Rinzler to the contrary. It's not a certainty but quite safe to think 40/70% of infected population will bring herd immunity. Of course this is not exact science but a long term safe bet.

Also remember a contagious disease is only dangerous if the infection ratio is above 1 (if one person infect no more then 1 other person).

We will resolve this over some months but much sooner, and with much fewer death, then Spanish flu.

Thanks! Will get to it Rinzler! I think that’s the key, if it’s moderately protective they should let people go back to work maybe. Their working on the antibody test to see if you have been infected

fyi the r0 of SARS-CoV-2 is above 1. well established at this point

the entire idea of herd immunity is fine in principle but is not demonstrated in the manner you suggest. in practice it depends on a large segment of the population being vaccinated. case in point being measles

we're far from there with SARS-CoV2

and getting to 40% to 70% of the population infected, if the virus is let loose without controlling the speed at which the virus spreads, we're still getting a collapse of the health care system like in italy

I haven`t always agreed with Rinzler, especially when it came to one popular escort....but I do agree with everything he has written about the novel coronavirus. Sounds completely factual and logical to me.

Interesting that Man911 seems to be of the mindset that we’ve had covid_19 since forever and it is here to stay , but I don’t really get it...

...who knows maybe in just a few months we will all receive “envelopes” with a quick testing kit and even a vaccine

Stay safe fellas

better to ignore most of what man911 writes about this stuff. He has no idea what he's talking about.

You should do your research before writing stupidities.

Please put down the drink.

How effective is the Rhode Island national guard gonna be going door to door asking if anyone’s been to NYC? Anyone would just answer some menacing looking person with a “no!” And probably close the door and be done with it?

I know that's why 1/3 of the world population is currently on a shutdown. Only massive rapid testing could bring the ratio to 1 or below. Until then (and until medication or a vaccine comes) it's shutdown to intermittent shutdown without international travel.

and getting to 40% to 70% of the population infected, if the virus is let loose without controlling the speed at which the virus spreads, we're still getting a collapse of the health care system like in italy

True and again hence the shutdown to keep our healthcare system afloat. By the way New York is quite close to Italy's level.

Time to connect with my old buddy Snake Pliskin and escape from New York.

I don’t suppose you could give me his number thegreatwalooo ?! Trump might change his mind
If Snake does Montreal we might also be needing “ next level “ transportation soon

I’m with you on this one SavoySuit , the key word here is “ novel”
But I understand how some folks can get it wrong , there is a lot of information out there and it can get confusing, so it’s cool

maybe well be able to slow the spread enough to get a chance for a vaccine to be developed (timeline uncertain, and so far the science seems to indicate that the immunity developed post-infection is weakly protective) or maybe a treatment that may help people suffering from the most severe forms of COVID-19

Thanks for the explanation
The immunity post infection is worrisome , anyways seems like we have a long way to go

I have a question for merbites:

If an escort posts that she tested positive for coronavirus & after her quarantine she's ready to go back to work & see clients would you see her? Since she's already battled the coronavirus she would likely feel that she's now immune to it (although there still isn't proof of this) and figures from now on she has nothing to risk. Would you now agree to see her? Or should you still be afraid that she may carry the virus or previous clients of hers may turn out to be positive of the virus?
