Over 99% of new COVID cases are still from the Delta variant. All this fear mongering by the fake news, xenophobic travel bans, and threats of lockdowns do nothing except to cause premature panic. We need to wait for the real science in a couple of weeks to determine what the testing results show us. Right now, all that I've been hearing is that the Omicron variant is milder than the Delta and MIGHT be easier to transmit. We will all know soon enough just how bad this new variant is or if the current vaccines are ineffective.

Personally I`ve made a choice to not take certain vaccines like the common flu or against Shingles.

One of my friends (ex-roommate from university days) got Shingles and he said it's utterly brutal. We both had chickenpox together and he said shingles was much worse than chickenpox.

So he advised me to get the vaxx asap. The older shingles vaxx was barely 50% effective but the latest one (Shingrix) is 90%+ effective. I highly recommend you get it. I got mine despite not meeting the age cutoff.

In December I will have my third dose of Pfizer's anti-covid vaccine, because another variant has just appeared.

My mother, a few years before she died, had shingles.

She suffered a lot, she had a lot of pimples and pain in her back.

She told all these children that it would be better to take the vaccine. And all of us got vaccinated.
Luckily the new 2-dose vaccine had just been released.

NYC to require all private sector employees to be vaccinated. First city in the states to do this. It probably wont last, but it's a sign of bad things to come.

Booster shot protects against the omicron variant. Let's see how the fake news decides to spin this:

What is more annoying and full of shit

- The fake news screaming the world is coming to an end
- The Moderna CEO saying the world needs the latest and greatest version of the Moderna vaccine
- The people that don't understand the basic of statistics, screaming "see the vaccine doesn't work"

Tough call.

Yesterday in USA

+164 k new cases.

2074 dead

It's human disaster.

If only there was some way to prevent all of this human suffering...some way to train the immune system to recognize and destroy the viruses.

Welp, time for more thoughts and prayers.

[...]

Right?

The UK is losing their shit over Omicron:

The growing threat means the urgent twin imperatives of all policy now are to save lives and prevent the NHS becoming overwhelmed by what Boris Johnson in his televised address called “the tidal wave of Omicron coming”. The UK Health Security Agency has already warned that the new variant could produce 1m infections a day by New Year’s Eve.

So the question is: what are we doing?

Yes Wetnose,

UK omicron cases estimated at 200,000 infections every day, Sajid Javid says.

It comes as the NHS’ Covid alert level was raised to four, the highest possible level.

The number of daily Omicron infections in the UK has been estimated as being at 200,000, Sajid Javid has said as he warned omicron cases are going to “dramatically increase”.

“There’s this assumption that something more transmissible becomes less virulent. I don’t think that’s the position we should take,” says Balloux. Variants including Alpha, Beta and Delta have been linked to heightened rates of hospitalization and death — potentially because they grow to such high levels in people’s airways. The assertion that viruses evolve to become milder “is a bit of a myth”, says Rambaut. “The reality is far more complex.”
