Will Carey Price return this season??

This is the question of the day. A few weeks ago, i posted that Price would likely return in late January as the team promised, but that it would not surprise me if he was out longer since knee injuries for a goaltender can be extremely troublesome. I also posted that my sources (who are usually extremely reliable) had told me that the best way to treat Carey Price was to have him go under the knife, but this type of operation usually requires a three-month rehabilitation period. Were he to undergo the surgery back when he first got hurt, chances were that he'd be back in time for the playoffs 'in the best case scenario'. However, not having him for the second half of the season also made it a possibility that the habs may miss the playoffs, although they were way up in the standings at the time. So the team's medical staff decided to gamble and try to avoid surgery this season by having him rest for at least six weeks, hoping that his right knee would heal enough to permit him to be able to play by the end of January.

However, the team announced yesterday that (as i had foretold) that Carey Price will not be back this month. The earliest date of a possible return is now early February. I doubt very much it'll happen this soon. He's still as yet to skate, and once he gets clearance to skate and start practicing, it'll take him a few weeks to get back into game shape. He's a goaltender, not a forward, and getting back into game shape is a longer process since a goaltender's job includes a lot of acrobatics and bending down on the ice....and Price employs the famous 'butterfly' style, which is very demanding on knees and groins.

If he does indeed come back this season, i'm guessing a March 2016 return.

Did anyone catch PK's antics after they won the game in Boston?? He's hugging the goalie while pretending to be humping him and shouting: "Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! Oooh! Oooh!" What the hell was that all about?? :noidea:

The story i'm getting is that Subban's outburst happened while Pacioretty was being interviewed on-camera. I was told Subban was quite loud and that Pacioretty could hear what he was saying. Pacioretty, i was told, did not appreciate what he was hearing and momentarily interrupted what he was saying and gave Subban the stare-down.

It's entirely possible that the guy who is supposed to be scoring goals (Pacioretty) wasn't very happy at hearing the selfish Subban throwing the rest of the team (goal scorers like Pacioretty) under the bus during his tirade.

Here's a clip of Pacioretty's postgame interview (you see him take a pause while you hear Subban off-camera):

The PK Subban Show a.k.a. "The Road to the Winter Classic"

Here's the final episode of the 4-part series. Check out Subban announcing the lineup at the 3:55 mark. It's full of profanities, as usual. No wonder no one on that team can stand him!! What an idiot!!!

If i were a player or coach on that team, i'd need a year's supply of duct tape to try to shut this guy up!

What happened to 'No Excuses' for Canadiens?

by Stu Cowan, Montreal Gazette

During the first intermission of Saturday’s game between the Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre, an interesting question was brought up in the press lounge: Are the Canadiens in a slump, or is this their identity?

After a 3-1 loss to the Penguins it sure seems like the latter.

Since the beginning of December, the Canadiens have a 5-13 record. They haven’t even picked up a loser point during that span by getting to overtime or a shootout. And they haven’t won two games in a row since the end of November.

The problem is simple: they can’t score.

In the 18 games since the beginning of December, the Canadiens have scored 34 goals — an average of 1.89 per game. Even with Carey Price in goal you’re not going to win many games when you can’t average even two goals per game. And goalie Mike Condon was the Canadiens’ best player Saturday night.

Coach Michel Therrien likes to say you need to score three goals to win in today’s NHL and the Canadiens have scored three goals or more four times since the beginning of December — and lost one of those games 4-3 to the Philadelphia Flyers.

P.K. Subban scored the only goal for the Canadiens on Saturday night after going 33 games without finding the back of the net. It was the former Norris Trophy winner’s second goal of the season and his first since Oct. 24.

“I couldn’t give a s— about my f—ing first goal in however long,” Subban said after the game. “It doesn’t f—ing matter.”

He added: “I’m not a goal-scorer. It’s not my job to score goals.”

Really?

For $9 million a season I’m sure the Canadiens are expecting more than two goals from Subban after 43 games, especially since he’s a key player on the power play, which ranks 19th in the NHL with an 18.1 per cent success rate. There are 82 defencemen in the NHL with more goals than Subban this season.

When the Canadiens got off to a franchise-record 9-0 start this season they were averaging 3.9 goals per game and scored at least three goals in every one of those games.

What the heck happened?

“Confidence,” said captain Max Pacioretty, who dropped a few F-bombs of his own to the media following a 6-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Dec. 19. “I’ve answered that question before and it’s always the same answer. We got to have that confidence.

“Everyone’s probably going to drop their own opinions,” Pacioretty added about why the Canadiens can’t score. “Everyone has a style of playing, everyone has a way that they put the puck in the net. Not everyone does it the same way. Got to look in the mirror and make sure you do what it takes to score goals.”
Scoring goals is one thing, but coming out totally flat on a Saturday night at the Bell Centre against Sidney Crosby and the Penguins is another problem and Therrien and his coaching staff have to look in the mirror on that one. The Canadiens were outshot 12-5 in the first period and it was Condon who kept them in the game.

“We got some young players and I thought in the first period we didn’t dictate,” Therrien said after the game. “I felt that we were watching them way too much. We got better starting the second period.”

Not good enough.

For a team that has “No Excuses” plastered on the locker-room wall, there seems to be a lot of them now, including Subban’s line about it not being his job to score goals.

When asked after the game why his team can’t score anymore, Therrien responded: “Both goalies played really well. We really pressed. I like the way that we started the second period, we got a big push. (Marc-André) Fleury made some key saves. We got to keep fighting. We got chances, but we faced a goaltender that made some key saves.”

Said Pacioretty about the slow start: “I don’t know if it’s penalties or what. Obviously, there’s no excuse for that. We got to come out hard. It wasn’t our best first, it wasn’t our worst.”

The Canadiens got a spark when Brendan Gallagher returned to the lineup at the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day after missing 17 games with two fractured fingers. The Canadiens beat Boston 5-1 — but that was as much a case of the Bruins being brutal as the Canadiens playing well. And Gallagher can’t be expected to carry this team by himself.

Tomas Plekanec has one goal in his last 27 games, Lars Eller has one goal in his last 24 games, David Desharnais has one goal in his last 21 games and Tomas Fleischmann was made a healthy scratch the last two games after scoring one goal in 19 games.

After Saturday’s loss, the Canadiens found themselves in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings, three points ahead of the ninth-place Ottawa Senators and four points ahead of the 10th-place Penguins.

Things won’t get easier this week for the Canadiens, who play the Stanley Cup-champion Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night at the Bell Centre before visiting the St. Louis Blues on Saturday and the Blackhawks on Sunday.

The Canadiens could find themselves out of a playoff spot by next week — and that could also be their identity at the end of the season.

There's no other way to put it: PK SUBBAN IS AN IDIOT!

Did you see him when he went over to congratulate Condom after the game ended?? What the hell was that all about??

He is such a huge distraction on that team!! I doubt very much he'll be chosen to be on Team Canada at the upcoming World Cup. Babcock won't put up with a clown like that on his team. Now i'm starting to understand better his benching during the entire Sochi Olympics (and the reluctance Yzerman had in selecting him to the team).

p.s. I think there are serious mental issues there.

An incident is making the airwaves this morning & appeared on some internet sites which is about an incident involving Alex Galchenyuk's girlfriend Chanel Leszczynski. Details are still coming in and we'll know more as the days go by. But so far, it's known that after the Pittsburgh/Montreal game Saturday night, Alex Galchenyuk decided to hold a party at his Sherbrooke West penthouse condo. Women and men were at the party, and among the guests was fellow hab Devante Smith-Pelley.

What has been reported is that Galchenyuk's girlfriend later showed up and wasn't too happy for whatever reason, probably a situation involving another girl at the party. I'm also hearing that she wasn't aware of the party and when she showed up, she was furious and told everyone to get the hell out of there!

What i'm hearing is that early Sunday morning, Miss Leszcynski got into an arguement with Mr. Galchenyuk and assaulted someone at the party. Word is that it was Galchenyuk himself. Someone at the party then called 9-1-1 at around 8am and the cops showed up. They interviewed people who were at the party and some of Galchenyuk's neighbours and building staff.

Chanel Leszynski is 27 years old and it's somewhat well known that she used to be a stripper in Quebec City (Lady Mary-Ann). She also has appeared in the popular Quebec magazine 'Summum'.

Reports indicated that she was arrested and that assault charges could follow.

Michel Villeneuve, a well-known radio sports personality, joked on the airwaves this morning that "when you go out with a girl named 'Chanel', only trouble will follow."

I'm certain that Michel Therrien and Marc Bergevin aren't smiling too much this morning. Although Galchenyuk is blameless in the whole thing, the habs don't like their players making news. Will he be the next to go?

Girlfriend of Canadiens’ Galchenyuk arrested in domestic-violence case

La Presse has reported that the girlfriend of Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk was arrested Sunday morning in what is being treated as a case of domestic violence.

La Presse reported that a 911 call was made from the apartment where Galchenyuk lives in a hotel on Sherbrooke St. at 8 a.m. Sunday. La Presse reported that police were sent to the apartment and questioned the 21-year-old Galchenyuk, his girlfriend — 27-year-old Chanel Leszczynski — guests at the apartment and hotel and building staff. Lesczczynksi was arrested after being identified as the instigator of the fight. La Presse reported that Galchenyuk’s teammate Devante Smith-Pelly was also at the apartment.

The Canadiens played the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night at the Bell Centre, losing 3-1.

During practice Tuesday, a Canadiens official confirmed the story and told the media that Galchenyuk and Smith-Pelly would be meeting with general manager Marc Bergevin after the practice and wouldn’t be available to speak with the media. Neither would coach Michel Therrien or Bergevin.

La Presse reported that Galchenyuk chose not to file a complaint of domestic violence, but police are required to forward the case to prosecutors for review.

On Tueday morning, Montreal police confirmed being called to a Sherbrooke St. address on Sunday but would not provide details

“We received a call around 8 in the morning but we’re not going any further than that,” police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant told the Montreal Gazette Tuesday.

He said the incident occurred at 400 Sherbrooke St. W., a 37-storey residential complex in downtown Montreal.

Nice to see GG2 was not the only party broken up there  I wonder if Alex knows there were 20 hot GoodGirls in his penthouse long before he owned it

At least the cops were never called to our party, just the security that EB fought tooth and nail to get us an extra hour.

PS...Hey Alex, hope you changed the sheets ;)

PSS...Reverdy, this will look good on your resume "put on a show with two hot babes for everyone in what would one day become AG's home" :thumb:

Was Chanel at your party also?? ;)

Joking aside, imagine all the ribbing he'll get from opposing players in the next hockey games!

He and DSP met Michel Therrien and Marc Bergevin privately today. I also heard that prior to having his party, they were seen partying it up at a popular downtown nightclub (New City Gas maybe) and later moved the party to the condo he rents. Supposedly Chanel arrived in the early hours and caught him with two girls in his bed. Supposedly the girls were dressed. She kicked them out of the appartment and they forgot some of their personal belongings and when they tried to get back in, she refused to let them in. So they called the cops, and when the cops showed up at the door, Galchenyuk had a bloody nose and that's why they arrested Chanel for domestic assault.

Chanel will have to realize that hockey players fuck around all the time. All the time!! She'll have to learn that if she wants to go out with a professional hockey player, she's going to have to expect to share him with other women. Women are just a number to most young professional hockey players. They refer to them as 'puck bunnies'.

By the way, i also learned today that the main reason why the habs traded Brendan Prust was because they were unhappy with his off-ice behaviour and had deemed him a bad influence on their younger players.

By the way, the habs attempted to have the story burried in the papers by announcing today that Carey Price had been out skating since yesterday. Nice try!!!
