My source following the Leafs just informed me that Dion Phaneuf practiced earlier & is expected to be in the lineup next Thursday. He also mentionned that Kessel wasn't on the ice this morning.

Phil "The Thrill" has battled an undisclosed injury over the past couple of months & it's hurt his play. But he's always been durable & rarely missed a game since his arrival with the Leafs.

I've also learned that if the Leafs feel they don't get fair value for Daniel Winnik, that they'll consider re-signing him since he's been their best player over the past month & has had very good chemistry playing with Nazem Kadri. The coaching staff have also loved coaching him.

I say they hold out for a first round draft pick or keep him. He is a heart and soul type of guy we need for the rebuild. Any word on Lupul, Bozak or Polak?

They'll never get a first-round pick for him. But i believe they'd be happy with a 2nd-rounder.

No word on the other players you mentionned. Speaking of Lupul, the Leafs are a different team on the ice when he's playing. What an asset he'd be to any team if only he could remain healthy. Last i heard of him, two teams were interested in obtaining him for the right price: Montreal and Detroit.

The habs have also been linked to Roman Polak and Nazem Kadri. Some in the Mtl media would love to see Kadri centering the first line instead of DD. As for Polak, the media isn't as high on him. It appears that the fact it only cost the Leafs Carl Gunnerson to get him has given the impression that he's not that good of a player. Personally speaking, i think he'd look great on that habs defence and could potentially become a fan favorite. Same thing with Kadri.

Personally i think Lupes is a great character guy to keep for the rebuild but he is indeed seemingly made of glass.

Leafs trade Daniel Winnik to the Penguins

Winnik was just traded to the Penguins for a 2nd-round pick in 2016, prospect Zach Sill & a 4th-round pick in this year's draft.

Considering that i wasn't expecting much better than a 2nd-rounder for Winnik, i'd say that the Leafs got quite a fair return. Other teams that showed interest in Winnik according to my sources were Motnreal, Winnipeg & the NY Rangers.

Breaking News, Leafs trade Clarkson for Horton. Good trade for the Leafs they gain cap space, and they got rid of that bad contract. Bravo!

Everyone is saying this may be the best trade in Toronto sports history! Many are also saying that Dave Nonis just saved his job!

Nathan Horton will never play hockey again, which means that today's move is basically the same as an amnesty buyout for the Leafs. They save nearly $5.3 million per season in cap space for the next 5 years.

Clarkson was a good player in NJ

Always a thorn in the Rangers side

I wish him well in Columbus

He was. The only explanation that i have to explain what happened in Toronto is that he's the type of player who can thrive in a tight, defensive system like the one he played in NJ.

He was the most sought-after free agent less than two years ago.

The entire hockey world is still raving this morning about the genius move pulled off by the Leafs yesterday, turning an untradeable huge (and useless) contract into $5.3 million annually in cap space.

This type of move had never been made before, where a cap team with an untradeable contract was able to find a trade partner stuck with a huge uninsured contract of a player who will never play professional hockey again.

The Leafs showed the hockey world yesterday that there is no such thing as an untradeable contract.

Ottawa & the Islanders will be scouting the Leafs/Habs game tonight. Ottawa likely scouting habs & Isles scouting the Leafs. Will Garth Snow make a big splash tomorrow or Monday? Habs likely looking at a Sens defenceman.

The Leafs have just picked up Tim Erixon on waivers from the Hawks. He is a former 1st-round pick (2009)of the Calgary Flames. He's also the son of former Ranger Jan "Bugsy" Erixon.

Also, a source has told me that the Oilers have been scouting the Leafs over the past couple of weeks & are interested at one of their goalies. Considering that Jonathan "Mandela" Bernier has played in nearly every game, my guess is that it's not James Reimer. I've also learned that Toronto has indicated to other teams that Bernier IS available. He's RFA after this season.

Tim was also a Ranger
We sent him to Colombus in the Rick Nash deal

Why did you call Jan " Bugsy " ??

Jan and Peter Sundstrom were extremely good as the 2 forwards on the penalty kill

You are correct & i was mistaken about the team who had drafted him. Calgary did, not Columbus.

Jan Erixon's nickname was Bugsy back in his playing days.

So, what do you think of the Keith Yandle trade? I like Yandle, but they paid a heck of a steep price to get him.

John Moore was the guy we traded Tim Erixon for
It's all full circle now, as both of them are now gone

The trade involving Duclair is horrible. What the fuck is Sather thinking ?

He musta found some of the November crop I had Doc
