The Wings have a few young players to build on once they get rid of the old, excess baggage (Bertuzzi, Alredsson, Legwand, etc).

Good thing we didn't get rid of the "old, excess baggage" just yet, since Alfie had 7 shots, 2 goals including the OT winner, an assist, 3 points, a hit, and was named first star in tonight's victory over the Pens. Poor old guy!

No suspension on Killorn illegal hit on Paul Ranger

I guess brandon shanahan and steve WHY could care less about the integrity of the game as long as they remain buddies, what a joke shanahan has become.

shanahan used to be fair to everyone whether they were buddies of his or not, here is one of the few times he made a wise decision

Even Tomas "Steak" Tartare could not manage a goal and you know it was a decent night in DEADTROIT when even Krusty the Clown Alfie gets a goal.
Reverdy, could you please save my post for posterity? :D:D:D

Rev didn't, so I will. Have you checked the box score from tonight's 5-4 Red Wing win over the Pens? After you do so, come back and bask in the glory of your words, which I have kindly saved here for you.

These two well-deserved Hall of Famers continue to be a true credit to the game. Definitely two of the finest human beings in the world of sports, and men of unequalled honesty and integrity. BTW, hockey fans call him Brendan not "Brandon" (sic).

He'll still finish the year with more points than Petula Clarkson.

Given the current hot streak of the New York Geriatrics and the perennial early season success of the Leafs, I propose the creation of an award for pre-season sports. In honor of the paper champions whose efforts even prodigious consumption of steroids cannot sustain, and in the spirit of the cross-border cooperation, it could be called the York Cup.

A Tale of Two Leafs

Colton Orr

As of now:

47 games played, ZERO goals, ZERO assists, ZERO points, 96 penalty minutes,, MINUS 4

David "Savior" Clarkson

As of now:

49 games played, 4 goals, 6 assists, 10 points, 83 penalty minutes, 2 suspensions, MINUS 8, pathetic 36.8% faceoff wins

BOTH are pretty pathetic...but at least Orr is "only" (ha ha) costing Canada's National Embarrassment $1.85 million on a 2 year contract....whereas the Savior (ha ha HA!!!!!!!) is costing them an incredible
$36.75 million and Nonis decided it would be wise to give him a SEVEN YEAR CONTRACT.

No wonder the leafs have been absolutely hopeless for 47 YEARS...and will likely CONTINUE to be hopeless for as long as hockey is played.

Congratulations to the Griffins - oops, I mean the Red Wings - on posting their third consecutive win this afternoon. Typically fine game by the Goose, and Legwand is playing great as a Wing.

Coincidentally the execrable leafs ALSO have a 3 game streak going: 3 consecutive LOSSES.

Let's hope that there is not an upset tonight and that the far better team - namely the Habs - whips the leafs' sorry asses to make it 4 in a row.

Actually the Wild are a very good team and will give the lowly wings fits and it could be the Wild who put a end to the their playoffs hopes as they play them back to back this saturday and sunday. If by chance the Wild win both games in regulation and the teams just above or just below win their games, it is goodnight time for the team from the bankrupt city.

Thanks for pointing out that the Griffins - sorry, the WINGS - DEFEATED "a very good team" this afternoon.

Looks like your prediction failed...again.

There is no controversy, Bernier is the clear #1 and Reimer will likely be dealt this summer. But he HAS been playing better than carey price lately, but that aint saying much lol.

Comparison at this point in time:

Price:

28-18-5
2.39 GAA
.924 save percentage
4 shutouts
1 Olympic Gold Medal

Reimer:

11-11-1
3.29 GAA
.910 save percentage
1 shutout
Lots of time sitting on a bench and lots of time watching TV

Clarkson led all Leafs tonight .... in what category you ask ?

Saturday night - headon matchup - in a Toronto home game.

The night's stats:

Price won, had 3 goals against, .917 save percentage

Reimer lost, had 4 goals against, .889 save percentage

Looks like a clearcut victory for Price...but, in Reimer's defence, his team is far worse than Price's.

Haha, says the fan whos so called "team" sits 5 points BEHIND the Leafs and out of a playoff spot, lol (save me the games in hand speech, you have to win them first)......You get Pitt next, good luck with that :) The young Leafs finally get some home cooking and a chance to rest after a long long (their longest of the year i do believe) road trip and a back to back.

Update: Hogtown, after 4 consecutive losses in "winnable" (according to a certain leafloving poster) and home games is now ONE point ahead of the Griffins - oops, I mean Wings - who have won 3 in a row.

The Wings also have 2 games in hand.

Les Scabitant had a "glorious" (haha) chance to get within 1 point of the Leafs tonight and went on to lose their 3rd in a row.

My, my how quickly things can change. This quote is from March 13 and by March 22 - a mere 9 days later - the Habs are FIVE POINTS AHEAD of the leafs. Maybe the fact that the leafs have LOST 4 IN A ROW has not helped their cause.

As usual you got it all wrong about the Leafs: the team played pretty well and the game was fairly even.

Of course they did. As Doc has so efficiently explained, the leafs always play a "strong" and "great" game. It's just UNFAIR AND UNLUCKY that in spite of their consistently "strong" and "great" play they have been consistent LOSERS for...47 YEARS .

Some sad violin music, please.
