One. Just Doc, and one guy posting for a buddy absent by his own stupidity.

As for "Canada's Team", I've never thought of Canada as a place that has SUCKED for 46 years.

Same as i had never imagined that the city of Boston or the state of Massachussets were places that could suck so much for 86 years at one time.

Kessel is currently 8th for points in the league, and 10th for goals.

Where, oh where are Zetterberg and DatsyuK? 17th and 18th for points, and 18th and 30th (!) for goals.

Gee you're right! Pav and Henk are WAY behind "the Stick". He has a whole TWO POINTS more than each of them! He has ONE GOAL more than Henk and - wow! - he's an amazing TWO GOALS ahead of Pav! Since the season is already 12 games old, there are ONLY 70 games remaining for Detroit and Toronto - I don't see how Phil can ever be caught!

You know, maybe this will also be the year that "the Stick" matches the CAREER achievements of Pav and Henk. All Phil will have to do to achieve that is to win: (to match Zetterberg) a Stanley Cup, 4 President's Trophies, and the Conn Smythe or (to match Datsyuk) 2 Stanley Cups, 5 President's Trophies, 4 Lady Byngs, and 3 Selkes. Maybe Phil can do it!

Of course Phil would also have to bring his career points-per-game stats up hugely to reach the almost point-a-game that the two Detroit stars have recorded over their illustrious careers.

He'd have to put roughly 100 more playoff games on his record to match Henk and almost 120 more to match Pav. Unluckily for Phil, the leafs very rarely "do" the playoffs (once in the last decade), so this isn't too likely.

Oh yeah, and Phil would have to have a career plus-minus on the PLUS side like Pav and Henk, not heavily on the MINUS side like Phil's career stats currently are. Tough luck for Phil that even though he is WAY ahead of the two Detroit superstars in points (TWO - wow!), he is BEHIND each of them - as usual! - in plus/minus. Maybe that's because they are TWO-WAY players, not one trick ponies like Phil. One more thing: maybe Phil should learn to take a faceoff.

I will concede however that Phil is FAR better at spearing, slashing, running away, and crying than BOTH Pav and Henk put together.

Go get 'em Phil!

I didn't know this thread had turned into a mausoleum.

Well, you're pretty much a newcomer to this thread and actually a great deal of it has taken place in the mausoleum with a lot of the talk centering on 46 YEARS ago.

Suck it up puss ! your 'Canada' and Leafs sucks big time now !
'The world' you live in has been gone for over 40 years now.

Boston as a sport city has won more cups, championships, bowls, trophys, etc... in a 100 years than all TO could win in the next 1000 years !

Look behind you.
Fuck........................ And I thought the Oilers had a chance............. 5 first round draft picks, all forwards and not a goal. I am about to cut an ear off....

...And outshot again by almost a 2-1 margin. It's almost midnight Cinderella ;)

I'll forgive your comment since you've never watched a live hockey game in your lifetime, but if you'd know anything about hockey, you'd know that what counts are goals scored, goals prevented, and also chances to score. Shots, like plus/minuses, are often irrelevant because shots that are made from the red line also count as a shot.

And by the way, guess which team leads the NHL in goals scored?

That's correct. The Toronto Maple Leafs.

More hockey lessons to come in the future.....:D

The Leafs badly dominated the Oilers for two periods, then stopped skating and played Jacques Martin-type of hockey once the score was 4-0.

From what i can see, the problem with the Oilers is similar to what the Leafs experienced a few years ago: they are one of the youngest teams in the league and need more veterans on the team. Goaltending tonight wasn't really the problem. But the skill players play way too individualistic and no one seems to take up the lead into making them accountable.

If McTavish doesn't do something drastic to shake up this team while there's still time, the fans won't care anymore and will stay home. I think the time has come to start making the most out of their capital and start trading some of their young prospects in order to acquire some quality veterans who might be able to change the losing mentality in this franchise.

Well, looks like that lead just got bigger!

KESSEL'S FOUR POINTS LEAD MAPLE LEAFS IN ROUT OF OILERS

Kessel has been a monster all season long!!

What a player!!! And to think that the Bruins no longer have Seguin to justify giving up a young star like Kessel!!

THIS MAY BE THE WORST TRADE IN BOSTON BRUINS HISTORY!!!!!!!! INCLUDING THE JOE THORNTON TRADE!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

Yes, I did notice that there was a lot of nostalgia about "Dead things".

JC makes me laugh with his Red Wings. You were correct in a previous post in your comments about ancient stars like Zetterberg & Datsyuk. They are so 'passe'.

The problem with the Red Wings is that they have zero prospects in the organization to take up the slack left by the departure of Lidstrom and the deteriorating careers of Datsyuk & Zetterberg. They also do not have any bonafide #1 goalies in their system. Jimmy Howard? The Monster?? What a joke!!!!

Another problem with Detroit: too many Europeans. Actually, they are as much Team Europe as the Habs are!!

You never win anything with too many Europeans on a lineup. Just ask the Vancouver Canucks and their SEDINS!!

I'll give you another one: THEY HAVE THE MOST OVERRATED COACH IN PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY!!! SAME GOES WITH THEIR CRAPPY GM!!

I've probably seen and played in more live hockey games than the Doc himself but I do love how when you're wrong you always try to turn the tables to try to make the person you're speaking to appear to have no clue about the game. Lol.

Nice try Doc.

Kessel has been a monster all season long!!

Yep, all 13 games into the season. MONSTER!! Hahaha, it'll be midnight before ya know it Doc.

Trivia question.

Who is the greatest hockey player to ever put on a Toronto Maple Leafs sweater?

Seguin's having a decent season so far, unfortunately he was too immature to stay with the Bruins and his off ice issues which were far worse than just partying too much came to light. Often times it's better for the team to cut the cancer out of the locker room completely ala Phill Kessel, in order to have a solid core of real, committed players that can take you to two SC finals in 3 years and win 1 of the two. Being a Leaf fan you obviously wouldn't know about any of that though  As for Eriksson, if he only saw John Scott coming at him he could have pulled a Phill "stick" Kessel and slashed, speared and then scurried away from him prior to being blindsided, but it wasn't to be.

They said the same thing about future hall-of-famer Joe Thornton when they GAVE him away to the San Jose Sharks. How did that turn out?

p.s. Saying that Phil Kessel was a 'cancer' in the dressing room just proves to me that you know ZERO about hockey. Stick to baseball.;)

Speaking of Louie Eriksson, how's Marc Savard doing these days? Is he still in the Boston area or did he move back home in Ontario?

Here's hoping that Eriksson's head injury isn't as serious as Savard's.....i'd hate seeing a young player's career abruptly end like Savard's because of a cheap shot. But both their injuries looked very similar, with nearly identical type of open-ice head shots.

Haven't anything from Shanny yet. My guess is that Scott will get 20 games.

What has Thornton given the Sharks? A Cup???

Again with your bully tactics regarding knowledge of hockey. Lol.

From the players themselves, they despised Kessel and were ECSTATIC to see his loafing, whiny bitch ass shipped out. That's a fact. Has he come around and changed his stripes in TO, who knows? Teammates in Boston hated him.

Your bullshit empathy reeks, just as you do...but aside from that...As soon as I saw Eriksson's hit it immediately reminded me of Savard's. Fingers crossed it's not as serious for sure. Scott has a hearing tomorrow with Shanahan. Whatever he gets is not going to be enough. If only justice were handed out in comparison to the amount of games missed by the injured. Lol.

Not yet, but Thornton turned them into contenders from the moment he arrived, and has a guaranteed spot in the hockey hall-of-fame waiting for him once he retires. Gee, i wonder which jersey he'll be wearing for his induction?

On another note, Super Joe may not have brought a Cup to San Jose yet, but the Sharks gave Boston.....Wayne Primeau, Marco Sturm & Brad Stuart in return for Thornton. I'm not even joking!

I don't believe a word of this. Where did you get this info from? Faux News?

And if true, maybe Peter Chiarelli (he's the Bruins GM) should have got rid of those bums who had a problem with the future superstar, instead of giving him away to Toronto. ;)

THANK YOU BOSTON ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!!!!!!!

p.s. Leaf Nation also loves the Bruins for giving them former 1st-rounder Joe Colborne, a 1st round pick & another 2nd-round pick for Tomas Kaberle. Just think about: 2 first-round picks & a 2nd-rounder for an average veteran defenceman on an expiring contract, whose better days were clearly behind him. Un-fucken-real!!!!!!
