Some good news for a change. Half of the US has gotten at least one vaccine shot and it's believed that cases will be dropping dramatically in the next few weeks:
I am American and fully vaccinated. I had a long debate about the vaccine with my IT guy, who is "waiting" on the vaccine. He is as intelligent and well educated as I am. He argues that the long term impact on the DNA and the immune system has not been adequately researched and that the vaccine was therefore rushed. I think he makes valid points. I decided to roll the dice knowing the risk. He decided to wait. There are people that believe the same as he does. And that's why they will wait. So the question is did they stop researching the vaccines long term impact or is that research being stifled?

Connecticut's Covid restrictions are going to be significantly rolled back in the coming weeks. Restaurant curfew is being pushed back and all business restrictions will be lifted by May 19:
I would like to know what the plan is with Quebec right now. When will the borders with NY and Vermont be opened? Is there a game plan for easing restrictions and getting the border opened?
Some festivals that were usually held in june or july are hoping september will be more normal with less restrictions.I would take borders opening in August because we wanted to do a September trip from the beginning of the year. As long as some small piece of the summer remains that's good.
Pokerpro thanks for posting this as it now gives me an idea on when to set aside our trip. I attended the Montreal Jazz Festival 15 straight years from 2002-2016, but I have been absent since. I have many great memories of this event pre Covid, including Stevie Wonder in 2009 (largest crowd I ever saw at Jazz Festival) and Paul Simon in 2006. Although my favorite moment was when the Quebec High School champion band performed an amazing rendition of the Hawaii 5/0 theme song:Some festivals that were usually held in june or july are hoping september will be more normal with less restrictions.
Osheaga cancelled; jazz fest and Francos scaled down and pushed to September
"There will be a digital side to both festivals because with all of the restrictions, fewer people will be able to attend the live shows."montrealgazette.com
The simple explanation is as most people respected the stay at home ordered, specially around Christmas, and alot working from home, and no gathering in bars and restaurant (no Chrismas' office parties). And most people wearing masks, no crowdy shopping's mall. It just prevented the flue virus to circulate and infect us all. This year there was no flu season.
I don't know why, unless those (like Sol) who think the coronavirus is just the flu, by then we have a really long flu period for 2020-2021
