Maybe I should stop reading The Montreal paper because everyday I get more and more discourage. There is a park in Laval were you can go hiking and its a very nice place in Chomedey I been there a few times with my ex girlfriend, and now I read that this 46y old women was murdered last night at 19pm. She had not ties with the murdered who is 20y old, after that apparently he was hungry so he broke into an apartment were the police cough him.

How many women have been murder this year alone due to jealous ex boyfriends and husband, this is beyond me, I been dumped cheated on and I would have never think of doing something like this to one of my ex, yes I did send some of them letters to tell them how selfish they were and all but that's how far it went for me.

Moving on to 2 days ago in Lasalle kids playing basketball and a 18y old gets out of a car and start shooting at them... the one who were playing basketball were no known by the police.

I know there is a lot of turf wars, and most of the time those murders are related to gang wars but now its seems that a lot more innocent people are falling victim to this and its getting scary.

I live with my mother she is 81 and I work night time, around the house outside I install magic eyes, so If for some odd reason someone tries to get in the house the lights go on. We live in a good neighborhood I have great neighbors but with all that is going on I am a bit scared.

We cannot blame the police after all they can't be everywhere. And now all those beggars who attack people in the Montreal metro. When I was younger I use to go out all the time in Montreal we walk St Catherine street nothing ever happened yes sometimes beggar would ask for money but nothing violent.

I am not sure what can be done about this whole violent situation but its getting a bit scary.

Before moving back to take care of my mother I live for 7 years in a condo in St Eustache, during those years I saw the neighborhood change, but there were also lots of police patrolling, I use to go for walks after supper and a few times I pass like 4-5 teenagers or young adult that look at me in a bad way. Then I decide to go for my walks during the day instead felt much safer.

Being a night worker I often go to the gas station around 2am I know the cashier there he is really cool but you never know with everything happening, I just go gas my car and get a few things like energy drink and junk food. anyways.

Since moving to Montreal and living here, I noticed that Canada is too soft on crime, I spent time travelling, and felt safer as a woman in Mexico, Dubai and Singapore then I do here. Canada is way to soft on crime, I admire the Singaporean approach to crime, it's very safe because crime is treated punitively lots of studies done on this, if the punishment for crime was raised for drug dealing, murders and rape just to name a few then it will be less of a problem. Hell, you cannot even defend yourself or you may even be charged with assault. Even drug dealers function downtown with impunity l, just see what they are doing to the homeless population. Personally a caring government put the drug afflicted into mandatory rehabs and throw away the key for drug dealers, wife beaters murders, rapists. Some people are just naturally bad and should not see the light of day.

agree 110% those sentence are ridiculous, they have a criminal record so big and they are outside waiting trial. The cops new him he as a heavy past but he is not in jail.

Yup Montreal are a bunch of pussies and that Valerie Plante during the shooting violence we should remove the police gun so there will be less violence. Pathetique

Increasing punishment doesn’t correlate with decreases in crime. Nice you had a good experience in Mexico, but it’s laughably unsafe compared to Canada .Our gouverment is doing a masterfully shit job though, and it’s retarded we’re not allowed to fight back without being charged in most instances.

That's also not true. Find me a legitimate self-defense case where someone was charged.

You even had a famous case where some Mafiosi shot at the cops and killed at least one during a no-knock early morning warrant and won.

The issue of femicide murders is not a new phenomenon; it has been on the rise for decades. However, the media has historically been reluctant to address this issue, particularly when the perpetrators are often the victims' partners. The media's avoidance of this topic is often linked to the fact that the perpetrators are usually apprehended fast and found guilty of the crime.

The increased attention to femicide murders in recent times can be attributed to the impact of the pandemic. With lockdown measures in place, couples were forced to spend more time together, leading to heightened tensions and conflicts. This surge in domestic violence incidents during the pandemic shed light on the prevalence of femicide.

While acknowledging that this perspective may be controversial to some of you, it is worth considering that the media's sudden focus on the feminist murder movement during a period when public confidence in the government's management of the pandemic was diminishing, individuals began to doubt the reality of the pandemic and the motives behind various protests. This transition towards focusing on femicide cases may have been a deliberate strategy by the media to redirect public interest away from other critical matters, often at the behest of the government. Consequently, media reports also delved into topics such as gun violence and gang’s, reshaping the conversation around societal issues.

one not long ago in Ontario. They were not convicted and the charges were dropped, but the fact they were even charged is despicable.

I am 6 feet and 260 pounds I don't bully people around or use my size to intimidate, but I can tell you something, I used to compete in knock down kyokushin younger and full contact tae kwon do at 170 pounds I use to knock out guy back then.

If someone tries to attack me I will defend myself no matter the cause, but so far I did not have too apparently being big scares a lot of people. But if the guy as a knife or a gun or they are 4-5 of them its a different story.

Its not only femicide, the 45 year old women was simply taking a wall in a park in Laval, she was stabbed 30 times by a 20y old man who was apparently looking for food, he broke in an apartment near by afterward , this women didn't do nothing wrong she was no involved with that mental idiot, she just went for a walk, this is what her son said in the interview.

Its like you don't feel secure anywhere you go now. The young men in Lasalle were playing basketball on the court at 7pm a car pulls up a 18y old comes out and shoots them.

Its free violence, everyday someone gets stabbed, murdered, I work around the Olympic stadium at night, most of what happens, is close to there, I use to go to Tim Horton at night, or the depanneur even McDonalds but now I stay inside my job. Hochelaga maison neuve la petite Italy etc.
