Yea no ones faced this shit before but the question that remains, why when both South Korea and USA reported their 1st case on same day is there such a difference in #’s? Shit man, even if USA had like a 50% reduction in its #’s that would be something. It all comes down to leadership @ national level.
Here is the inconvenient truth about a denominator of 7,800,000,000.

Even if a vaccine is developed, the risk-adverse might still not be able to come out of the house for four years.

Producing 7,800,000,000 doses is quite the task, especially if it is a two-shot process, and even more so if it is an annual shot due to mutations, like many experts predict.

I was impressed by that scientist in a long-ago post who touted therapeutics and seemed to almost laugh at the concept of vaccines. I am starting to understand him now.

Interesting philosophical question. What if North America goes pure capitalist on this and sells the vaccine to each customer as a rationing mechanism, I.e., there are 50 million doses available after it is given for free to medical professionals, to cover 500 million people, so it costs say $5,000 for the vaccination until more is produced. Do some sex workers get their dose paid for by a bunch of their wealthier Johns chipping in, since all their customers want them to be safe and healthy.

Any chance you were in Texas in mid May before Tulsa?

No one is denying it will be a task getting the vaccine to everyone. As for paying to get your favourite SP vaccinated? Lol! Shit, some may be offended and say “I can take care of myself thank you!”

But just asking, he lost the little credibility he had.

I can't imagine taking in a lamp, even a powerful one, inside my body.

It's incredible, he is ready to say anything to be re-elected, but unfortunately with such far-fetched ideas, he loses more and more credibility.

I asked one of my 9 year old nieces what she thought about it, and she replied, "My uncle stops asking me questions that are impossible. Yes, 9 years old

Exactly! If things keep going like that, he will lose all his negative credibility as well.

Why is Como not taking any heat from this? He really blew a few of his calls, caused a lot of deaths.

No rocket science really. Because having royally fucked up his own duties -- numbers speak for themselves -- Cuomo happily accepted all the federal help Trump had sent to his state and as a way of gratitude, he repeatedly barked at Trump on national TV. He is the real hero of our times, isn't he?

Btw, great to see you back STN :)

It’s very scary when real facts and science, even if it is reported by CNN is called made up bullshit and when people you know who are quite intelligent believe that conspiracy/liberal media/fake news bullshit spin

This seems to be a recurring theme lately with you. I don't think most believe this. The issue, at least with me, is that media, like CNN, will pick and choose facts (that are not disputed by anyone), and then proceed to tell you how you should think about it. They lead you, with bias, to a certain way of thinking. Maybe not you, but a lot of people are susceptible to this. One example is how CNN, and Chris Cuomo, would have you believe Andrew Cuomo has done a great job handling the COVID crisis. I, on the other hand, with the same facts, believe he has done a terrible job. Same facts, different interpretation.

Both sides, right and left, have historically participated in this type of reporting, but as of late, the left leaning media seems, in my opinion, to be taking it to a whole new level.

We will have to agree to disagree. There’s an anti science/fact/reality sentiment that’s developing and getting blamed on shit like CNN or similar propagating fake news. Yea the commentary is there, opinions are present, but sometimes facts on the pandemic are just that, facts no matter how you spin them. No matter how hot you may think Chris cuomo or wolf blitzer are and are jelly like kelly

But yea, I do agree those cuomo boys are a bit shifty

Yes, I think, on the contrary, he did an excellent job. We hit an invisible wall.
With a completely unknown virus, 6 months ago, I think there would not have been many Republican governors who would have done better.

Yes it's true, because those on the right, never have anything encouraging to say.

I think the whole “I don’t do pandemics” is pretty sad. in feb he (cuomo) shoulda asked for flights from Europe to be stopped and implemented something similar to what Greece or Iceland have in place where they test people right at airport. But then at that point in time cdc had duds for tests, so?? I do think cuomos getting overhyped credit.

As per all that mumbo jumbo about him breaking up the union or whatever, baby pleeeeeease..... Connecticut’s governor is getting no credit and prob woulda done just as good a job as Cuomo, if not better. Cuomo absolutely f’ing cock blocks diblasio when Diblasio ends up implementing a policy that cuomo himself would prob implement but won’t get him (cuomo) credit for it and tries to bitch slap diblasio in public. Complete back stabber no different than DJT

Increasing of new cases of COVID-19 in the United States? Why?
No social distancing, not enough wearing a mask, manifestations etc.
Yes, all of these answers are true.

I change the proverb "The answer that kills" = Trump. The answer is easy, deconfinement has been far too hasty pushed by Trump.
Another fake news, Trump doesn't want to wear the mask, because it shows a lack of virility (like Sleepy Joe, according to Trump).
It's a complete lack of respect.

Yes, I think, on the contrary, he did an excellent job.

Yes, he's done an excellent job overseeing the death of over 30 thousand New Yorkers. Washington gets slammed, yet Cuomo is not far off, basking in the spotlight of the center stage with endless press conferences spawned by his surging popularity from the disasters that often create false heroes. He is equally guilty of misjudgments, botched responses and of expressing inexplicable and unjustifiable confidence in his ability to manage this virus (sound like someone else you throw under the bus?).

I look to his equally ridiculous social media, especially early on and his policy for sending recovering Covid patients to nursing homes (akin to suicide bombers), a policy he took too long to reverse and then blamed the CDC guidelines. Remember the first patient that tested positive who flew into the state in early March? Cuomo held a press conference and said health officials would track down every person on that flight, but never did. No media talked about the 'never did' part. There are other examples where he should have acted, with information he had locally and from other countries ahead of him, irrespective of the federal response, that could have made a difference.

His overconfidence that the outbreak would be contained (similar to trump) and his continual minimization of the threat, was dangerous, as was his ridiculous claims that New York hospitals and the general health care system was the best in the world. He also said what was happening in other countries wouldn't happen in New York. Let's also remember that New York should have been the first to enact stay-at-home orders and other closures, yet followed, I believe states like Ohio, California and Washington. Cuomo resisted the initial orders and ironically was concerned over the fear that would consume the people, yet his daily press conferences were stage acts where he invoked panic as much as he conveyed facts.

Don't get me wrong, it was unlikely New York could escape what happened, being the hub it is, but Cuomo was simply a custodian of a predetermined path (though he could have been more) as opposed to some hero who did an excellent job.

But enough about why I think he did a terrible job, perhaps you can share you insight and convert me. Unlike you, I'm genuinely open minded, but please don't just google and post random links to articles your search produces...

So you are trying to say none of these people have a brain in their head and If Trump doesn’t wear a mask then nobody else will either.
I can understand official policy and purchasing of PPE, but social distancing and wearing of masks, sorry most people have a brain in their head no matter what Trump or any other politician says it is up to them to use it.

You make your own luck in life.

After reading your long text, which by the way is well written, much better than me, I am speechless.

We take a perfectly unknown situation, (as I said "We hit an invisible wall") and we throw him in front, then we watch him go. He's like a chicken no head.
It's so easy to do an analysis after a disaster, we should have done this or that.
We are all "estrades" managers and it's so easy to criticize. I certainly couldn't have done better, would you?

I am also open-minded because I have worked all my life with people who came from all over the world. I loved having American students, they were like us, I really appreciated them.
