-to-Philly was official, the Cowboys' running game will be fine.

What it comes down to here is that the Cowboys still have options. Losing Murray is a problem, but it's not one that doesn't have readily available solutions. Armed with possibly the best offensive line in the league (from which they're returning all five starters, three of whom -- Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin -- were named First or Second-Team All-Pro), the Cowboys can afford to go in almost any direction they want with the running back situation.
In truth, this is less about McFadden and more about how the Cowboys replace Murray's production with the group of backs they take into training camp. So while losing Murray saddens Romo -- "Obviously, it's not an ideal situation ... that's disappointing," the quarterback admitted on Thursday -- the Cowboys' offense should be just as explosive in 2015.
