Over 77% of adults over 12 have had one dose and over 35% of adults over 12:have had 2 doses across Canada.
Children under 12 are not known to be transmitting the virus as much as adults nor do they get seriously sick.
once you get to these figures there are less people to transmit to that is why the drop is larger in people not getting infected than the one fully or partially vaccinated.
In any case the vaccine is free it works I got both doses and had zero side affects even with the Astra Zeneca, didn’t feel a thing either during or after the vaccination.
Yes other measures such as masks and social distancing are also adding to the drop in numbers, and I suspect so is the weather being warmer and people spending much more time outside where it doesn't spread nearly as much or easily as indoors.
The main thing is we are near getting to some what of a normal life again where we can now see family and friends go to restaurants and hopefully soon the borders will open so we can start travelling again.

99% Of People Killed By Covid Last Month Were Unvaccinated, Analysis Finds

TOPLINE In a stunning reflection of the efficacy of vaccines and an indication of the impact that widespread inoculation could have, an analysis of government data published Thursday by the Associated Press found nearly all Covid-19 deaths in the U.S. last month were among people who weren’t vaccinated against the virus.

In other words, 99.2% of the people who died from Covid-19 last month weren’t fully vaccinated against the virus.

A true statistic and sad indeed. We can only protect those who want to be protected. But this information is not something that's new. It's obvious, at least to many of us, that vaccines work so of course the majority of people catching COVID will be the unvaccinated. But anyway the CDC can get the word out to get vaccinated is a good thing.

(CNN)Drugmaker Pfizer said Thursday it is seeing waning immunity from its coronavirus vaccine and says it is picking up its efforts to develop a booster dose that will protect people from variants.

The situation in UK and Canada toward a booster dose.

U.K.'s vaccine advisory group has already released recommendations around booster shots

At this point, Canadian experts say, the existing COVID-19 vaccine schedule is offering excellent protection, including against the delta variant. But it's not yet known, they say, how long that protection lasts in various populations — and therefore when or whether a booster shot will be needed.

Pfizer is getting much of its most updated information from studies of the general population in Israel.
That country was first to vaccinate a majority of its citizens with double Pfizer shots.
Now its showing 35% of that inoculated population being re-infected with covid (mostly the Delta variant).
That is a signal for Pfizer to start producing a more effective booster shot against variants.

Republican lawmakers and personalities continue to push ridiculous lies about the safety of the COVID vaccine, as well as the COVID policies of the Biden administration. This is happening as COVID infections are going back up, and as the death toll is almost exclusively people who haven't been vaccinated. So by pushing these lies, Republicans appear to be trying to kill their own base, with isn't a good business strategy - and its definitely a bad electoral strategy.

[...]

It's called natural selection, Darwin's theory being applied to real world situation. This will just get rid of the stupid people that will not get the shot.

mod: since this started as a post about vaccination, this is moved in this thread instead of the one where it was, about the Republicans

So natural selection is the explanation for the disproportionate number of black and brown people dying of Covid?

They still have a drastically lower vaccination level and low intent to get vaccinated while arguably living more risky lives (weight, base health, living conditions).

Come on, stop seeing the world as a one note song. Let’s hope we can help everyone get vaccinated without becoming zealots. The death rate for Covid is not insignificant but it is also not sustained and population changing - what you would need for your natural selection theory to work.

I have a friend that will not get vaccinated. I said he was an anti vacc’er but he explained to me that he was pro immune system. I may disagree with him, but it’s his right to whatever he wants. People pushing others to get vaccinated in his eyes are no different than the “stupid” people you refer to.

last time I checked COVID kills people from all walks of life, but you think it’s only Republicans. Not sure what news they are feeding you up there, but I think it’s time to change the channel.

It evolved at first it was just Trump supporters now it is all Republicans. Guess it is like the virus it mutates. This is the new variant.
Hope there will be a vaccine for this.

Covid-19 should have never been politicized, and still shouldn’t be.

I blame the media more so than political parties. The media now politicizes everything and finds the extremists on both ends.
I don't want to start from unnecessary discussions, I just want to give my opinion.

Covid-19 should have never been politicized, and still shouldn’t be.

I don't agree, because if you left the decisions to the people, it would have been a total catastrophe, already there many speak only of their individual freedom.

We should not try to blame politicians and the media. It's time to help each other. Covid is not just a disease, it is a global pandemic.

Some presidents have chosen the economy over humans.

Republican Governors have been the most adamant about getting the country reopened, but now their plans are hitting a snag: Their residents within their own Party are the ones refusing to get vaccinated.
Now these governors are having to make public pleas to their voters by begging them to please go and get vaccinated so that we can all move forward.
This plea is coming a little too late for many Republicans who have already made up their minds that they don't want the vaccine.
It's a sad day when people make a medical decision based on political affiliation rather than the advice of their doctors.

These folks want to make their own personal medical decisions.
Of course, they don't want women to be able to make their own personal reproductive medical decisions.

I will not get vaccinated against Covid either. I am not against vaccines in general but i don't want to take this one specifically. I am rather young, healthy, i don't fear dying from Covid, i am sure my immunity system will flush it itself IF i get it, and thats a big IF because the chances are very small. If Covid is still around when i get to 50 years old and the vaccines been proven to be completely safe by then, then ill reconsider. But in my 30s i DO NOT NEED IT.

The people who make these ridiculous types of analogies are the same people who will deny that crime is running rampant in Dumbocrat states. We are all in this together. When Trump was president it was the federal governments fault, and now that we have sippy cup Joe in office they shift their blame back over to the states and local governments. When I got my vaccination they didn't ask for my political affiliation, because it should have NOTHING to do with this. If people of either political affiliation decide to not get vaccinated so be it and who gives a shit. It's a sad day when people make personal medical decisions based on what the bullshit media outlets decide what it wants to cover to boost their ratings. This article clearly is the byproduct of that.

While Pfizer is obviously in favour of a booster shot as it is not only profitable for them but keeps them in the forefront of news and leading contender of vaccines
I don’t trust the little leprechaun no mask, then need masks Fauci one bit, he is a media hound and opportunistic brown nose to which ever government is in power.
His predictions and opinions are on par with his baseball pitching ability.
I would trust the leading vaccine manufacturer to conduct trials and publish their findings much more than anything the fake leprechaun has to say.
I will get the booster shot as soon as it is available just like I did with the 2 doses of vaccine.

IMHO what the FDA needs to do is get their shit together and look to officially approve the vaccines instead of just giving them emergency use approval.

In order to do that they need full data on phase 3 trials. Fact is the long-term effectiveness and long-term effects of these vaccines is unknown.

I agree with you, I also do not want to take this vaccine main reason being the long term effects are unknown plus the chance of severe reactions are possible. It is not FDA approved yet, so till they are FDA approved and all data on phase 3 trials are available I prefer to not get this vaccine.
