It's almost certainly not the first time that he drove drunk !

I thought he was suggesting she lost the baby. I have not read that is the case but certainly she is under tremendous stress and trauma which cannot be good for a baby. The TMZ article said she is expecting in 4 months.

The suspect made a variety of statements to police that were detrimental to his interest (to say the very least) and they will not help him when he is sentenced.
Many years ago I defended a drunk driver in a civil lawsuit that was filed in the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident he caused. He rear ended a couple of women who were stopped at a stop sign. They were not killed, but were whiplashed and thrashed around their car a little bit. Police came to the scene and my client said and did a variety of things that were very detrimental to his interest. All of those statements and actions were recorded in the police report in detail. If I repeated them here, you guys would laugh. Making matters worse, he was also an attorney and should have known better. He knew it later on. Liquor loosens the inhibitions and the lips and causes people to say and do stupid things. When I met the client and went over the police report he knew it and was quite ashamed. He just wanted the civil suit to go away and we did make it go away eventually with a settlement.
