- Designated hitter Nick Johnson was put on the 15-day disabled list today. Utilityman Kevin Russo was called up to take his place. An MRI on Johnson revealed inflamed tendon in his right wrist. He also took a cortisone shot. The Yankees expect him to miss several weeks. In the meantime, he will remain in New York and receive treatment at Yankee Stadium.
What a great move by Cashman bringing this proven commodity back to the Bronx...

Pedroia was drilled not because Beckett intentionally hit Cano and Jeter, but because of his sneering and juvenile behavior afterwards. You have absolutely no right to sneer at the other team when they are kicking your ass. It's unheard of in any sport. This is the exact same reason why Youkilis had a heater thrown over his head by Joba Chamberlain a few years ago. The Yankees were sick of his bench jockeying and decided to shut him up. Obviously because of the DH they can't hit Beckett, so they went after the Red Sox' best offensive player.
I found significant entertainment value in that meatball that Victor launched over the green monstah...
