Impressing performance by Syndagaard. Finally. Hopefully he'll have more success than Travis D'Arnaud has had. Dickey has been as expected with the Jays. Regularly inconsistent during the first couple of months of the season, then he settles down and eats up innings. Often a victim of poor run support, unlike Mark Buehrle.

The Yankees have also been quite impressive, i must admit. I never thought they'd ever sweep the Royals. I used to like the Royals, but success got to their heads during the offseason and they've become bullies. I'm actually happy to see the Yankees sweeping them.

As for the Red Sox, they also got swept by Minnesota. Was i surprised? Not at all. Bad team, bad pitching staff, awful hitters, bad manager, bad batting coach, bad pitching coach, etc. They'll very likely spend the rest of the season in last place.

How sad to see such a legendary clutch hitter like David 'Little Papi" Ortiz finishing off his hof career totally embarrassing himself. If there is such a thing as 'baseball gods', they'll figure out something to make his awfully embarrassing season end sooner in order for him not to tarnish his impressive resume any further.

As for John Farrel, the worse manager in MLB, he'll likely be offered the chance to resign in a couple of months and i predict he'll join MLB in an administrative capacity. No one will hire this guy after his embarrassing managerial career. Well, except for one lucky season, that is. But even that old manager with the Marlins would have wound up winning a championship with that team back then.

Only if he goes down with a season ending injury. The only other alternative would be he FINALLY gets suspended for his steroid use over the years which everyone knows except the blinded hose fans which i suspect even a decent amount of them really believe he used. Then again you said it had to be something that would NOT tarnish his (*) career, i guess the season ending injury is the only way out.

Fans,

Joe T. publically boasted about stiffing a bet. He was, in fact, suspended from this forum for that offence for a few weeks.

The only person of 68,000 Merb members ever suspended for cheating others. Why did he bring his dishonor up again?

... yes how about comeback player of the year(AROD),...

So you hate cheaters but love the poster boy for cheating. That's our Joe. :D

As for John Farrel, the worse manager in MLB,...except for one lucky season

Thanks for admitting that's what this is really about, Farrell dumping Toronto then winning the World Series his first year in Boston. Sorry it hurts that much.

As for the Red Sox, ...Bad team, bad pitching staff, awful hitters, bad manager, bad batting coach, bad pitching coach, etc.

So the Red Sox have no positive qualities at all??? That explains why they are tied with Toronto.

incredible,

It took two months, but John Farrell finally made a good decision: he decided to bench Little Papi tonight. This will give them a better chance to win tonight, but they'll lose. Just watch.

Fans,

Sure they do. Dustin Pedroia,..

Dustin comes ready to play his best every day with full heart and soul. He's a wizard on the field and he's hitting strongly, especially for a 2nd baseman. He could be an All-Star easily if he hold pace for hitting.

Yup, Papi has not been hitting. It's somewhat shocking to see him taken out of the lineup for even a short time, but it was needed.

Now for the best news. The debut of Eduardo Rodriguez for the Red Sox has been a great success. Despite being only 22 years old he has manhandled the Rangers like a pro giving up only 3 hits so far tonight. Sure he has the advantage of never being seen before, but what a promising start in his first MLB game.

Cheers,

Merlot

Surprise-surprise, Farrell benching the over-the-hill former PED abuser tonight woke the team up & the bats came alive in an easy red hose victory. I called it!

A very nice win for Sox rookie phenom E-Rod and another completely shit outing for Cheeseburger in pinstripes, 5ER in 6 innings and nudging his ERA up to 5.67. Shocker that the B0mbers biggest closet fan disappeared tonight.

It's amazing how some crawl out of their burrow holes when the Red Sux win and the Yankees lose. Good to see you K. Guess we won't be seeing you for a good while until the next unnatural phenomenon happens.

Hello all,

...unnatural phenomenon happens.

Everybody here throws mud. We all have to admit that, though personally I never post false accusations. Lately it's been bad, a steaming pile of SHIT, and honestly, I've thought this baseball thread should be closed permanently. Now we have the above quote. A player only 22 years old comes up and has a fantastic game in his pitching debut. He's also clean. But because of his uniform we get an accusation of using steroids on the very first post about him by an opposition "fan". If he had been wearing pinstripes Joe.t would have given him the Cy Young and the Hall of Fame by the 5th inning. But because he wears a Red Sox uniform he's branded a cheater BEFORE one ounce of evidence or even a rumor can be found with any relation to that issue about this player.

What are you here for DD?????????? You said you have been "a baseball fan" since you were very young yet your first move on a new clean player was to smear. The above is not a comment by a fan. It's a disgraceful defamation of poisonous hate for malicious self-gratification. People who can't find the courage to be honest at all and need to use pure shit at every turn, even on the cleanest of players, are NOT fans. No one who smears a clean player for spite or any reason loves baseball or sports. Your comment is about revenge...nothing else.

Eduardo Rodriguez: MLB Debut With Boston Red Sox Way Better Than Dream

http://nesn.com/2015/05/eduardo-rodriguez-mlb-debut-with-boston-red-sox-way-better-than-dream/

Eduardo Rodriguez literally could not envision a better scenario.

Rodriguez dominated Thursday in his major league debut as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Texas Rangers 5-1 at Globe Life Park. The 22-year-old said after the game he went to sleep early Wednesday and dreamed about his upcoming start, but it didn’t compare to how things actually played out.

“The game was way better (than my dream),” Rodriguez told reporters in Arlington after Thursday’s victory. “I gave up one or two runs (in the dream). But the game was way better.

” One or two runs? That’s child’s play. Rodriguez hurled 7 2/3 shutout innings while earning a win in his first major league start. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered just three hits.

It was an impressive performance from beginning to end, and Red Sox manager John Farrell even left the door open for the left-hander’s next start to come in the majors with Boston rather than in the minors at Triple-A Pawtucket.

“Anyone who watches this game can see how impressive he is,” Farrell told reporters. “I want to be careful with how far I get out there, but these kind of guys don’t come along all that often. When you combine the ability with the poise and presence on the mound, it was a very solid beginning.”

Rodriguez never once looked overwhelmed by the setting. He worked quickly, economically and effectively throughout the contest, flashing an outstanding repertoire that should serve him well at the big league level in the long run. The Rangers never really stood much of a chance.

Rodriguez’s fastball touched 95-96 mph, his changeup kept hitters off-balance and his slider looked sharp early on. The lefty’s composure stood out more than anything, though. He truly embraced the challenge of snapping Boston’s three-game losing streak on the road against a red-hot lineup.

“For me, this is really surprising, you know, first time throwing in the big leagues and throw a game like that,” Rodriguez admitted.

“It was a really fun,” he added. “First time in the big leagues, first time being in a big league field. Really, really fun.” Rodriguez probably will think about his debut until the next time he toes the rubber, whether it be for Boston or Pawtucket. But even those flashbacks probably won’t compare to the real deal.

For roughly two and a half hours Thursday night, Rodriguez lived in a fantasy world.

It's one game. A promising one.

BTW - standings change pretty quickly huh Doc. :D Farrell is considering keeping Rodriguez in the rotation. The way the situation has been with pitching all year there's a good chance Rodriguez stays or starts more than planned if he only stays decent, and if the Sox get a steady pitcher with Buchholz also looking good lately, and Farrell keeps his guts about moving out players who don't perform, the standings could shift a lot more in the Red Sox favor.
.
Cheers,

Merlot

I watched the game yesterday & Sabathia didnt pitch as bad as the boxscore shows. He was a victim of poor relief pitching on the part of David Carpenter, a former Jay whom i never liked. I'm not a fan of CC, but i have to simply admit he did ok last night and deserved a better fate.

Merlot you're definitely unplugged.

Do you even know what I was referring to when I said that? Did I mention E. Rodriguez in my post?

If you can't guess WTF the unnatural phenomenon is, it's when the Yankees lose and the Red Sox win. That's it. Isn't that what happened last night?

Talk about someone getting angry, losing their temper over something that they have no idea what the other person is talking about.

And Shit stirring  ... what do you call this last rampage?

And yes, I am here to see the Yankees win tonight and the Red Sox lose, again.

BULLCRAP!!!!!!!!!! You're obsessed with calling the Sox cheaters, always a reference to roids. When SK says E. Rodriguez is a "phenom" you say you just happen to refer to an "unnatural phenomenon" with no connection to E-Rod. Total bullcrap!

Red Sox lost again! Nothing new. However, the worse manager in baseball blew a gasket and got kicked out of the game. Chunky Napoli also got booted out for mouthing off at the umpire. He's having such a miserable season that he likely welcomed the exit. He's fat, out of shape & has clearly lost his batting eye. Likely for good. He should retire now instead of embarrassing himself further.

Pedroia also lost his cool. No doubt he's frustrated with playing again with a bunch of losers. I like Pedroia.

Little Papi and his mediocre batting average were benched again. Watch the old miserable has-been demand a trade soon.

Rusney Castillo. What the hell is this Cuban doing in the majors? He's clearly over his head here. How much did Cherington pay for this bum again?

Kinda makes you wonder how long it'll take for ol' geezer Oh Henry to fire his ass!

By the way, the Jays won again on a complete game gem by Mark Buehrle. This team's pitching has stabilized and the hitting is among baseball's best. Go Jays! :thumb:

Calm down Merlot. Such anger. No one wants you to have a stroke while posting in the merb baseball thread. Take a cold shower. Relax. I know it's tough since the Red Sox lost another one. Although the Yankees are behind tonight, win or lose that unnatural phenomenon of the Yankees losing and the Red Sox winning won't happen tonight. And the Yankees may still win ... But relax. Take a chill pill, Merlot, if you have to.

Truly, Cheers.

Yes, it is well expected that the Blue Jays will leave the bottom of the pack and be in contention for 1st in the AL East while the Red Sox establish last place for themselves alone.

Red Sux now officially in last place, the John Farrell watch is on, I predict that he is gone by the all star break although I think that the wrong guy will be fired, the manager can only do so much with the players that he is given to manage, Cherington is the worst GM in all of baseball and needs to be canned, this team will finish in last place again for the second year in a row and is a joke, it is clearly in desperation mode already with the calling up of Castillo.:yield:
