It's official. The Tigers swept the Red Sox today. Where are Merlot and Rumples? I hope they enjoyed the Miguel Cabrara and Victor Martinez show.

Boston sure has a nice lineup but the Tigers pitched well. JV is JV again this year (he actually had a good second half in 2015) and Michael Fulmer the Met's top prospect last year will be the rookie of the year. What a great trade for both the Mets and the Tigers.

Justin Verlander - Comeback player of the year
Michael Fulmer - Rookie of the year

That is awesome! The Tigers need to get on a roll like Cleveland was recently. And oh, they are around, you just need to have the passion to know where to look ;)

Make it two in a row for the Jays over the O's after a 9-1 crushing win in Toronto!

The Jays are now ahead in the AL East standings. Go Jays! :canada:

Andrew Miller traded to Cleveland

The Yankees traded him for prospects Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield & two minor league pitchers.

Indeed folks, the plug has just been pulled.

The Steinbrenners have taken off the leash on Brian Cashman. The only thing holding him back from doing bigger things was the leash he has had for many years. It's off. Other GMs now must beware of this pit bull as he savages the young talent of other teams desperate for some high priced veteran talent. It's essentially legal rape that we will be seeing Cashman commit against other teams.

He's finally simply doing the job he's being paid big dollars to do. He's doing what most of the other GM have been doing for a long time.

How many years now since the Yankees haven't been in the playoffs?

p.s. I would have held on to Andrew Miller, though. I consider him the best closer in the business. So now they absolutely must overspend everybody else and go after Chapman during the offseason.

Who will be traded next by the Yankees?

My money's on Beltran, Nova or McCann. It'll be difficult to trade CC and nearly impossible to trade A-Rod.

The Yanks now have arguably the best farm system in all of mlb, depending what happens in the next 24 hours before the trade deadline is ovah. This reminds me what Gene "Stick" Michael helped to build with the last Yankees Dynasty centered around the core of names like Williams, Rivera, Posada, Petitte and of course Jeter.

What EB said earlier about Cashman now off the leash and running free could be a very dangerous thing for the rest of baseball especially the AL East.

Beltran will be traded next, hopefully for some more blue chip talent.

As of now the Yanks have SEVEN prospects in the top 100, tied with only the Astros.

The Yankees hadn't been sellers in 27 years. They've picked up some very good prospects over the past few days, but that's what happens when you always miss the playoffs and start selling your stars.

Something tells me that they'll eventually trade all those prospects in order to trade for a big-name/big contract player in the offseason or next year. That's the Yankees way, after all. And their fan base isn't a patient fan base and won't stand for a rebuild.

Bryce Harper grew up a Yankees fan i read somewhere ;)

(personally i would rather have Mrke Trout but Harper is a nice consolation prize) :pound:
They are not going to need to make any trades, they have a lot of money coming off the books to sign free agents as needed.

I thought the Jays were in first?

Farm System Rankings as of June 15, 2016

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2645642-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-post-2016-mlb-draft

Angels 30th

Tigers 28th

Blue Jays 25th

Mets 19th

Indians 16th

Yankees 13th

Cubs 11th

Red Sox 3rd

Braves 1st

It was shocking to see the Yankees trade Chapman and Miller. Astonishing to see them each go to top contenders. Prospects in exchange have great potential, but do they fit the need. Boston has Moncada, frequently ranked number 1 among all prospects. But they are stacked with hitters and their desperate need is pitching. Even players with long proven records can be a bust. Temporarily??? See Price $30 million per year.

You never know what you have until you see it on the field in game conditions.

No. Former GM Alex Anthopoulos emptied the farm system last season when he made a few trade deadline trades, among them the David Price & Troy Tulowitski acquisitions. The previous year or so, he gave away top prospects in trades with the Marlins and the Mets.

Cashman strikes again! Dillon Tate (#4 pick in the 2015 draft) and 2 more arms for a 39 year old Beltran on a expiring contract, just a great trade for both teams especially for the Yanks.

It's official if it wasn't before this trade, the Yankees now have the Best Minor League System in all of MLB. Combine that with their willingness to spend big on free agents in a year or two and that will put them back on track not only to make the playoffs but hopefully add on some more championships.

Don't forget the Yankees signed 9 of the top 30 international free agents last summer and most were 16 year old Dominicans who never would have been draft eligible but nonetheless are studs. Yankees did this before they changed the rules on signing these young kids.

Unlike the other teams the Yankees will be able to pay these young studs if they develop into major league studs who become free agents.

Yankees young talent will start to explod again around 2018 and then it's going to be consistent great Yankees teams once again.
