You don't see it because he works like insect repellent. When you spray repellent on you don't notice it at all but then an hour later you notice you have stopped being swarmed and bitten. The Rangers give him short bursts of ice time during which he clears the ice (which is why he is called the Human Zamboni). Don't watch Rempe- watch the skilled players; who suddenly have ice to roam because the bugs are leaving them alone and not swarming them.

Rempe: playoff high 10:06 IT; 9 Hits! 9 hits in 10 minutes is like 18 for a regular player. Laviolette likes Rempe, and what he brings to the table. Insect repellent!

It was a great playoffs game in NY last night! 2 great teams and 2 great goalies, with the ambience at MSG up to the ceiling, hockey doesn’t get better than this.
And, no, I really didn’t see any Panthers hesitating about distributing heavy hits, we’ve seen some good ones from both sides.
But you see EB, on most of Rempe’s huge checks, we saw the Florida player being able to finish his play. The kid still has to learn how to do it and allow his team to recover the puck. But at 21, he has plenty of time to improve and damn, he can skate for sure!
I don’t think the cup finals will reach that level of entertaining.

Yep GOODROW was the big HERO....and SHESTERKIN played a HUGE game in a tight game with a lot of physicality/intense hits.....agree a very entertaining one.....et les NYR ne pouvaient pas se présenter en Floride avec une fiche de 0-2.
Rangers won the hits 51-40 (Rempe with team high 9 hits in 10 minutes) and outshot Florida slightly, 30-27. Shesterkin .963 save %. Great game, great hockey. As noted in prior posts both teams played great and it was as high quality hockey as it is going to get. If the Rangers had a lesser goalie, Florida wins the game.

It also doesn't hurt that they have home ice. I would love to have seen Team USA play them in Boston or New York. Then we would see what would happen. Unfortunately though it's not a home and home series.
So the Panthers have knocked Jimmy Vesey out of the series indefinitely (and maybe for good), but Blake Wheeler (anyone remember him?) may be his replacement for game 2:

On the other hand a disappointing loss for Edmonton. Draisaitl and McDavid- combined 0 points. Skinner played solidly with .917, but no offense could be mustered against Dallas and Oettinger. As the series shifts back to Edmonton, we can't be seeing combined no points out of the big 2. They have to do better than this.
Regarding the Panthers home crowd- a lot of them are ex patriated Canadians who need a hockey tit to suck milk from, and they are a good local substitute for Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs or Montreal Habs. However, the Miami area is also filled with retired New Yorkers who don't give a shit about the Panthers. They are transplanted New Yorkers and their first allegiance is to the Rangers, even if they attended a few Panthers games or even had more than casual interest. They are rooting for the Rangers, and will cheer every Rempe hit. New York Blood is thicker than Florida water!

Rangers are lucky, especially their captain, that chicken wing to the head is normally a 5 and a game misconduct.
I think he will get a game suspension for that.

The Rangers had an incredible 37 blocked shots today to 14 for the Panthers. That, and poor goalie play by Bobrovsky, was why they won the game. I think Wennberg may have screened Bobrovsky on the winning goal, but his save % was under .800!
