Looks like first step being taken towards removing Dr. Fauci, think he’ll be fired or reassigned in a month or two. There’s really not much anyone can do to discredit Dr. Fauci. He has certainly earned his credibility & his advice on the coronavirus has been similar to other health authorities among the developed nations.

Do you think Fauci will end up on dancing with the stars?

Coronavirus infections rose above 13 million across the world on Monday, according to a Reuters tally, climbing by one million in just five days in a pandemic that has killed more than half a million people.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said there would be no return to the old normal for the foreseeable future, with too many countries headed in the wrong direction.

“The virus remains public enemy number one,” he told a virtual briefing from WHO headquarters in Geneva.

“If basics are not followed, the only way this pandemic is going to go, it is going to get worse and worse and worse. But it does not have to be this way.”

The Reuters global tally, which is based on government reports, shows the disease is accelerating the fastest in Latin America. The Americas account for more than half the world’s infections and half the deaths.

Donbusch, I didn't know that.
Another one who will be off track.
There I am completely disillusioned.

Again I disagree about Dr. Fauci.
He misled everyone in the beginning with down playing this whole pandemic in February and March and telling people masks were not necessary at all and could actually give you a false sense of security and make things worse. He said go on a cruise if you want.
He was nothing but a mouth piece and brown nose for the WH administration.
Now that things have totally soured and gone totally out of control, and It is obvious to anyone who has a brain, he is trying to save his ass by finally doing what as a leading professional expert he should have done in the first place.

I have no sympathy for brown noses .
Dont take a job if you are not willing to take the consequences of doing the right thing.
If you want to be famous in front of the world then do it for something that will help humanity and not for fame and your personal gain.

Fradi, I agree with many of your findings, but there are others thing to consider.

Dr. Fauci, like all health directors around the world, had never faced such a toxic virus. At first we didn't even know that contagion could occur between asymptomatic people.

And another fundamental thing is that almost everywhere in the world public health officials were supported, but he was not.

This is fundamental, when Dr. Fauci said something and your President arrived in public and did exactly the opposite.

Yes, he should have immediately resigned, as a lot of people around the President did

Dr Fauci is the number one infectious disease expert supposedly in the US.
He has faced Ebola and countless other infectious diseases throughout his career.
I have no doubt in my mind he knew right from the beginning how potentially dangerous this virus can be.
If he had to play lip services to the WH then he should have resigned, I doubt he will ever have to pick fruit for a living.
Unfortunatey like for many fame and having people all around the world hang on your every word does strange things to people. He is not the first one to succumb to this nor the last.

This however is not an excuse we should accept other than he is human and therefore corruptible by fame and the spotlight.
Trying to make him out to be some kind of hero is totally wrong in my book.

Fauci lied or he is incompetent. I think he lied.
He may have lied for a noble reason....to avoid panic and hysterical buying like this toilet paper fiasco.
He most definitely lied when he downplayed the efficacy of masks to the general public. There was a shortage of masks and he wanted to protect the limited supply for healthcare nurses and medics , and first responders. His intentions were good but the consequence was that thousands of lives were lost that shouldn`t have been.

He lied repeatedly, I don’t think he is incompetent, down playing the virus for the first two months completely, not just about the masks.
I remember him saying there is no reason not to go on a cruise that they are relatively safe and well controlled.

I think he struggled continually with his conscience, you could see it on his face sometimes when Trump would get up and make one stupid comment after another with the Clorox and other stuff, not knowing how to disagree and still be able save his job in the spotlight.
Unfortunately his ego won right up to the point where now you don’t need to be an an expert to realize that it is totally out of control in all but 3-4 states.

That is open to interpretation, to say the least.

He has faced Ebola and countless other infectious diseases throughout his career.

A gay friend who is a world-class doctor himself (top oncologist in one of the leading hospitals) is extremely critical of Fauci's work on HIV. There is an excellent book documenting (among other things) that part of his illustrious career.

Nothing political, by the way, the guy is a Trump hater with the best of them.

Fauci lied or he is incompetent. I think he lied.
Trump is a salesman. So, he lies as he breathes, and people can expect that. Fauci positions himself foremost as a scientist. For a scientist intentional lie is a mortal sin notwithstanding the motivation. If you are caught of an intentional lie in hard sciences like physics, mathematics etc. you are immediately expelled from the community. I bet he would never claim this nonsense about masks and some other stuff in a paper for a peer reviewed journal. So why lying to the general public for a political expediency is acceptable?

I somewhat agree with Fradi's criticisms of Dr. Fauci, but it was not just him but MANY in the US medical profession who misled us. As I said in late December 2019 my pulmonologist and I had a long conversation about the possible impact of Covid 19 and he told me "it will be no worse than a new strain of the flu" and not to worry about it. He was parroting what everyone else thought at the vast health network that covers much of my State.

However this is not the reason why Fauci will be fired. His firing sets him up as a fall guy, someone Trump can credibly finger point to for part of the blame. Note that I said part of the blame because I do believe the medical profession in the USA is worthy of some blame on this. Of course Fauci, expert though he is in infectious diseases, and like everyone else in the medical profession, had no experience in dealing with Covid 19. That experience is still being developed.

Fauci obviously is protecting the CDC, redfield and alazar but to accuse the guy of lying?? Lol, this shit flew outta a bat and landed on some Chinese persons nose and that’s how this ALL STARTED. It’s a new virus, you kinda have to go along and figure stuff out.

What surprised me the most is some of the old F’ers out there running their mouths. Like isn’t this the second go around? Do you all have short memories? Like there was a time where people didn’t know shit about HIV. You think rock Hudson’s, Freddie mercuries, and eazy E’s docs were all incompetent, making shit up and lying?

Keep skinny dippin in denial boys

Hey my fine feathered friend why not catch up on the news. Fauci recently admitted that he lied about the masks a few months ago . He did so to protect the limited supply. He also downplayed the dangers of the virus back in February/ March in a TV interview.

Florida recorded 15,300 new cases on Sunday, the most since the pandemic began.
Florida surpassed the total for New York at the height of the pandemic.
