Carey Price played his worse game of the season earlier tonight. He just plain stunk!!! Phew!!!!

He's back to being the Carey Price of the past two seasons. He'd getting older year after year. He's had serious injuries in the past which will never heal completely & as he gets older the risks to get re-injured increase.

Carey Price is on the first year of a multiyear contract which pays him $10 1/2 million per season for the next 8 years!!!!! Anyone interested in acquiring an aging goaltender past his prime for the next 8 years at $10 1/2 million per season?? I doubt it!!!!!! Oh yeah....he also has a non-movement clause which means he's staying put & not going anywhere.

Yep what a sloppy game for both teams.....notre défensive a été horrible...et que dire de Price...il a sûrement des objectifs personnels soit d'avoir la plus ronflante moyenne de buts accordés par match...lol........am sure NIEMI will get the net Saturday.

The best move would be to leave him unprotected for the Seattle expansion draft since he's probably untradeable at this point. Like the Pens did with Fleury. Hopefully he gets picked up and frees up 10M/YR in cap space. We'll see if the Habs have the balls to do that.

This would be a really good idea.

No it's not. As the Vegas expansion draft showed "all players with continuing and effective no-movement clauses have to be protected by their respective teams."

Carey Price has such a clause in his contract making it impossible for him to be left unprotected by the habs. M-A Fleury had no such clause which is why he ended up with Vegas.

The habs are stuck with him for many years to come. They won't even be able to buy him out when there'll be a few years left on his contract since he'll already have been 35 years old by then. Forget him ever being bought out since he'll have way too many years left to run on his current contract if they would ever buying him out before he reaches age 35.

The best that could happen with Price is that the Habs trade him to the Canucks since he'll be closer to where he prefers living, Kelowna, while accepting to still pay a good chunk of his contract. The Canucks have got a bunch goalies who are also injury prone but no track record of having accomplished anything, and nothing IMO indicates that they ever will. Doubtful that the Canucks will want to take on the full load of Price's contract but they might gamble that being closer to home, will bring back his game

Doc something tells me that Price would remove his clause if Seattle's team is happening. He is from the West coast and would mostly, I assume, prefer an anonymous city (for hockey that is) as opposed to crazy Montreal.

Cheers,

Carey Price has zero intentions of ending up in Seattle. Definitely not for an expansion team which will likely struggle for years. Vegas was an aberration last season. It never happened before or since. And that type of success for an NHL expansion team will never happen again.

Last season during the playoffs a well-known former merbite texted me to express his displeasure at Vegas making it all the way to the finals.
He told me that it cheapened the league. That Vegas had no business there & that it only proved that the NHL was a joke. I told him that i was actually pleased at Vegas' success & hoped they'd win the Cup. My reasoning was that we were experiencing history-in-the-making. There was no chance we'd see this again: an expansion team having so much success during the regular season & playoffs and now they'd be heading to the Stanley Cup final. My friend thought it over & admitted i had a point. This will never happen again.

Seattle is also located in a different country. Carey Price & his family have always lived in Canada, their true home. And the Price family loves Montreal and for as long as he choses Carey Price will remain in Montreal. He holds all the cards, not the Habs.

When they granted him that no-movement clause when they made him the highest-paid goaltender in the history of the game they erred. They should have told him "we'll give you all the money you want, but you have to be fair to us & leave us a bit of leverage. There's no way we'll give you $84 million over the next 8 years if you insist on having a no-movement clause. If so we'll give you less term or less money. You chose."

So for the next 5-6 years at least, Carey Price will be a Montreal Canadien & you can bank on it.
