Now the next story will be the following one: If the English/French boat capsizes, the rescuers will shout «French children and ladies first!».
Sorry, I couldn't resist...

What are you getting angry about I didn't say it to you and maybe he's new in this country and doesnt know the language well like most new immigrants.
And what if the driver was scarred of a bomb attack ? Why was he insisting to know "what time is it" ? What was his agenda ?
I think the driver was right 1000% to stop right there, call 911 and get everybody out for her protection and safety of everyone.
Put yourself in the shoes of the bus driver for a second...

Because you are making a jugement on a woman you don't even know! You don't know what really happend there and you simply call her a bitch! At least, you should excuse yourself to talk that much bad ... bitch ... you have no other polite word in your mind or what?!

You're right. He should have simply called her a racist. No need to drag her gender into it.
Très bon article! Moi qui habite à côté de ce métro en particulier et qui le fréquente parfois, ça fait drôle de lire une journée dans la vie de nos passeurs qui, soit dit en passant, ne sont jamais bête avec moi . loll

Let's move the discussion forward. What is the fallout going to be from this controversy? Is the bus driver going to be fired, given a raise, or sent for cultural sensitivity training at McGill? Or will she be asked to buy a set of "Learn French like 1-2-3" tapes for young Muhammad? Will she apologize? Or will she be cheered by her fellow drivers and appointed the chief of the local Busdrivers 101 Union?
Is young Muhammad going to buy a watch? Will he apologize? Will the incident provide the basis for his Master's thesis in some way? Will STM give him complimentary rides for a month? Will he learn French? When?
She will probably be given a pat on the back and moved to a better route, maybe Westmount or Hampstead, where she can offer her superb service to a new clientel, most of whom will probably own a watch.
The passenger has nothing to apologize for. If he is smart he will file a complaint with the Human Rights Commission and will win some kind of settlement which will, of course, be paid from our tax dollars. He is not a resident here, only a foreign student at an English learning institution, and he has absolutely no obligation to learn French when he should be able to get along in Montreal perfectly well with his knowledge of English. He will learn to keep his mouth shut and not complain about language, finish his studies and get the hell out of here with his fine education that has been subsidized by, yup...you guessed it, our tax dollars.
Cette histoire vient de The Gazette qui n'ont aucune crédibilité sur les questions de la langue.
L'équipe éditoriale de ce journal a toujours été anti-francophone.
I agree with you man. Here is a masters student who probably when he is done will go back home or move to a different country where he will have an amazing salary and his tax money will go to that country. We need more brilliant people like him and less of these lazy and arrogant bus drivers with a closed mind.
I don't see how he will necessarily have an amazing salary or if he will fill a need of the Canadian economy based on what he is trying to get his Master's degree for -
From the original article as seen in the first post in the thread -
"The 32-year-old native of Islamabad came to Montreal a few months ago to enroll in a master's degree program in Islamic studies at McGill."
