Komisarek is one of those guys who has alot of intangibles that make him a very high demand D man......... he's big, has skill, usues his head (smart), doesnt make to many mistakes, is a team Leader....... all that equals a very good D man in todays NHL

Montreals Loss is Toronto's gain,......... thanks Habs! :D

Just one problem with your analysis: it's completely wrong. Komisarek's stupid penalty late in the third cost the Laughs the game. They were up 3-2 until his boneheaded move created a Habs powerplay. Of course the sad sack Leafs couldn't take the heat and ended up in their usual position at the end of the game: losers.

You've made close to 1000 posts bawking and bwahahaing about how bad the scabs are and how great the Leafs are going to be and your knuckleheaded bunch of losers - playing in their own barn (!) couldn't even beat the freakin Habs. Yeah, Burke's a real genius all right. Look out for another 42 years of failure in Hogtown.

Komi looking brutal tonight with the giveaways leading to a goal. As I said earlier, Komi has been exposed - Markov made this guy look so good. I wonder if he will score on his own net a la Bryan McCabe or will ToskaLOL come up big? :D

i agree. He's exactly the type of player brian burke has been looking for to toughen up this leafs team. He wants other teams to be afraid the next time they come to play at the acc. I'm sure he's not done yet in trying to improve toughness on this team.

Yeah, I'm sure other teams are really afraid to play at the ACC!

Bob McKenzie reports the Komisarek deal is five years at $4.5 million per season.

Wow!!! I think getting him for that kind of money is a great move by BB!!!!!

If it would have been for $5 million or more, i would have said the opposite. Great move, Brian!!!!!!! Another potential captain on the Leafs!!! :D

too funny! :D

And you say that the Leafs overpaid by giving a 5 year contract to their next captain for $4.5 million per?? Are you serious? This past winter, some teams were saying that Komisarek would get at least $5 million per season, if not more........

THE LEAFS MADE A BRILLIANT MOVE TODAY BY OBTAINING MIKE KOMISAREK AT A VERY GOOD PRICE!!!!!

Kommy is not only a top 4 defenceman, but he's also a character player with considerable leadership qualities. Heck, the Habs had him behind the bench as one of the assistant coaches last season when he was injured. This says a lot about the guy. Great move!

this stuff is hilarious :D

As for that over –rated, bag of hot air Burke, lets look at Maple Loser additions and subtractions.

Lost

Antropov (21G, 46 Points in 63 Games)
Moore (13G, 41 Points in 63 Games)
Kubina (14G, 40 points in 82 games)

Added

Komisarek (2G, 11 points, 121 pim in 66 games, on a playoff team)
Exelby (0G, 7 points, 120 pim, -2 in 59 games)
Orr (1G, 5 points, 193 pim, -15 in 82 Games on a playoff team)

Take away Antropov, Moore and Kubina’s production and add all the penalty minutes Orr, Exelby and Komisarek will rack up (hence a lot more time on the PK which translates into around 25% more goals against), on a team that is already lousy on the PK (dead last in the league at 74.7%). The Laffs were the worst defensive team in the NHL last season (dead last with the highest goals against, 293 total = 3.5 goals against per game) and will be even more so this season – and this along with an already feeble offense. End result: the Maple Laffs are no where near a playoff team

The Maple Losers have no team leadership. Wilson is an ineffective coach and has failed miserably to light a fire under your team. Moreover, there is no on-ice leadership to compensate for the coach's failure. You have no captain or anybody who can currently become captain and successfully lead by example. The Laffs are a disorganized, dispirited team, with no cohesion to speak of, and no system to define it.

By no stretch of the imagination have the Laffs made themselves into one of the toughest teams in the league nor do they have one of the top D-corps but the Habs actually might have made themselves into one of the speediest teams in the NHL and in the new NHL speed kills. Don't be surprised to see Montreal put up another 20 points more than the Laffs. While Burke was targeting the “best players not playing in the NHL” Bob was busy signing proven NHL performers.

It’s an annual right of passage for delusional Toronto fans to get all full of themselves about how great the Laffs are going to be. For them it is the one time of year that they can get away with it because there is no fear the team will step on the ice tomorrow and make them look foolish. They will have to wait a few more months for that.

Sorry Maple Loser fans, a marginal (at best) upgrade on the blueline (241 more PIM's) and significant subtractions up front (48 goals and 127 points less) DOES NOT = a playoff team

Excellent analysis!

For the sake of Habs fans, i surely hope that Mike Cammalleri scores at least 30 goals. However, it won't be easy for him playing in a Jacques Martin system.

For the sake of Leafs fans, i surely hope that any forward can score at least 20 goals. However, it won't be easy playing in a Ron Wilson system.

Montreal: average 2.6 goals for per game

Toronto: average 1.8 goals per game

you lose again fool! :D
