And i'm pointing out that my statement wasn't directed at this thread or this board. It was directed at the radio/tv show callers who call themselves Leafs 'fans' but contantly call to whine about their team. I'm quite aware that Montreal & other teams also have their share of whiners calling themselves 'fans' since i listen to them when they call Tony Marinaro or Chris Nilan & other phone-in shows based around the habs.
Over the past couple of weeks i've rarely heard any bitching about Clarkson or Phaneuf on the shows. I haven't even heard a single negative word about Kessel's contract since he signed it. Of course, he just happens to be one of the top players in the entire NHL, so his contract looks like a bargain now.
Nobody is talking about anyone's contract at this point in the season (10 games in ).
Kind of reminds me of last year, remember......" Guess who's in first place !!! "
Another 70 some odd games left.... time will tell.....always does.
Toronto just won 3-2 over Chicago, congrats.
p.s. After Subban signed his 8-year/$72 million contract, Phaneuf's will be looked upon as a bargain in a couple of years when all the league's top defencemen (Subban finished 16th in Norris trophy balloting last season) will be asking for huge raises because Geoff Molson overruled Marc Bergevin & gave Subban all he wanted (and more) back in August.
PS...Nonis robbed the Kings for "Big Game" :thumb:
Frattin and i do believe Jessie Blacker. Major Highway Robbery by Nonis, Burke taught him well lol...Remeber th Dion Phanuef trade as well as the Gardiner/Lupul trade as well.
One thing people seem to overlook is that had the Leafs kept the pick and drafted Seguin, could you imagine him playing in a hockey crazed city with all the temptation of outside life pulling at him day in day out? If he could not handle the lifestyle in beantown there is no way he could have handled Toronto. It would have been a disaster. Kessel by far is a great player and has the tempermant for TO. HOF for Kessel one day? I can see that, sure but lots to do before that happens.
GLG!
As for Phil Kessel, i agree that talks of HoF are still early, but he's only 27 and is just about to enter his peak years. Once against, WHAT A PLAYER!!! :thumb:
p.s. You were wiser than i was when you first purchased your Leafs jersey. My player didn't even last a season in Toronto! lol
The Leafs can not catch a break. The 20 game suspension to Carter Ashton. What's next? It's to bad for the player if his story is true.
. . .
Phaneuf
. . .
On top of that, he's still BY FAR Toronto's best defenceman. He logs in the most minutes, always plays against the opponent's top line, is on the 1st PP and PK units and rarely misses any games.
. . .
I'd rather have Dion Phaneuf than PK Subban.
Heck, these days, i'd even take Morgan Rielly over Subban!
