Lets hope Andy sees the value in having his kids thinking it is "so cool" to have their daddy pitching for the most successful and most praised franchise in all of sports, ever! Sign for ONE more season Andy P, your oldest son must be the big man on campus at his high school.

The only thing Andy will see the value in is the what, about $8 million he will get to take up a roster spot and start maybe 10-12 games, 14 on the outside...here's hoping the Yankees carry his corpse too...

Man, that would really suck if the Yankees didn't get stuck with Jeter's corpse for another 8-10 years.

Don't worry Rumples...I am sure the Yankees will sign him...I'm thinking the stupidity factor range is 3-4 years and about $60-75M...after all they paid ARod $33M last season...

Here's hoping both corpses are on the roster.

Have fun,

Jman

I was laughing at your thought that Lee could end up a Red Sox, try reading your post again since you obviously don't understand what you wrote which doesn't surprise me.:)

"it would put the Sox back in the possible Cliff Lee hunt."

Hello Joe buddy,

Actually you need to read better yet. The message was of fear we might go after Lee. My laughter was at the Yankees wanting him....and being willing to dump a fortune for him.

Cheers,

Merlot

Where I belong.
Hmm, it's starting to look bad for the Sox, Jays, Rays and Orioles. From all appearances, it looks like the Yankees are preparing to show Derek "Past a Diving" Jeter the way to the Bernie Williams Memorial Exit Door.

There's a good article at It's All About the Money, a Yankee blog, and the suggestion there is that the Yankees really do have a budget and that there's not much play in it this winter. The Yankees have enormous commitments to 3-4 players of almost $100 M in 2013 and 2014 and really need to be cost conscious elsewhere. The net result is that Derek could be doing his diving in Pittsburgh next year. The little game of chicken going on now between the Captain and the front office appears to be a prelude to goodbye. Which, of course, would be the worst thing for the rest of the division which would love to see the Yanks drop $20 M on a washed up ballplayer clogging up the middle of the infield and dragging the lineup down from its top.

Funny how both Yanks/Sox fans agree for 2 totally different reasons lol... both think their right but in the end, only time will tell. If jeter has one good season and that helps contribute to the Yanks winning another WS, then it is money well spent, if he doesnt do crap, i mean really plays horrible like hitting avg of .250 and only has an avg. of 50-60 runs scored per season and lots of errors, then, yes, bad contract indeed! BUT, we both know he has a cpl good yrs left in him, i just hope they dont cave and give him 4 years.

Yes...Please...take it Derek!!!

I personally think that fair market value would be 3 years at 20 million per year, considering that just 2 years ago he had a monster season and the fact that he will get his 3000th hit next season and is well on his way to breaking Pete Rose's all time hit record, also the fans of New York absolutely love him despite the "one" off season that he had(unlike Red Sox fans), if Arod got 28 million than Jeter certainly deserves 20 million which would be a slight increase to his salary, I would hold out for more if i was him and I think he will.

This would be true if A-Rod deserved the 28 million, BUT....

Jeter, I grant you, will NOT make a lot of errors. You can't boot what you don't reach.

Oh, pleaseee take it Derek...

...Pretty please...because the size of the gap between he and Arod just gives RH hitters all over the AL goose bumps...LOL.

For once, I absolutely agree with you...particularly considering Jeter made $22M last year...$20M per season as I stated in an earlier post would be a fair offer, however it appears the Yankees are pulling what they did on Joe Torre. Make him an offer to save face that you know he will refuse so he simply goes away. Problem for Jeter is, no other team in their right mind will offer any more...

Jeter, I grant you, will NOT make a lot of errors. You can't boot what you don't reach.

...for a #8 hitter with a .250 average and as Rumples puts so well a range that is reduced to something just short of my grandmothers...

It is absolutely for certain that you cannot make an error on a ball yo never touch.

Have fun,

Jman

Lets see, he was the best player in the game for some 10 years in a row or more, and is still in the top 10-20 players, in mlb today. Id say just for having that honor for 10 years in a row he is paid like he should be, not to mention he is still producing great numbers that any player would love to have, besides the players posting better numbers of course, gotta be technical or rumples will correct my stats as he "IS" the "human stat machine" aka, looks on the net, clicks, copy/paste, and is a genius! :) (in his own mind i might ad)

And besides, if the Empire wants to pay him that much, they CAN!

Tell me something Igs...do you get paid based on what you did last year, 5 years ago or 10 years ago?
Or are yo getting paid for what you are doing NOW?

Why should it be any different in MLB?

Just asking...

Give him a break, K. He was busy getting emotionally prepared to watch the Loafs get their behinds thrashed.
