Hello everyone,

One more time I guess...Oliver was banned permanently by Mod 5 and following that ban he requested Fred Zed to remove his handle as well as all his posts. This request was granted. He will not be returning to MERB.

As far as the elf is concerned, he is also permanently banned from MERB. When he occasionally pops up with a new handle, this handle is also banned and the posts made are deleted. No note is made when his new handles are banned as there is no need to satisfy his need for attention by doing so.

Continually mentioning either one of these two posters serves no purpose at all. Any further mention will result in the post being edited or removed when discovered.

Perhaps I should do this in a pm. Feel free to delete this post. Both of the aforementioned former members had distinct styles and personnality traits which are recognizable by most long time members. When another poster emulates that style their names are ressurected to be used almost as adjectives which most people immediately grasp. So that was the purpose.

That was all. It was meant in harmless good humour which Lafemme and DUMPTHEPUCK picked up on. I was not prepared and don't fully understand the sensitivity with which you, and I guess one other, are approaching this. But this is such a disjointed thread at this point with no real purpose I'm going to ignore it from now on anyway.

For one thing, Oliver has emailed me in the past to request that mentions of his handle be removed from members' posts. I have not brought this up in the past as mentions of him have been few. I am well aware that certain past posters remain in people's memories, either fondly or not so much so. But bringing up former or banned members who are unable to respond on the board is unfair to them.

Sometimes it's better to simply allow these members to fade away into memory.
