I started in the hobby with street scene.
Not the same way as O.K. did (by walk)... Mostly by car driving around ho-ma.
From what I experienced, 99.9% of the girls I'v seen there are on hard drugs (Crack, Freebase, Smack, etc).
So they cannot have a cell phone, a PC or anything that would allow them to use the internet to advertise.
They are 100% focus on getting high non stop so No agencies want junkies on their roaster... (Some exceptions I guess)
They do not have their own appt... when they are not in the street, they squat somewhere or stay in crack houses...
I don't know how look the street scene these days since I've not been around since few years really...
But I recall when I drove by ho-ma, the scene was getting a lot quietter over time...

The only reason why girls would still do the streets is really because of their addictions and because they can't afford anymore having cell phones, internet etc...
Money they earn goes 99% into drugs. The rest goes into eating mostly depanneur food, ("Mr.Freeze" during these very hot days)...

When I was into the street scene, there was a lot of scam etc but I can say that I met also wonderfull persons (girls) that I will always remember and hope they are doing well.
I can easily say that I had, in the street, the best blow jobs ever and I met the most beautiful girls... (Well at least one that I remember to be the most amazing body and face I've seen...)
So there was not only "dirt bags" as some called them... Still, they were exceptions...

I don't know how it goes since quarantine, but I would have believed the street sceene to be very dead, and would believe there would be more LE patroling around...

So in the end, I believe the street scene, should it survive, will continue solely because of the Junkies (hard drug addicts).
Any ladies that think to jump into the sex work because of a shortage of money will use MP, Agencies, become indies...

Ah the good ole' days of the street scene, for those who judge it without ever having tried it, you don't know what the thrill of the hunt was like. Things have changed so much gentrification, more LE, websites, I mean for many cases it is for the better but I miss looking for the subtle signs, some women you'd never think were SW but you'd get a subtle hint, you'd say hi and strike up a conversation, or see them roaming for too long.

I had some of my best experiences on the street scene, for sure some sketchy ass ones too but overall you developed a sixth sense and knew when to bail on a situation. I have to give big ups to Oliver (or whomever he may be called now) for educating many of us and also just for the folklore, reading the stories was half the entertainment. Yes plenty of junkies and girls in bad situation, I tried to avoid those but sometimes they'd act fairly normal and you'd get fooled.

There was also normal women, just trying to "arrondir les fins de mois" sometimes you'd get lucky and get a number. Lots of girls coming from out of town too, just cruising to make some bucks to live out the MTL summer. I remember picking up a cute girl from BC and offered to take her back to the restaurant I was running at the time (after closing time) instead of a room. We had food a couple of beers and we fucked every which way in that dark dining room, people strolling up and down St-Laurent none the wiser to the debauchery going on inside!
