You better tell that to this Leafs fan, one that actually seems to have a functionning brain: :D

"What a joke trade this is... i thought the youth movement was the way to go forward. Stralman was the only other 'pure' potential puck moving d-man we had on the depth chart.
Burke, you may have just traded away a long-term kaberle replacement for a 2nd round pick that probably wont play until 2014."

That’s not the only one, here are a few more from hfboards (where one can actually find some intelligent, realistic and coherent Leaf fans)

Stralman is the only good puck moving prospect D we have. If this is the deal then Burke must have made the trade from a fishing cabin while he was under the table.

I wouldn't consider Wayne Primeau something at this point in his career.

Easily my least favorite move so far, an absolute step backwards in my books.

Why? Why we do need Primeau with Devereaux already there? I don't get this move at all. Don't like it, don't want it.Trade Stralman if you must but do it for something worthwhile.

How many fourth line scrubs do we need

Primeau is the type of guy you pick up on waivers for nothing.

thats still crap. 50+ pick in almost 2 years from now and 4th line hump for 2 good young prospects?? I no Burke has to make space, but he's being ridiculous with this trade.

Wow...I didn't think Burke could go worse than the Kubina deal.

Primeau = waste of cap space + waste of roster spot

Idiotic trade. Primeau is another bottom 6 stiff and Stralman had actual potential. Terrible move by Burke.

What a stupid ****ing deal. I wouldn't make this for Primeau and a 1st, so I don't realy give a **** if a 2nd is coming back. What the ****?

Wow........just wow...****ing terrible. I had a bad feeling the leafs were going to trade Stralman. Disgusting :

Ok, This is obviously a terrible deal He just gave away our top defense prospect AND Colin Stuart, for a crappier version of Jamal Mayers whos making 1.4 Million!

Anyone have the number for Burkie's dealer?

EPIC FAIL!!!

I'm now convinced that at his next press conference, Burke will suddenly start to sputter and repeat a la that scene from Total Recall, he will split open and a grinning JFJ will be revealed, his hands still clutching the levers of his advanced Brian Burke robot suit

Stralman is our next Brad Boyes. :
So essentially:
Kubina, Stralman an 7th 2012
For What?
Exelby, Primeau and 2nd 2011
ffs
I guess burke is on Tank Nation!

I would have rather kept Stralman....
Burke is an idiot here BIG mistake

even if it is just stralman for a 2nd - I dont like it. I think stralman has alot of potential

I cant believe we couldn't even get a 2010 second, 2011 is by some accounts going to be one of the shallowest draft of this decade.

ugh. don't like this deal at all. Stralman could make us really regret this one.

it just makes room for guys like Jeff Finger to make the team The deal also takes away an offensive spot in our roster too **** this GM of ours

This moves sucksass. Just more proof Burke isn't the genius some of us think he is.

It's a horrible deal, this one STINKS.

Why the Leafs are the worst managed team ever:
We hold onto our precious star players until we cannot get full value (or nothing at all) for them in a trade
We sign our players to NTC, which means we wont be able to trade them when we need too
We trade our bright prospects for crappy old plumber players
We take away roster spots from our prospects
We trade away draft picks (just about every bad trade in Leafs history involves us moving picks)
WE SUCK

Wellwood, who had been a restricted free agent, scored 18 goals and added nine assists in 74 games last season. The 26-year-old also had six points in 10 playoff games.

Another brilliant move by this sad sack franchise :D either trade away skilled prospects for pylons like Primeau or give them away on the waiver wire!

24-Jun-08 Placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Loser Leafs fans petition for return of old-school logo

Yet more evidence the Maple Turds are the laughing stock of the league!

http://www.thestar.com/sports/article/673255

Since the on ice product has sucked since 1967, Maple Loser fans want the old logo back, LMFAO! Maybe these are some of the same Laff fans who think Sittler went to Vancouver! Why don’t Maple Loser fans start a petition demanding a real NHL team for their city?

Growing up in Drumbo, Ont., just north of Woodstock, the 27-year-old remembers the excitement of the 1993 playoffs, when the team came within a game of the Stanley Cup final, before being felled by the Wayne Gretzky-led Los Angeles Kings.

Dumbo, Ont. ?? Must be where loser Laff fans live!

Actually, they had a parade in Toronto to celebrate the excitement of making it to game 7 of the 1993 conference finals!

The National Hockey League is reportedly investigating Marian Hossa's new 12-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks amid allegations that it circumvents the collective bargaining agreement.

According to the Edmonton Sun, if Chicago is found guilty, it could face a maximum fine of $5 million and the loss of draft picks. Hossa and the Blackhawks allegedly agreed that the star forward would retire before the end of the contract, which would lessen the cap hit on the team.

Hossa's deal is for a total of $62.8 million but is front-loaded, as he will make $7.9 million for each of the first seven years before dropping to $4 million in 2016-17. In the final four years of the contract, Hossa makes a total of $3.5 million.

If he were to retire following 2016-17, the cap hit on the team following that season would disappear.

A four-time All-Star, Hossa led the Red Wings with 40 goals in 2008-09 and was third on the team with 71 points. He added 15 points (6 goals, 9 assists) in 23 playoff games as Detroit lost to Pittsburgh in the Cup Finals.

The Slovakian native has recorded 339 goals and 719 points in 775 career games with Ottawa, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and the Red Wings. He recently underwent surgery to repair a small tear in his rotator cuff suffered during Detroit's playoff run this past season.

i dont get whats the big deal with this i mean yes his contract is structured to make a ton of money in the early yrs of the contract and less n less towards the end i mean is it a sneaky way of doing business hell yea but is it really illegal i dont think so other teams have done and its well with in the CBA that both league officials/players agreed on..

look at lecavalier, zetterberg, franzen just to name a few all their contracts are pretty similar to hossa's contract and no one said anything about that

its a good strategy by the teams to dish out more money in the early yrs of a long contract and less and less towards the end...what it does is give the player as much money in his prime time yrs and gives the team the leverage to release him towards the end of the contract having less to worry about paying a certain % of the salary against the cap after the release

Sundin didn't play for the Leafs last season. He played for Vancouver.

… on a line with Sittler? :D

I know he didn’t play for Toronto last season – if you had looked more closely at the graphic you would see it refers to the 08 edition (i.e. the 07/08 season). In fact, here is Sundin on Monday April 7, 2008 – the day after the end of the regular season.

So, who's Gainey big playoff pickup??

Remind me again: how far did the Leafs go in the playoffs? Yeah, that's what I thought ...

Actually, medical researchers have discovered a new bug that induces an extreme allergic reaction to post season play in any hockey player that wears a Leafs jersey. In fact, just the thought of touching the Stanley Cup causes some of the afflicted to break out in hives. They are looking for a cure but at the moment the only thing that seems to work is changing teams.

Luckily for the Leafs none of them have had to suffer this terrible allergy for many many years, since playoffs do not exist in Toronto. It's like having a peanut allergy in a land where no one has even heard of peanuts. They're safe as long as they stay in TO!

Hilarious. Idiot # 1 realizes he had a brain fart (that Sittler never played for Vancouver) and edits the post, and now goes back and deletes the whole post entirely. Then again, deleting posts to purge any incriminating evidence is nothing new for buffoon #1. :D

Maple Losers give up on another prospect

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=287229

The Laffs used to have a couple of blue chip prospects in net: Rask (a first round choice) and Pogge (a former major junior goaltender of the year and a third round choice) – now both assets are gone with basically nothing in return. Ah, but Burke did pick up 30 year old journey man back up tender Joey MacDonald.

The salary cap has turned the NHL into a Darwinian jungle where the aged and weak are culled and the strong and capable survive. Unless, as Allen Panzeri reports, you're willing to play for less.

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/amateur/Hockey+Natural+Selection/1853069/story.html

There's always one team that will pay someone a ridiculous price.

The most hilarious contract so far has been handed out by Toronto general manager Brian Burke. He gave fighter Colton Orr a four-year, $4-million contract. Orr made $550,000 last season.

He had one goal, four assists, and 193 penalty minutes in 82 games for the Rangers. He averaged 10.1 shifts and 6.29 minutes of ice time per game. In 245 NHL games, he has had four goals, seven assists, and 549 penalty minutes.

Huh? How did Brian Burke ever get the reputation of being so smart?

The author makes a good point, but just don’t quote statistics –

Big deal, so he goes on long term IR and the cap hit is “off the books” so Bob can spend the $1.5M elsewhere.

How about the Maple Turds signing Tie Dumi for $1.25M per season back in 2005 (and letting Roberts and Nieuwendyk go). Less than a year later the Laffs buy Dumi out. Back in 2005 the salary cap was only $39M, so the Dumi signing was an even bigger waste of cap space – equal to a $1.821M cap hit today (based on a $56.8M cap). You lose again, fool! :D

Gregory Stewart

I too find Laraque doesn't seem to understand why he's in the NHL sometimes, and his lack of health is a concern but at least Gainey did finally sign Gregory Stewart today, who is a reasonable plan B, so I'm glad because I have a feeling the Habs will need both quite often next year.

The LEAFS used to have a couple of blue chip prospects in net: Rask (a first round choice) and Pogge (a former major junior goaltender of the year and a third round choice) – now both FORMER assets are gone with another possible Piece of the Puzzle for Burke and Company in a draft pick for a player who is gonna do nothing but probably sit in the minors anyways for the LEAFS. Ah, but Burke did pick up 29 year old journey man back up tender Joey MacDonald who has alot more NHL experience, thumbs up mr Burke!. and for all you who really no me, i am a closet Leafs fan, but dont tell Doc. he would never let me live down how i Love his team..... ok people, gotta run, my "Wagon" just arrived....... shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh but, GO HABS GO (u have no idea how bad i wanna say go leafs go)
