It would mean you owe me a Guinness and lunch at Le Boucan :D
As far fetched as this scenario I'm about to bring up is it would be the funniest thing to ever happen in a World Series. Jeter starting at SS in the ASG, "past a diving Jeter" and that run comes around to be the deciding run in a Home Field Advantage series. Now here' the far fetched part. The Yankees actually make the playoffs and somehow weasel there way into the Series only to lose Game 7 on the road. How sweet would that be?!?!?!?!

BOYZZZ!

Boyzzzzzzz!

Jeter, being one of the best Yankees/Players in history has earned the right to start his final allstar game and it is obviously what the fans want.

Fans...you mean those with no integrity in NY.

As expected! Typical pinstripe fanboy nonsense. So you're digging up Gehrig for tradition sake.

I don't have any problem with Jeter and Tanaka out on the field to start the All Star game.

So contradicting. If it's about tradition Tanaka doesn't belong at all. In my view he's earned it. But in fanboys view above he can't go because tradition says put in the aging breaking down established star like Sabathia because he's an icon. Merit doesn't matter. If it's about earning it, Jeter can't cut it so he's out. The trouble with you two...oh wait, let's not forget Joe... is you have to double-talk changing standards to make excuses for your players to be there.

Considering you guys wanted Jeter (disgraceful 1.3 million votes) last year when he played only 7 games at the All-Star break...it speaks volumes regarding your standards.

Cheers,

BOYZZZ!

Wow, i'm shocked that a Yankees fan would feel this way.

Beav swimming in Yankee koolaid. Extremely SHOCKING!

Doc, you know what's hilarious? All four of these guys, let's not forget Chercher-le-absent, will be dancing to our tune next year. With Rivera and Jeter gone there's no legend on the Yankees to cry about "tradition" for. Who are they going to promote? The returning humiliated cheater A-Rod? Even New Yorkers MIGHT not be that shameless. Teixeira with fading skills who is 5th this year? Adequate McCann? There's no one left with a nonsense "tradition" pass. Cano would have been it, but he deserves it on merit and he's not a Yankee.

Yeah the pinstriped koolaid fanboys will be screaming about merit next year, and it will be a battle because there's no Yankee batter left without a significant trade or free agency signing who can make it.

BTW Doc - I have to say my DH vote is really a tie between Nelson Cruz and Edwin Encarnacion.

Cheers,

Encarnacion should have been inserted in the first basemen category. He's been at first base for the most part, and Adam Lind takes over when it's time to give him a rest (Encarnacion then DH's) when there's a right-hander pitching (Lind is often platooned).

Either way, both Cruz & Encarnacion are deserving of the honor. I'm actually surprised Adam Lind hasn't been given any consideration. He's been hitting fantastic this season, but has spent a couple of weeks on the DL to rest his bad back & recently a bad foot (due to being hit by a foul ball).

Girardi lost his temper a little bit at the pregame press conference when the local media continued to press him about why he is starting Nuno tonight instead of skipping him with the off day yesterday. Nuno is leading the majors in homers allowed at home, and in worst home ERA.

Girardi basically said he was not going to jack up the innings of the other starting pitchers who have not pitched a large amount of innings, because one guy is sucking. He said it is about 5 guys, not 1. So Nuno will start.

Excellent Pick, once again. Nuno was lights out! Hope you made some nice coinage to help pay for your date with a certain "Star" that will have you seeing "Stars" high in the sky overlooking the Montreal Skyline. You deserve it and her, bud. :thumb:
Picked Nuno on my sports ticket tonight simply because he is playing against the Red Sux.

Both are worthy votes but Victor Martinez is having an incredible year at DH for the Tigers.
He is hitting .331 with 20 HRs and 51 RBIs. He also has the highest WAR at the position.
He is a machine and has hit better than Cabrera this year.

For 2nd base Altuve from the Astros absolutely deserves consideration. He is leading the American League in hitting and the little sucker just stole home tonight against the Tigers. He will be the representative for the Astros.

The absolutely worst pitcher that the Yankees have skunks the Red Sox who could only muster 3 measly hits against Yankee pitching , what an EMBARRASSMENT!!!!

I think it's time for the overrated John Farrell to finally get fired for his incompetence in managing a baseball team!!! Nuts!!!

Wow! and this is most likely not steroid assisted.

I was just listening to MLB radio. The host said if this All-star game counts than Derick Jeter should not be there. Can't they just let him pinch hit? He was the best for a long time and I would still like to see him at the festivities and I wold like to see him hit....and to me that is what Jeter was...a hitting machine.

As i've said in the past, having Jeter in the all-star game makes a mockery out of the game. But i wouldn't have a problem if they allowed him to participate in the homerun derby.

Unfortunately, he'll get voted in by the NY Yankees fans. The all-star game became a popularity contest on the day they allowed the fans to vote the players in & it continues to this day. Players in big & more populated markets have an unfair edge over the rest.

Yea, I don't know what the Sox are thinking trying to keep this guy that brought them the World Series only 1 season ago, fucken nuts aren't they? How many WS has Gibbons brought to Toronto in his stints there, must be at least 2 or 3, right? ;)

Hello BOYZZZ!

I don't have any problem with Jeter...out on the field to start the All Star game.

The host said if this All-star game counts than Derick Jeter should not be there.

Hungry and Doc, no one can come up with any legitimate baseball reason for why Jeter should be there, that's why Beav didn't bother trying to give any. You two came up with players who are both game changers that will affect something that now counts and players real baseball fans want to see...THE outstanding players of today. This is what bothers me about Jeter or any over-the-hill deteriorating icon being voted in. Voting him in is just a condescending pat on the back saying...we're doing you one last favor as a token pick, goodbye old boy. He's been 13 times. Now that he can't be an All-Star legitimately the argument is he should be able to rob someone like the great players you mentioned. I mean, Jeter ahead of Alexei Ramirez or Erick Aybar Jeter...you're out of your mind.

Real baseball fans want to see the best at the All Star game, and they want to see the best possible game. That's why I wasn't selfish by voting for a player that doesn't deserve to go. Fanboys who pick Jeter are team addicts, NOT baseball fans. It's a crime the voting is being turned into a sham.

I'd take the voting completely out of the fans hands and give it to the MLB. Let the fans have some sort of contest where they can try to match the MLB choices, something like a lottery to keep their interest, and offer them and their family a trip to the game as a prize, or some kind of weekend season tickets for their team. That makes a lot more sense than letting entitled fanboys rob deserving players. Yeah, I really like that idea. It would give the fans some prize to look forward too, and keep out players who don't belong. 1) whoever matches MLB choices in both leagues closest. 2) A tie breaker just in case guessing closest to the number of votes the highest vote receiver would get. :thumb:

Cheers,

Merlot

Well, that was a great finish tonight!!! Yes, Tanaka is a beast but he's obviously not the smartest pitcher going. He foolishly shook off McCann twice in favor of a straight fastball that Napoli put a charge into to win the game. You know that McCann was calling for the splitter (a pitch which Tanaka hasn't given up a homer to all season) and Tanaka thought he could sneak a fastball past one of the best FB hitters in the league. WRONG! It's a learning experience for him tonight, no doubt.

What a genius Farrell was to stick with Lester as well!! That's how a reigning WORLD SERIES CHAMPION manages ;)
