Leafs ineptitude irks fans
01-28-2010 12:16 AM
Undone by a series of giveaways, lost puck battles and a generally uninspired offence, the Toronto Maple Leafs fell ... in front of an unsettled home crowd.

[the Leafs] lost their fourth straight and were booed by what fans remained at the end of the game.

Being booed off the ice at the ACC is a regular occurrence

Leafs booed off ice in loss

Booed off the ice, the brutal Leafs lost 5-0 to the Oilers, a defence-second club that should have been tired after winning the night before in Montreal in overtime.

Currently in 28th place. Shut out 6 times in 24 games - in other words shut out 25% of the time! 5-0 losers at home to the only team they finished ahead of last season. Two goals against them by a top draft pick that could have been theirs if not for the franchise-killing Invisible Man trade. 4 wins in their last 20 games. But hey, let's be positive: I know of at least two fans who strongly believe this team is going in the right direction!

The shitty Toronto franchise could be in 29th place, so 28th must going in the right direction (based on the delusional logic of our two Leaf idiots), LOL !

Actaully 29th place is where they might end up later today - a Toronto loss and a NJ win would put Gasbag Burke's squad in 29th place - right where they finished last seaosn, LOL !

Maple Leafs still league's Laffs under Burke's watch
Toronto GM has made plenty of changes except one that really counts -- they stink

Maybe Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf should start worrying about the quality of his play instead of how much hair gel he needs for his faux-hawk.

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/M...ue+Laffs+under+Burke+watch/3903610/story.html

Great article, great headline, great line about "Captain" Dion.

It seems that there are two main reasons why Burkie loves Dion: 1. He's arrogant. 2. He insists on choosing the music the team listens to (in other words, he's selfish as well as arrogant). Well, it's sure not because of his hockey "ability", since he had the worst plus-minus on the team when he was injured. It's sure not because of his intellect - Michael Landsberg couldn't stop laughing at Dion's fatuous remarks on Off the Record. (His reply to every question was "I'm excited." Landsberg found this so amusing that he clipped all the "I'm excited's" together and replayed them.) And it's sure not because of his popularity, since the Flames - to a man - were desperate to get rid of him and thrilled when he left.

I also loved this:

OK, we'll grant some reasons for optimism...the 2012 first-round draft pick hasn't been traded away yet.

There is lots evidence and many stats to demonstrate how truly shitty the Leafs are this season, so here’s one more:

Pouliot (15) has more points than Kessel (14), Halpern (14) has as many points as Kessel (14) and … wait for it … Hamerlik (14) has as many points as Kessel (14), which btw, is more than Toronto’s top offensive D-man, Kaberle (11). Hamerlik (14) has more points than Komisarek (7) and Schenn (6) combined! or Komisarek (7) and Beauchemin (5) combined ! LOL !

The Leafs suck ass !

I recall not too long ago Leaf idiot #1 boasting about how he would be sitting behind the Toronto bench next to Larry Tanen-boob and Dick Peddie-phile, or maybe this is Leaf idiot # 2 ??

The only incredible part about this is that Komi actually has 7 points! (However if they gave assists for setting up the OPPONENT, Komi would probably win the Art Ross!)

It's official: Kessel trade a disaster for Maple Leafs

Brian Burke made two giant miscalculations that have deemed the deal to failure.

One, he honestly believed the Leafs would be more competitive last season and this season than they have turned out to be.

Two, he honestly believed Kessel would be a game-changing forward for the Leafs, which hasn’t been the case.

Brian should not be hiding

Brian Burke, who’s never met a controversy he ran from, rarely ducks an interview or the opportunity to discuss the state of his hockey club — but he did turn down a request to appear on Hockey Night In Canada’s pre-game show Saturday night. Why? He won’t say, other than to say he routinely turns down all kinds of interview requests. The truth may well be that Burke is upset at Hockey Night, in particular Don Cherry, for his regular rants about coach Ron Wilson. He was also not happy with the Mike Milbury shots of late. In the past, Burke has complained to various levels about the potshots at Wilson and at the Leafs by others, but these days with the team in free fall, he really shouldn’t play the low-profile game. This remains the largest audience for the Leafs: Better for Burke to face the music than run from it.

Can't Blame Gasbag Burke for not wanting to face the music, has taken the already shitty Leafs from 18th overall to 29th last season and 28th this season.

Blowhard Burke should get the league to void the trade so he can get those two firsts and a second back.

Leafs Nation fed up with Phaneuf

It took Toronto fans a little more than a period Thursday night to start getting on Phaneuf,

at the end of a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, when some cad threw waffles on to the ice in the direction of the Leafs as they gathered around Jean-Sébastien Giguère. Waffles? Considering the Leafs performance, cupcakes would have been more appropriate.

Boo birds prey on struggling Leafs

The signs are certainly there that the fans have seen enough.

What started with a few scattered boos – mainly directed at Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf – has since turned into a full-blown symphony of derision on many nights at the Air Canada Centre, culminating in food hurled on the ice at the end of Thursday’s 4-1 loss

Toronto's "merging superstar"

Kessel Should Be Ashamed

Phil Kessel has to be better than this. He just HAS to be.

No one expects the talented forward to put the Maple Leafs on his back anymore; he isn’t that type of player and never will be. But, invisible? That doesn’t cut it — not now, not tomorrow, not next month or next season. And, damned well not for $5.4 million of cap space and three draft choices, two of them first-rounders.

Right now, he is mailing it in… night after night after night.

The 2010-11 Toronto Maple Leafs: So Bad, The Fans Are Throwing Waffles

The Toronto Maple Leafs lost their sixth game in their last 10 last night, and as it looks to be another long season without playoff hockey in the GTA, fans are getting restless. Isn't breakfast supposed to come at a time when you're uh, well rested, though?

There is no punch line here, really, besides just stating the facts. Leafs fans are throwing waffles on the ice to show their disgust.
