Hello BOYZZZ!
I don't have any problem with Jeter...out on the field to start the All Star game.
The host said if this All-star game counts than Derick Jeter should not be there.
Hungry and Doc, no one can come up with any legitimate baseball reason for why Jeter should be there, that's why Beav didn't bother trying to give any. You two came up with players who are both game changers that will affect something that now counts and players real baseball fans want to see...THE outstanding players of today. This is what bothers me about Jeter or any over-the-hill deteriorating icon being voted in. Voting him in is just a condescending pat on the back saying...we're doing you one last favor as a token pick, goodbye old boy. He's been 13 times. Now that he can't be an All-Star legitimately the argument is he should be able to rob someone like the great players you mentioned. I mean, Jeter ahead of Alexei Ramirez or Erick Aybar Jeter...you're out of your mind.
Real baseball fans want to see the best at the All Star game, and they want to see the best possible game. That's why I wasn't selfish by voting for a player that doesn't deserve to go. Fanboys who pick Jeter are team addicts, NOT baseball fans. It's a crime the voting is being turned into a sham.
I'd take the voting completely out of the fans hands and give it to the MLB. Let the fans have some sort of contest where they can try to match the MLB choices, something like a lottery to keep their interest, and offer them and their family a trip to the game as a prize, or some kind of weekend season tickets for their team. That makes a lot more sense than letting entitled fanboys rob deserving players. Yeah, I really like that idea. It would give the fans some prize to look forward too, and keep out players who don't belong. 1) whoever matches MLB choices in both leagues closest. 2) A tie breaker just in case guessing closest to the number of votes the highest vote receiver would get. :thumb:
Cheers,
Merlot
