Look behind you.
I have been reading that the 6 bends easily, many issues already. I prefer Samsung android.

I am at an apple store right now. The 6 is bigger than my 5 and the 6 plus is even bigger. I am just looking so far but interested in hearing from someone who actually went from the 5 to the 6. I like my iPhone 5 but it is 2 years old

Bends easily? 9 confirmed cases of bending in over 15 million sold already. Hardly a big issue.

I went to the local AT&T store as well. They told me I am using 1.2 G data a month on a plan calling for 3. Gal told me if I cut data from 3 to 2 which is more than enough based on my usage history, I save $27 a month which offsets the $27 per month payment for the iPhone 6. Plus I trade in my iPhone 5 and get a $200 store gift certificate!!!!!! So they would actually pay me to buy a new phone!!!!

By the way my local AT&T store told me they are sold out and back ordered on both the iPhone 6 and 6 plus. The waiting list on back orders is 2 weeks for the 6 and 6 weeks on the 6 plus.

If you go the 6Plus route I'd suggest the 64GB model as opposed to the 16GB. 16GB in a phone doesn't last long at all!! 64GB 6 plus is $399. I pre-ordered one the first week they were on sale and it's scheduled to arrive on October 28.

Still not as strong as Android though.

That doesn't make any sense.

Android is an Operating system, ie software.

The iphone 6 bending is a bit of a red herring - for one it's the iphone 6 plus only and hardly any of those at that, not the iphone 6, and if you're bent (pun intended) to destroy your phone, you can do that with any one of them.

I just read this about the iphone 6 and 6 plus:
Security agencies condemn use of encryption on iPhone 6
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news...se-of-encryption-on-iphone-6/article20819200/

For hobbyists like us that may come in very handy

I'm in the same boat as EB, had iPhone 5 for 2 years, at the end of my contract, and deciding whether to upgrade to the 6.

I don't think the 6 is a huge upgrade from the 5 (which has LTE and a still adequately fast processor) and there are a couple advantages to keeping the 5:
1. Depending on your current plan, can save some $ by switching to a prepaid plan. For example, Cricket (owned by AT&T / same network) has an unlimited voice/text + 3GB plan for $45 per month
2. AT&T will unlock your phone for free, allowing you to switch the SIM card when traveling outside the U.S.

Which brings me to a question I've been meaning to ask the Merb community. Anyone have any recommendations for a prepaid plan to use when visiting Canada for a few days? I'm care a lot more about data than voice. I've read some people have had success with using the Virgin (Bell Canada) iPad plan on their iPhone, but not sure if this still works.

Sorry, meant Samsung galaxy. Not the kind of a person who ohhhhs and ahhhhs over a new phone, I still have the galaxy 2 and it does more than I ( and most people ) need. Not an apple fan.
For electronics I oooh & ahhh over a superb TV picture with a killer surround system, eg: Nice Ultra HD Tv, McIntosch amps with Klipsch speaker system.

Having been an Android user before Apple, I'd take Apples far superior, consistent operating system over Androids any way. I would probably never go back to Android after all the problems that piece of shit gave me.

Each has their own quirks, as I mentioned I still have my galaxy 2 and it has seen a lot of abuse and never had any issues.

I never had anything major with any of my Android phones. Now things about the Iphone I absolutely will never tolerate... First is the non-removable battery. Why would anyone want to buy a phone with a non-removable battery is beyond comprehension to me? First if the phone freezes removing the battery is the 100% way to reboot it. If you accidentally drop the phone in water removing the battery gives the phone a much higher change to work again. Other thing is when going away from home for long periods of time or having no access to a plug to charge the phone carrying a spare battery is much more convenient as it is much smaller, lighter, and cheaper then those bulky external battery packs. Lastly due wireless service providers force you to pay very high prices on a cellular price plan to get it subsidized. Also the Apple Iphone has far too many restrictions. One has to use Itunes for everything for one thing.

Yep the Samsung S2 is a great phone. Very reliable. I got the Samsung S4 about a month ago. My S4 is still good did not need to get an S5. Considering Samsung is the only manufacturer to offer phones with a removable battery the decision was a no brainer. Due to the want of the new phone I was able to get the Samsung S4 at a much cheaper price at $99 and was able to keep my grandfather plan I am paying only $31 with taxes. My goal is to keep costs low. Not worth it over a cellphone. Prices are already among the highest in Canada for wireless service.

I think the satisfaction level with an "Android" phone depends a lot on the hardware.
I had an LG phone which was a disaster, most functions were not intuitive at all and the touch screen was flakey as could be.
Switched to a Samsung Galaxy 3 - much, much better than the LG even though they ran the same OS.
Still not quite as good a UI as the iPhone, but very much usable

I like the iPhone. Cloud 500 mentioned the battery. Before the latest software upgrade, which added the automatic dimming/energy saver function, my iPhone 5 would always need to be charged before the end of the work day. After the recent software upgrade, if it is fully charged in the morning, I can run it all day without a charge, emailing my office and clients while in court, etc.. I have noticed that texting tends to run it down quicker, so if I am texting someone for like a half hour that will run it down a lot and I will need to charge it back up in the car charger. I am usually good to go for the whole day though.

It is really key for me because all of the down time in Court where I am doing nothing except waiting for a Judge to get through with prior business in Chambers. There is a lot of down time when you are in Court. Since my work email goes right to my iPhone, I am now a productive animal in Court. Back in the day this used to be wasted time, but now it is billable time city, baby!!!!! I can work on other files while waiting for a Judge to get through dealing with another case, and return emails etc. When I flew to Florida in March a stewardess saw me texting on my iPhone as I disembarked, and she said she never saw anyone text faster than me. I am an animal with texting and emails.

Cloud in almost 2 years never had any problem as far as having to replace the battery. Just sometimes needed to charge it but like I said since that last upgrade with the dimmer function, the phone conserves its energy when not in an active mode.

Chercherfemmes told me the new phones use a lot more data, so I will be interested to hear from the new iPhone 6 users what their jump in data usage is the first few months with their new iPhone.

Hey guys here is an interesting article on iPhone case manufacturers who are lining up to design cases for these new iPhones:

http://www.i4u.com/2014/09/82412/iphone-6-cases-big-gamble

The article suggests that due to Apple being very secretive about the product, case manufacturers need to wait and see how the cases will fit the phones before they can mass manufacture and make out like bandits.

This got me thinking because when I was at the local AT&T store yesterday they showed me two cases, one for the iPhone 6 and the other for the iPhone 6plus. I wonder if that company (it was not Otter- and I forget the name of it) paid off someone at Apple to leak the design so they could get those cases out to AT&T. I can almost guarantee that someone in Apple's design department could have been paid 7 figures for leaking this information, maybe more. 10 million phones have been sold so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is way more than the 4 and 5 at the same time after release. It is like the fucking Beatles of smartphones so far.

How did this manufacturer know the design? Will the cases fit? Did someone at Apple get a blow job plus money to leak the info?
